  • Thank you Kathy Bates for shedding light on this silent killer. I lost my mom this year to ovarian cancer after an eight year battle. She didn't know she had it and put off visiting her doctor. Her story is so common and we need to get the message out to all women. Thank you again for sharing your personal story.

  • fooseball is the devil

  • she is one of the best actresses ever

  • Thank you Kathy! I am a 15 yr survivor of stage 3 clear cell carcinoma, diagnosed in my early 30s. For those, just diagnosed, keep fighting! There is hope!

If you have not been diagnosed, watch for the symptoms, and if you think there is a problem, ask for an intravaginal ultrasound.

  • What would make one experience abdominal pain and the other not?

  • thank you Kathy Bates!! I am now a 5 year O/C survivor! I was diagnosed with 2C stage...I did all the chemo stuff...

I guess I am one of the lucky ones....although the chemo gave me severe peripheral neuropathy in my feet and it is painful and difficult to walk.. I

I first noticed that my stomach was bigger and that didn't make sense..and I had to pee alot,,and I could feel a large soft lump in my stomach..it was clear, but

the one ovary was ugly looking...

  • thank you so much for this video, my mum has been diagnosed with stage 3 OC and its devestated our family but watching this has cheered my mum up so much

  • BRAVO!!! First for surviving, second for the advice. Women really need to hear this. The "spitting up" is some kind of gastroparesis, I have it too. I had a lot of the same symptoms, but the doctors found Stein Leventhal Syndrome (PCOS) and not cancer. The doctors aren't always that great about helping, one doctor told me to psych myself out of the symptoms. You can't quite do that. I realized if it's "odd" then check the ovaries. it's also bull@h*t that insurance can deny you for pcos.

  • she´s pretty

  • You can get the audio-mp3 of this tune at grabaudios doht cohm.

  • What a great lady.

  • My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer recently. Thank you, Kathy Bates for getting the word out. She also is going through 6 rounds of chemo. She is doing well also. She is my inspiration. You are an inspiration as well. We need some more awareness about this disease. God bless all of the strong, brave women going through this. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  • hey

  • I also have ovarian cancer. I am only 24, I have a 2 and 3 yr old. I beat all the statistics. I shouldnt have cancer this young, at least this type. Myself and a few other women, and men, have started a charity group helping gynecological and breast cancer patients in financial assistance. 100% of proceeds go to the cause.

  • @ashlyrm14 Fortunately here in Australia, all public medical treatment is free. Our high taxes fund our medical system. No one needs to find money for good health treatment. And, we have free screenings for certain cancers. Prostate & Breasts.

  • I love you for saying it was the best thing that ever happened to you. In so many ways I feel the same, even though I would never want to go through it again. Thanks for sharing your story. You'll educate so many women!

  • Wow - the nerve to talk openly about this. Strong.

    Wow.

    Think I've become a fan.

  • I agree!

  • Exactly. I admire her candor.

  • I can't believe how similar our stories are! Ahhh! Amazing. I, also, believe getting ovarian cancer was one of the best things that had to me because it made me prioritize my life.

    Woo! Go Kathy!

  • Hey she's alive!!! That was just a rumor!!!

  • IMDB and Wiki are reorting she died today-on her birthday?

  • when female cancer of any kind appears we must act quickly to treat it. This must involve the removal of all female sites where this cancer can matastisize. Breast, Ovaries and Uterus. Sadly my neighbor passed away late Xmas Eve from what had started out as breast cancer. Cancer spread to the remaining single ovary they had left floating in the abdomin, which lodged against her her bladder, inoperable, incurable and deseased. After all her suffering, one single ovary ended her life.. How tragic.

  • same Kathy Bates from misery?

  • @samsciacca369 absolutely

  • I lost my sister, Lee Anne Ozee (37) to ovarian cancer in 2006. For her, the symptoms were mild suggesting GI issues rather than cancer. There was bloating, gas and difficulty with bowel movements and we treated it as such. Before we knew it, we were saying goodbye. The motto for the ovarian cancer society is: "It whispers....so, listen." Most women believe that regular GYN appts check for this, but they don't. They only offer it to those with heightened risk factors due to cost.

  • Jessica Tandy and Gilda Radner both dies from this disease. It isn't picky and sure isn't for wussies.

Ms. Bates, you're in my thoughts. You're tough, I know. You can fight this and win. Win it for my sister. Win it for all the others.

In memory of Lee Anne Ozee, the beautiful little deaf lady from Texas. I will outlive my big sister next year which is something that looms in the distance for me like a sinister blackness I cannot escape. Losing her has been hard.

  • Kathy Bates,

Once again, cancer shows that it will attack anyone, even a talented tuffy like you. Best wishes and good luck.

My wife brought home "thefamilythatpreys". Good ensemblem good script, and well dones, all around.

Enter BertGriffin88 and 24 of my original songs will become available. Take a listen to my songs, "(Obama's Song) Waiting So Long", "She's A Bright Light", "Trust Me Baby, I Can Handle What's Wrong".

    Hope you get well soon.

    Good Luck

  • I am 29 and they keep testing me for it have not found anything yet but I am deathly scared. I know it's a killer and doctors do not care these days they are just worried about breat cancer and cervical which are more easily treated and u can live with them!

  • She is absolutely one of THE most incredible actresses of all time. if they paired her and Sally Field together in a drama it would be an outstanding performance no doubt

  • @gettinhitched I agree with that! Never would have entered my head, but now you said it it's a BRILLIANT suggestion.

  • I'm glade she alright. I would love to neet with her one day and hang out.

  • Thank you Kathy Bates. I wish the video mentioned that 75% of ovarian cancer is diagnosed in advanced stages (like me) where 5 yr survival is 45% with I think 70-90% chance of reoccurrence. Once it reoccurs, it usually returns in the same or less time. If Kathy Bates was in early stages, she's 1 of the lucky few. All woman need to be aware of this cancer. Nothing against breast cancer, but could we stop with the pink ribbon flood and send some funding to the much more deadly ovarian cancer?

  • You took the words right out of my mouth. Sometimes I think the "orphan cancers" need to band together.

Come here pancreatic etc! We'll stand with you.

  • @aj929498 I mistyped. 75 % of ovarian cancer patients have 15-35% survival (overall ovarian cancer survival with the lucky early diagnosed patients added is 45%)

  • @aj929498 The breast cancer comment was unnecessary. Prayers for all victims for cancer.

  • Thanks for helping to get awareness out there! I too had Ovarian cancer and survived. One of my mission has been to help to educate as many people as I can to the symptoms of this deadly disease.

  • Good woman Kathy Bates for coming out and making this video. It takes some courage and we thank you. We wish you all the best:)

  • Awareness is so important and you are saving lives through your story. Maybe not the life of the person watching but maybe of someone that person knows who they tell about your video.

I was Sept. 5 2008 with ovarian cancer-the cancerous cells was encapsulated inside a soccer ball sized mass, so no chemotherapy or radiation; importantly, it was removed at an early stages. Now, I talk with everyone about ovarian cancer and hope it makes a difference. Gotta kick cancer's butt soon.

  • wow.... kathy you are so strong! you are a inspiration!!
