  • this is such a fail

  • This guy seems like a fantastic man, congratulations too him, worked hard at something and it payed off.

  • @Awakening085 He actually won an award recently for being a good citizen and he'll be at the White House soon.

  • @Charlesperalo but what if it's all an act and his real hobby is strangling teenagers? HAPPENS ALL TEH TIME BREH.

  • he totally deserved it.

  • Hopefully they figure out a way to make the paper grip well on carpet and pavement. Maybe with sandpaper too?

  • where do i buty one

  • Actually, I'd say he really did deserve to win this contest - it is a cool idea. What a great teacher! Good job Sir!

  • I would totally buy this! Is it on the market? It looks like so much fun :D

  • nice idea the first actually

  • it be good to know what people really need and start to think from there on. just a suggestion.

  • The awesome's great and so is the inventor.

  • epically simple and awesome. One of those things you can't believe haven't been invented already.

  • I would definitely buy this.

It's like Lego but with for a wider range of ages.

  • Yeah, that's a pretty cool product, I would buy it.. By the way, who's the blond judge? She's hawt!

  • Awesome idea! My son would love this!!

  • my uncle was on dis show and now he is rich O_o

  • i want one and can u make a helicopter? but theres a fault in this as with the boat paper and water dont mix and with the electrics aswell it will just be a bad thing

  • use tin foil on the bottom part to prevent it from sucking up water and sinking i wish this would be sold in sweden it would be great :P

  • that's pretty cool.

  • Sometimes inventors dont have what it takes to be entrepreneur, but sometimes they do. Rick DeRennaux certainly have the right stuff the best support system there is. For a humorous look at the many sizes and shapes support in, check out Ventureneers video.

  • While this is a very innovative product, papercraft has been around for quite some time. But marketing those tools and motor/controller? Golden. Retail this sucker in the right places, into mainstream, and people will buy this.

Imagine a kid obsessed with Halo making his own Warthog.

Imagine a mario kart racer you built yourself for about $1.50 for high-quality ink and paper.

I can even see it now: racing 3D paper phallus symbols. Whose can go the fastest and be more areodynamically designed?

  • I've been looking at the different American-Invention videos.. And only this one got me excited enough to come out of trolling to ask...

    Where can I buy one?

    That looks so awesome!

Even the wheels are paper?? Thats sooo cool...

    Enjoy being rich! lol

  • chyea rep oklahoma!

  • I'm sure this guy will market it successfully.

Who the fuck needs that particular panel of judges when he's got such a marketable invention.

  • Marty McFly really went downhill after retirement..

  • I can't believe this guy lost to a Christmas Tree fire extinguisher. It's called a handheld foam extinguisher, they're like 35 bucks.

  • I don't understand how something this cool, this marketable, this innovative, could have lost to that stupid christmas tree extinguisher. Take five seconds and think about it. What are more people going to want--something to prevent a possible holiday-related fire or something awesome like remote controlled, DIY, customizable paper vehicles?

  • Thanks for the comment, it made me laugh!

    Rick D.

  • this genius wouldve won if he cried on the stage saying i love my love, i love my family they've been so close.. i mean this competition is about good inventions and not a weeping asshole tree fire protector. i still dont understand why greg chavez cry so much for nothing. Apparently americans voted for the most emotional guy

  • nice lowrider

  • Most folks don't notice the truck.

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • hey are your cars/trucks and planes digi proportional? They look sweet and fun to build and race. oh and the boats to!

  • I do not know what digi proportional is so i don't believe that they are.

    R

  • since when is george foreman the authority on inventing?

  • Since they needed recognizable celebrities.

  • Well that, and his invention of the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Reducin' Grillin' Machine.

  • Indeed...though I don't know if he actually invented that.

  • id buy this but what if it rained or a strong wind blew?

anyways with all the junk i waste money on id defenitly buy this it looks to cool to pass up

  • wow i like totally want a kit i'd make a gazillon paper trains trucks ect. i LOVE it

  • I want 1 soo bad. Can he sell em soon? I want to make like 1000 Paper anything.

