let's be honest, she doesn't have the best voice ever. But it's sweet, that's what it is. It's nice to listen to and this song is a great choice for her. It's a sweet and beautiful song. Good song selection, good vocals with some gusto - I've never heard her feeling a song more than this one so props.
she really could have done a much better job. this sounds too 90's britney spears pop voice-ish. i know mandy's better than this, just wish it was done as well as i know it could have been
I go to singing lessons at a dance school, and we are doing an alice in wonderland themed show, and this is what my singing group are doing! I love this version!!
i heard this on my pandora, and i did a double take. i love the original version of this song, but Mandy's vocals are great. I'm a singer myself, and when i heard her opening notes, i immediately had to find the song on itunes and buy it. Absolutely wonderful!
Question for poster of song: do you know why it goes back to the beginning briefly at the end, after a silence? Is that a mistake? I have listened to this song many times in the last 1+ years, so I always wondered about that...Thanks for posting it!
Been an Elton fan since 1972. Have many hours listening, many concerts attended. This is one of my most treasured songs. I have always liked Mandy Moore. After hearing her cover of this song, my thoughts of Mandy have gone from liking her to loving and respecting her as a vocalist.
too much ballad in this, it's so sentimental. elton was just pounding out a rock song. the best cover of this song is by the indigo girls. also, it doesn't need all the production and orchestration.
well, i was expecting a trashy-pop version, but....that was excellent! and impressive that it was completed in only 8 seconds less than the original 5:00 Elton John recording.
This is such a good cover, it retains the emotion of the original, and it doesn't weaken the message and power of the song with stupid bubble gum pop idiocy.
I really was expecting some stupid pop version but this sounds almost like gospel :)

Not bad. The instrumental stuff that comes in around 1:40 could have been scaled back a little bit.
