I think that is the problem, when Fallout 3 is looked at people think of Oblivion and it's game style and game engine instead of thinking about the original Fallout franchise since it is completely different from them.

I am fed up with people who should know better calling this an 'action rpg' or an 'rpg shooter'! It is quite simply a cRPG Computer Roleplaying Game! Just because it has guns and rifles rather than swords and maces! Would you call Oblivion an 'action rpg' or an 'rpg shooter'? What about Fallout 1 and 2? What about Wasteland? What about Daggerfall and Morrowind? Every cRPG has combat, but it's the character stats and attributes and perks and SPECIAL system that makes Fallout 3 totally an cRPG!

Well, it really is more a sequel to oblivion styled after fallout, were it a true sequel to Fallout 2, it would be Isometric and turn based, not a first person shooter with V.A.T.S. I'm not saying its a bad game, it's just an overhaul of Oblivion. And I wasn't saying the Karma system wasn't in Fallout 3(CoughPostApocalypticOblivion­) I'm saying it wasn't made by Bethesda, which is what he implied, Interplay created and implemented it, they just carried it over.

i dont like Oblivion very much, its not that great, the damage you deal out in it is really bad, take a bow for example, it sucks in the game, but in real life it has been proved to be one of the best weapons

a tip if youd dont know this already and for beginners. when in a shop. crouch, and when hidden, steal everything you see (although gives bad karma) then sell it at another shop for a profit. it helps to get those extra rounds for your gun or even the upgrade to a Brahmin Skin suit. :P

Lol true, but all endings are easily chosen by the system. It's all based on skill level and Karma. Kinda easy to figure out how it works unfortunately, but awesome game nonetheless.

yes, it is free-roaming. there is a TON of places to visit such as megaton. as u might know already fallout 3 is kick ass and if u dont have it i highly recommend it. i have it and cant stop playing.

With modding the combat in the game becomes amazing. Display: no hud, combat over_haul to get rid of vats, boosts one weapon skill to 100 and lowers others to near 0, bullet_time is my new VATS and then hunger based regeneration. It's an open world Cod-Hardcore/FEAR mash ^^
