@dackerly017 if i'm not mistaken we only had one euphonium ,didn't we? I played trumpet 2nd chair. I remember they had to augment the honors band with SU students because the filled the Wind Ensemble first.
@B455Hunterz Well the Wind Ensemble had Drew Bonner on Euphonium... I was the other Euphonium player in the honors band... there was supposed to be 4 Euphoniums but 2 never showed
hmmm not bad my band played this song this year the sound we made was awesome. it kinda got boring after a while but then again it didnt cause we never really played it the same time once...awesome peice
i am playing the timpani part and its soo cool.. when it hits the 5/4 measures after the timpani solo i have to change pitches from a g flat to a g and the pitch matches either with the trombones or tubas and fits perfectly. i just love it soo much
this is an excellent song! i had the opportunity to play it in my all state band in high school a couple years ago in new york...such an emotional piece...must have meant so much for camphouse to conduct it. and about that driving rhythmic part halfway through...it was one of the toughest parts i have ever had on tuba haha so demanding but it's such a good piece...goosebumps everytime especially when playing it
I love love LOVE this song! I also played it a few years back with Mr. Camphouse in the the Montana All-State Band. My favorite part is the driving rhythmic part about half way through...so good.
My band did a clinic with him in Spring 2008 we played Watchman, Tell Us of the Night and others. He's amazing to work with, he can play every part of the song on piano at once, it's so cool :)
This is a beautiful piece of music. Mark Camphouse is really a fantastic composer. He'll be conducting the All-District Symphonic Band in Virginia in February & I'm hoping we get to play this or Whatsoever Things cuz they're both great pieces. This is a really good performance by the way!! Awesome job!
for real,, this sounds A LOT like Eric Whiticare's piece October.... thats really weird... i don't like how similar they are... especially because both are about the fall season.. i wonder when they were written..
This reminds me of Mr. Camphouse's other piece "Dakota Rhapsody"...similar style with a lot of fantastic flute solos. Just the way I like it :) We're playing this one of the wind ensembles I'm in soon...now I'm excited!
i remember playing this my senior year in high school at the orlando music festival 2007. enjoyed the music alot. heh heh our tuba section always got compliments in both marching season and concert season. former 1st chair tuba and string bassist for LGHS here. ;)
There were about 80 clarinets who made it into one of three CBDA All-State bands. This is the Wind Symphony (top band), and there were 21 clarinets in it. The CBDA website had a list, but it isn't there anymore.
This is the California Band Directors Association All-State Honor Band--Wind Symphony, performed in Fresno, CA at the Saroyan Theater on Feb. 24, 2008.

Could you post the names, if possible? I'm wondering if a former band classmate of mine made it into Allstate this year (he plays Clarinet).

CBDA, WAS amazing this year. God we were awesome. The music was a little to "American" themed for my taste, but we sounded great anyways.
