they are not being mean to the poor cat. Sometimes, owners have to do that to cats - incase their cat fall into the pool when they are not home, they know which direction to go and the steps are soo they can get out!
He is a very graceful swimmer and you are so gentle with him; it seems like this would be wonderful physical therapy. I am so sorry to hear that he was put down, but it seems that he was surrounded by loving people and most likely had a full life. Eighteen is an impressive age for an old boy!
Aww, how sweet. I have a pure black cat named "panther". I tried that only once and he almost took my face off when I tried to put him in the pool, so uh...yeah, he doesnt ever have to try that again. LOL!! He prefers to just lay on the side and pick at the bugs floating near the edge. lmao!
I'm terribly sorry it wasn't HOT enough for you. And, it's been on youtube for almost a year. The purpose was to show that cats can swim. And, it was therapy for a cat suffering for 5 years with Diabetes. If you're looking for those kinds of videos, you might have better luck not looking up 'swimming cat'.
Please treat him/her to a shampoo or rinse afterwards to get all the chlorine off. If you rinse yourself off...then the cat should get to rinse off too. The chlorine he/she will be ingesting by grooming afterwards is not good for him/her and it prolly irritates his/her sensitive skin if it doesn't get rinsed off.
Just to give you information, should you not be a pool owner, our pool is a saline pool. Therefore, it would be like him licking my tears. And, my homeopathic vet didn't seem too concerned with that. Especially since he had been battling with diabetes for 5 years, getting insulin shots every day, and this exercise was to help ease the joint pain. He was put down last Oct.
Our cat lived to be 18 years old. He had diabetes. We had to give him insulin shots everyday for 5 years. When it got really bad he developed neuropathy in his hind legs and the vet suggested that we make him swim to stimulate the nerves. It is also a good idea to teach cats where the steps are in a pool so they can get out if the fall in.
so cute!

my cats all swim too - most people think they CAN'T - they'd just prefer not to...until they get used to it and then they're fine!
