I felt some aversion for a self-satisfaction performance of the feelings full exposure. This music is a baroque style. However, your performance is music of the romance style. This interpretation that you play is very unpleasant. I think this performance to be inadequate.
Hi, I ' m a piano tuner, and a musician. I' m italian but I write in english so everybody can understand. Why the upper notes of your piano are always out of tune, more than the others? This could be the sign of a bad "crafted" tuning. When the piano tuner is bad, or lazy, he doesn' t pay enough attention to the high notes... That' s what I wanted to say.
I'm sorry, I don't agree with your interpretation of this piece. It does't "feel" a true Baroque piece the way that you play it. Having said that, you play very well.
Incredible!! I too had a Seiler grand (186) for many years, and I adored and adore that piano. I sold it, and when I began again with piano, I bought this Rieger Kloss (Bohemia piano). Less refined than Seiler, but equally good, warm sound.
The ornaments use are not what I was taught. There may be various ways to play them I guess. Also, the first variation is technically supposed to be played using "note inagale" or unequal notes. Are you familiar with this type of playing(articulation)?
The "note inegales" are obliged with the harpsichord, at piano I find more effective another kind of "time distribution", based on the different duration of the sound.
The ornaments here are really nothing of particular.....again thanks.
I find agreeable your approach to this piece. It has provided me a fresh insight into the work. I have always been fond of it, and you looked as though you enjoyed playing it. In a detached way, I enjoyed enjoying it with you. Thank you.

Ces pièces se prêtent à une infinité d'interprétations. Je les ai découvertes moi-même sur l'album électronique de Bob James (qui faisait pousser des hauts cris aux puristes). What a beautiful, heartfelt interpretation of this astounding piece. Art is a gift to people we will never know. From Rameau to you, from you to me, from me (an amateur poet) perhaps to someone else.
Amateur poet.....I like and respect poetry and literature also much than music, really. I prefer to make public my musical results because here I have more confidence, but without poetry and literature also music is a non-sense.

"L'interprète ne peut émouvoir son publique que lorsqu'il est lui-même ému." And I think it was quite obvious how you felt while playing! I really did enjoy your performance. I am a fan of this particular peice too.
These your words about music interpretation are, in my opinion, more important than my possible good or bad playing. Really, I don't think to be nothing special as pianist and I'm happy of my amateur dimension, but I feel so important the emotional aspects in playing, and I try to give a modest example of this approach (without I'm not interested in music). Thank you by heart.
My friend - it was fantastique!!! And, thrilling. More please. It is great to hear the classic French harpsichord music through these new ears. Many thanks!
I'm not sure I know what Rameau "IS", but I know a little what he "IS NOT" :o). For instance, the 6th variation, played as you do with pedal (and so quickly you can't avoid some visible mistakes), loses all the kind precision it has on an harpischord, and that you can achieve on a piano (listen to Marcelle Meyer for instance). I'm not speaking about "composer wishes", just about what is written on the score.
And by the way, it is written with repeats on each first part.
If you tell "this is not Rameau" it's because you know who he is, no doubts.
Don't you like my version? No problems, other

I'm quite thrilled to hear a "non-reference" version of this piece. God knows there are enough "correct" versions out there. It was Rossini who said "every kind of music is good, except the boring kind." This may not be exactly what Rameau wrote, but it certainly isn't boring.

Beautifully played! I`ve listened to it several times and always come back. Will ask my teacher if I can play it, too. That is, if it`s not too difficult... Keep up the great playing!!
My piano teacher would kill me if she saw me hit a key like that, BUT you are able to produce a wonderfully soft tone with the technique. It fits perfectly with your interpretation of the piece. More power to you, and thanks for this incredible performance... it's influenced me in a few ways with the way I play this piece.
Hi bremehn! Thank you for your so kind feedback. But pay attention: for exams, competitions and similar things, do not play so! Assured failure, eheh. But I play only for my pleasure, and then I can do as I like.
Happy someone like you and other ones appreciate some aspects of my playing. Again thank you and all the best.
Apologies for this late reply! I played this piece for a final exam in college (minus the upside-down finger) and scored almost perfectly! I have you to thank for some of the musical interpretation! Now I can play it on MY terms... and I will be using the upside-down finger hahahaha
I have one question: Why do you stick so rigidly to the notes? As far as tempo, dynamics, expression and so on is concerned, you take every liberty which is thinkable. But what makes you stick to the notes? Seriously, to me your play seems not inspired but on the contrary inhibited by what the composer wrote. Maybe you feel fine when playing like that, but when watching this I personally felt the strong need to break out of the piece completely. Don't you feel emprisoned by the notes?
Ahah, il numero di telefono Rameau avrebbe sicuramente desiderato averlo, si congratulerebbe per le licenze poetiche e per l'indice supinato sui tasti.

Ok, but "stability and regularity" as an actor

Ok, but "stability and regularity" as an actor
on the stage. The human, relative stabilty and regularity of the emotions, and not the not-human quantization of time. But it's a question of (also here, subjective but not completely) measure, and this my consideration is not necessarly in contrast

Thank you for your interesting feedback.
Not near rococò style, you tell....
Tou are right, but I'm not interested in re-create history. Only in the present, this is the only story we can (partially) know and above all live.
The emotional and gestures aspects are IMHO
fundamental and I'm not interested in their
inhibition. They can be disturbing or not,
but it's none of my business....neither
competition to win nor "philologic" expert to conquer. again thank you.
SarrasaniPianoCircus 3 years ago
so you don't care about what the composer intended?
i never said it had to be near the rococo style, i just mentioned that it wasn't.
if you're more focused on your experience while you're playing, and don't care about what people think, then why are you posting it on youtube?
elizabeth09812 3 years ago
Please tell me telephone number of Rameau, so I'll know his thinking.
For my opinion these is a silly approach, (to respect the composer's wishes, as they are known....
really silly, also because these eternal wishes are different year after year, as the
fashion. I'm more interested in beauty and comunication than in musicologic fashion).
Why I update here? Because someone is interested in, as you can read in some comments (sorry for you).
Sad thing, the "unique thinking"....