  • are those out in stores for sale?

  • that was cool.

You could build a train (carts) and make it move under one single motor.... COOL

  • thats awesome, i wonder what invention beat this one

  • haha i think it was a chrismas tree sprinkler (when it catches on fire)hahahaha im not sure though

  • I could buy this, depends of the price

  • how did he not win?

  • OMG! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want one !!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡

  • 4 yes

    5 stars

  • Thats a brilliant idea

  • man, that would be awesome

  • great invention indeed

  • Brilliant invention!!

I never saw this program, but I hope he's done well out of it.

  • yea - but you still want one

    :D

  • That's an amazing invention. I'd buy one.

  • see, the possibilities are endless! =D

  • I would buy that.

  • How does it work with paper though? Wheels made out of paper? Is it construction paper or something? Maybe it's just folded to be really thick. I'm curious now.

  • i want one....... now.....sell me one......

  • HAHAHAHAH

  • That was so cute, when he leaped and ran to tell everyone he had four yesses, lol.

  • that is way cool! i would so buy that. i wish i had him as a teacher -_- lol

  • Such a simple but great invention.Good job.

  • haha

  • wow cool rc cars made of paper it would be so cool to simulate crashes :DD

  • RC Paper??? WOW

  • wish i had him for a teacher as a kid

  • why didnt i think of thiS?

  • ummm wtf I WANT ONE NAOOOO D=

  • thats is really genus.

  • Holy shit. This idea is so original. If it comes onto the market im buying one cause this is just unreal!

  • seriously that is amazing and i dont know how to explain it, and omg he is like so so smarttt

  • I want one!!!

  • seriously where can i get these!

  • incredible

  • that rlly is cool where can i buy 1?

  • Rick is awesome!

  • By the way, this guy reminds me somewhat of my Physics teacher.

  • I want it, I'm into hobby engineering

  • thats so fricken cool i want one you just use paper that is so cool

  • Excellent! I would so buy that and I'm 28 hell me and my son would love it. I think it also will help the little ones develope there motor skills too!

  • what a nice guy lol

  • Awesome :)

  • its awesome

  • The cool part is that people could make their own designs, and post them online. Then others could print out the designs, and make them.

  • "i think is cool" what kind of jury is that?... that girl is stupid... and u too

  • Well, what's the reason you'd buy this? Because it's cool, that's why. It's a valid argument.

  • if u buy something just cause is "cool" u need help

  • Well obviously I don't buy this kind of stuff, but if my son thought it was cool, I'd probably get it for him as a birthday present. It may boost his creativity or intelligence too.

  • paper?quite cool but wouldnt it sink if you made a boat like he said you could and put it in the water?

  • actually.. yeah, u're right

but still... you could play pretty hardcore paper plane wars in the classroom haha

teacher's annoyance level up to 200% haha

  • I actually want that!

  • That's really cool!

  • :( why i didnt have a teacher like him !! man hes so smart and cool ..i cant wait to buy one

  • Now this is what we call an "invention"!

  • clever & talented

  • wow i want one of those

  • hell, i want a teacher like that!

  • were the hell do they SELL THESE i want one!

  • i want one did they ever start selling them

  • nice idea

  • haha well done. great idea that will engage kids.

  • I want one of them!!!

  • i wish i had a teacher like that

  • very good invention id buy/print 1 lol and i agree if this was on dragons den he would have done beter because the people on that have more experience with toys etc or shops that would sell this product but this is the first american ive seen that has actualy invented something good !!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone else kinda fancy the blonde mamasita?

  • Dragons Den is much more professional though, they get asked for X amount and present an argument (the guy with the magazine got £750K , that's around $1.5 million..) this is more like American idol. Think Duncan Banatyne should be in it though.

  • hi I want them in my country, this invention is cool.

  • im gon buy one of those toys... hehe

  • Where can i get this kit???? I want one soo bad. They look really cool

  • that's a fantastic idea!!! after seeing the guy with a portable WC in a bag I thought that TV show was crappy, but THIS is a great idea.

