General Tire, at one time, owned Channel 7. It was taken away from them in scandal in the early 80's. The announcer on TV56 was Tom Evans..known as Neil MacNevin. He was the popular booth announcer there for almost thirty years.
@StukInBuf - Yes, same corporation. Too bad YT user "tkaye2" doesn't come around here anymore; apparently has knowledge and insight on bad business dealings of RKO General..

The RKO General logo at this time... any association with General Tire?
*Sooner or later, you'll own Generals...*

Mentioning Jack Kelly on the news? This must have been before he got snuffed in the 1978 Blackfriars murders.

Was that Gary La Pierre doing the piece for Channel 56?
I love your stuff, it brings back a lot of memories and lets me see what was going on around here before my time, too.

The 56 announcer was Tom Evans.

:12 seconds in they encourage you to get your pet Tattooed so it will be less desirable to pet snatchers. So bizarre.

Man, that's cool. You really know how to bring Boston yesteryear back in the present. Please, keep on doing it.

If you have it, what font did you use for the WBZ graphics?
Davros2006 3 years ago
I used scanned logos for this, but the font is 'Anklepants' for all the old Group-W stations.
MSTS1 3 years ago
Well... near the "Anklepants" font. They changed around the font a slight bit. But it is not the "Anklepants" font.
hkfreak 2 years ago
Yes, as I said I used actual material; scanned, but 'anklepants' is the 'font' that is available for it.
And that's true, it is not exact. I notice particularly the 'V' in the font is much too wide to match the real thing..
