Say you try to do a cool trick combo with Ryu but you miss one of the hits; all you would have to do is use your latest savestate to try again. TASes never involve botting or anything like that; and they are NOT easy to make. (but they are still fun to do)

They play this game using frame-by-frame gameplay and savestates to correct any mistakes that they've made. So there would be absolutely no reason to use a cheat code in this situation. And even if he did, wouldn't it be in the description. And even if he did(which I highly doubt), it was still an incredible speedrun

There is nothing "pure skill" about you being able to control what the AI does, that stuff remains in tact unless its been altered by the difficulty level or someone has put in a code which downgrades the AI after the difficulty level was seen being put on hardest.

You have no control over the AI in hardest mode, it blocks, its retaliates, it doesn't just stand there and allow you to CONSTANTLY jump in and make it look crap.

this game was easy.. once you learned all the characters move you could do a perfect speedrun.. the AI was not very good back then, I doubt you'd be able to do a perfect run on street fighter IV on the hightest difficulty. The AI has improved alot in the last decades

Making this look as easy as he did is no easy feat by any stretch of the imagination, especially with the double perfect on Akuma at the end, the hardest boss character Capcom has ever released. He makes 3s Gill look like a serve bot, seriously on hardest 1 upercut = 2/3rds your life.

It's not at all easy to set up and usable in competitive play, which is why it's primarily used for display purposes. But that being said, even being able to do one button combos (that lots of deejay players can do in their sleep) and perfectly timed safe jump set ups doesn't make this game easy. IT IS FREAKN' HARD

It's funny how people act like this takes no skill. TAS makers compete against other TAS makers, not speedrunners. The challenge comes from using and extreme amount of patient experimentation and programming knowledge to push the game to it's limits. On top of that, they're expected to make it entertaining and keep it on record for other players to verify. If anything they are much more time consuming than normal speed runs.

@0cool1984 About Tool assisted, The guy pretty much used save states. When you're fighting, you can save the game at any moment. If you get hit, just load the game from that previous save spot instantly. A 20 second fight here probably took over 5-10 minutes to record. At the end of your play, the emulator allows you to watch and record your flawless playthrough. Making it look like it took you no effort to beat the game. It's pretty cool. You should try it out. :)