  • Those are cool, he looks like quazimodo.

  • what an invention lol guys a genius

  • this is great, what a fantastic idea

  • Is this t.v. show still going ?

Didn't they already complete the 2nd season ?

The American Inventor website, doesn't make any mention of a 3rd season.

Anybody know what's going on ?

  • nope in the uk the first 1 of the second season started 2night

  • this just makes me think...y buy those $20-$60 rc cars and boats wen yous can have this and make wut ever design you want...

  • Very cool idea...

  • id buy that ... and a crap load of paper

  • agreed, to construct a real sized ferrari ;)

  • im a girl, and i dont like cars and airplanes so much... but I WOULD SERIOUSLY BUY THAT

  • KOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool id like to buy one of those kits

  • wow i would totaly buy one that is so cool

  • That must feel so good!

    = )

  • I watched your other video, the test flight. That's tight.

  • This is cool. Where can I buy some?

  • I own a few hobby shops in Texas and I know these kits would sell and sell quickly. These HT Racers would be affordable for everyone to buy. What is great is if the plane or boat breaks (like the foam and plastic ones do eventually) - you just need to buy more paper and build another.

  • I WANT ONE!!!!

  • That looks very cool, I would give him a yes.

  • Great job! +1!

  • Google HT Racers Test Flights (in the Video Tab)and you can watch a video of the airplanes and take-offs.

    Rick

  • wait, so does the plane fly?

  • this man is awesome. props. i want to buy them

  • Actually pretty rad.

  • I want one.. I really hope you can get these kits on the market. Awesome invention. And I do agree that keeping this cheap is a good idea.

  • Wait so that was you who created this invention??!!

    :O

  • thats very cool were can i get a kit?

  • Wow, I would buy one. Does it come with just one motor?

  • What is the cost of the kit If it is in production

  • I want one of those.

  • Great idea!

  • HT Racers really really rocks!

  • It is totally possible to build a remote control airplane with his paper HT Racers kit.

The final show had him flying it all over.

Can't wait to buy some of these kits. I want one now!!!

  • Can you really build radio-controlled aircraft with this? If so, I don't see how it could go beyond adding a propeller. Having controllable ailerons, rudder, etc on a paper aircraft to control its flight seems impossible. I'm not sure how the cars can steer either.

  • that is awesome he should like get stranger paper that you can put in you printer

  • i hope u get tons of money for this idea!

  • Great invention.

  • I want one. I hope like crazy the guy has patented the hell out of this idea. It's brilliant. Design on your computer. Print out. Fold and tape. Add motor.

    Brilliant.

  • I definitely will buy a kit.

I'll buy a few of them, then I can race them all at once.

This is definitely the best thing I have seen on American Inventor. Nice to see someone from the heartland get recognition on tv.

    Your invention is the best!!!!

  • Genius! To take origami and put

    remote control transmitters on them!

    Ha! It so makes sense.

This is the best invention ever on

American Inventor. It is going to sell

    like crazy.

Finally American Inventor has a winning

    product.

Fantastic!!! I'll be buying this kit

the day it hits the shelves.

  • I totally want a kit. It would be

great to make all sorts of animals

and have birds that fly everywhere.

I hope they are out for Christmas!

Does anyone know if they will be? Can we order them now?

  • It would be so cool to have a website

that everyone could post their own designs.

HT Racers could be bigger than Legos and

    cool as Transformers. Awesome!!!!

  • I'm 39 years old and I want one of those kits!!!

  • I loved your HT Racers on American Inventor. I'm 8

years old and I can't wait to buy them!

  • krina this video is so cool

  • I think you get both option in the HT Racers kit. You can modify designs the kit provides and you can design and build remote control anything! Totally cool.

  • I would like one of these kits, but I do not understand how the design part worked. Can you design from scratch or only modify existing designs?

  • I want a kit. To design RC model planes that can fly would be so awesome! Come on American Inventor put this product on the market!!!

  • Rick! Your presentation was great!!!! We all voted for you and know you will win!
