I think embalming traps the natural process of life. If we allow ourselves to become part of nature, for worms to eat your flesh, then birds eat the worms, then humans eat the birds, or whatever, that fire of life is cycled throughout nature and in that way I think there is some sort of life after death, and it's a good life because it connects and supports nature.

I have no idea what happens. There's not real evidence for any view. In all likelihood, nothing happens after one dies. If anything happens, I'd say it's reincarnation just because that makes a lot more sense in any of it's forms than infinite punishment or reward.

I have no idea what happens. There's not real evidence for any view. In all likelihood, nothing happens after one dies. If anything happens, I'd say it's reincarnation just because that makes a lot more sense in any of it's forms than infinite punishment or reward.

@SC0RePIO That's a blatant straw-man. When scientist hypothesize about things like dark matter, they present it as a possible explanation for an unexplained phenomena. They don't claim it as fact until there is sufficient evidence to do so, and if contrary evidence appears they will either modify their hypothesis or discard it all together. none of the above examples would be presented by a scientist and it's very dihonest of you to try to frame it that way.

But science works thanks to a process of observation, independent conformation of the data and peer review. It's this process that makes it possible for a layman to trust scientific findings, contrasted with religion who asks you to believe on authority alone.

Get rid of this notion of absolute certainty. It doesn't exist and is not needed to make decisions. Think of a court case, where the verdict is decided "beyond reasonable doubt". The method used to determine this verdict is called forensic science. Note the science in forensic science. Most logical people use this method to determine the level of belief in each individual belief based on evidence.

There is absolutely no reason to postulate the existence of a soul, let alone an afterlife. You're just afraid of Death! What part of you survives death? Your personality? We know that you personality is the result of your brain and brain trauma can change it. Your memories? Same thing, brain trauma can erase them. What else is there then? Death is the Ultimate brain trauma.

We don't have bodies, we ARE bodies. When our bodies cease to function, so too does our conscious. Everything that makes you who you are is a product of your brain. What part of yourself lives on after death? What evidence do you have to suggest that anypart of you lives on? What evidence is there for a soul? Seems like betting on an afterlife is ill-advised based on evidence and reality. The only sure life is the one you're currently living. Think for yourself.

He makes logical fallacy after logical fallacy and appeals to the viewers emotions more than any sort of rational argument or evidence.
Not trying to troll, but there are many many other apologists and theologians that not only would wipe the floor with Lee Strobals face in a debate but also would present much more compelling arguments to non-believers.

The best I can possibly ascertain, whatever happens to the "soul" after death one's religion is not going to make one iota of difference. Religion will not safe you from anything. I just think any opinion as to what happens to the human soul after death is just wasteful speculation.

I think the truth of the matter is, nobody knows. No one knows where the “soul” or “ego” came from neither do they know where it goes after death. This is why IMO religion was invented as high priests as back as far as time immemorial asserted to have an answer which has still eluded us to this day and why so many people ride on the ignorant wave of religious and other philosophical know-it-alls.

A logical proof of reincarnation - Carl Sagan states that "We are made of stardust, we are a way for the cosmos to know itself." I am really the cosmos itself but my mind tricks me into believing that I am a separate entity- "Paul Mallon". So, considering that I am REALLY the cosmos itself, when "Paul Mallon" dies, I will still exist. I am the cosmos and will continue to experience existence through other sentient beings; "Mark", "Bob", etc. This only works if the "soul" does NOT exist.
