  • I have a '99 Blazer that needs a new muffler. How easy is it to change out yourself? I'm thinking of leaving the original cat, and putting a Magnaflow or something similar in.

  • and all you did was replace the cat (catalytic converter) is this a MagnaFlow 36006 universal cat converter?

  • @littleelvisofMA

It's a universal magnaflow cat but I don't know the model number. I replaced the stock muffler with a magnaflow muffler as well (don't know the model number of it either). Additionally, the stock 2.25" pipe has been replaced with 2.5" pipe from the cat back.

  • @otniet can you please make a video showing what kind of magnaflow muffler is it cause I want to change mine but the indian guy whose selling magnaflow mufflers doesn't know the models please please, Love the way your chevy sounds :)

  • Gotta say I like the sound of the magnaflows for 4.3l v6 engines... definitely no symphony of shotguns when it comes to volume but the tone is great in low and mid range rpms

  • Great sound from the 4.3! Nice work!

  • im about to buy a blazer my camaro is driving me nuts... fuck sports cars when i can have the baddest system in the area lol

  • i got a 96 blazer and it is way louder than that and yea its a 4.3 V6

  • there are two cats on this right?

  • @tbirdsport302

    no, just one cat.

  • so i backed into a short little concrete pole the other night with my 97 blazer. i muffed the bumper up a bit and bent my tail pipe, and now its hanging down a few inches above the ground. i could take it out and bend it but idk how to do that, really... should i just buy a new OE pipe? how hard is it to replace something like that? thanks

  • do you know what the horsepower gain is?

  • @crazyRm125rider17

I wouldn't expect much. Its not like these trucks are that powerful to begin with...

  • @otniet yea. these 4.3's are good engins though.

  • @crazyRm125rider17 I've done a few cheap mods over the years like trimming the fin off the blade in the throttle body as well as having the PCM tuned and a K&N cold air intake. I'd guess a 5-10hp gain with all of that. I think the K&N came with some chart showing a 7hp gain but its pretty high in the powerband and not something you'd encounter with typical city driving.

But I agree, this truck has been phenomenal. Just hit 140k and it's still running strong

  • @otniet my 97 is at 199k still goin strong! pull two jet skis, and my two snowmobiles every winter no problem. gotta love GMs!

  • @otniet i have a 1998 blazer 2 door and it gets up and goes with no problem and will easly get to 100

  • Nice blazer, maybe someday i'll that to mine

  • How does it sound on the highway? I'm looking to replace the exhaust system on my 93 S10 Blazer, I'm not sure which brand to choose. I want something that sounds good but isn't going to drive me crazy driving to work an hour each way on the highway.

  • Sounds good but I like the way a flowmaster sounds on em. Thats what I have. Check it out. But it does have a good rumble at idle

  • sounds good, but that tip is just tacky.

  • where did u get that tip

  • That's a Magnaflow double wall rolled edge tip, not cheap but look awesome.

  • good ol ebay my friend. i think there anywhere from 20 - 30 bucks.. its well worth the $ too cause of the resonaters in them... idk i may be wrong.. but i seen a set just like that on ebay..

  • sounds like rice

  • hey I have a 2000 chevy blazer, 4.3 I think and I wanna put a sweet muffler and exhaust on it? Any suggestions?

  • I have a suggestion:

    SAVE YOUR MONEY!

  • magnaflow muffler and dual pipes. i did that to mine and its pretty nice. especially when the muffler starts to flame out and it gets even louder

  • FLOWMASTER 40

  • wtf i have a 99 blazer LS and same colour too haha HOWEVER the god damn springs or something with the suspension is sqeaky too! i've already wasted so much money on it

  • 99 was for some reason the worst year for blazers, my dads 4 door LS's always has the transfer case go..and he doesnt even use it. but hey its like every other vehicle some are good some are piles of shit.

  • hey i thought my 98's unit went but i got to checking vacuum hoses and one had burst

  • I Have a 1997 Blazer LT 4DR and its a beauty...but recently their has been a wire shortage...my exterior lights went all fucky :P

  • @Bmurls you use the transfer case every time you drive. the rear and front axles both go through the t-case

  • i like those tips,

  • hahaha

  • What id the diameter of the exhaust pipe on that?

  • I can't remember for sure, I'll try and remember and measure it for you.

I'm pretty sure its 2.5" up from the 2.25" that is stock but again, I'm not entirely sure.

  • that sounds pretty good. you should check out my vid for my flowmaster. i used to have a cherry bomb on my 95 cuz i wanted to be diffent. but on my 02 i put a flowmaster. MUCH BETTER! check it out

  • To everyone asking how much it cost, I honestly cannot remember. There was a bad hail storm and I used some of the insurance money from the hail damage to go for the exhaust. It was an enormous check they wrote so I didn't really pay much attention to the cost of the exhaust.

I got it done at "Kenneys Muffler" in Hurst/Bedford TX. All I know for sure is, Magnaflow high-flow cat, and Magnaflow Muffler.

The exhaust tip is meant for a Corvette and I bought it at the shop as well

  • where do you order the 4300 vortech or is it stock with the truck?

  • the 4.3 is stock i got one in my S-10 with a 5 speed. love it!

  • okay thanks man

  • yea thats sounds great how much that run??? and where did you get your parts

  • wat series muffler is that?

  • about how much that caust you cuz i just got a 98 blazer

  • idk if you could tell me if this is the through type of muffler or chambered but id like to know.

  • As far as I know, all magnaflow's are the less restrictive 'straight-through' design...

  • oh i thought it was just the round magnaflows. i was pretty sure they made a chambered one.

  • the magnaflow XL is a 3 chamber muffler.

  • I got a hemi with a dodge in it... But I have no windows or headlights... How do I increase my HP without loosing to many more parts?

  • LOL Hemi with a Dodge in it? Really

  • gregg sounds like hes tellin tall tales or hes just talkin bout someone elses ride. a hemi with a dodge in it????? right. u mean a dodge with hemi in it. doesnt even say what dodge it is.

  • LOL Gregg,

    You crazy kid...

  • i have a 96 jimmy. same setup as a blazer pretty much. i did a straight pipe into a super 44 flowmaster with a side exit.the thing is i cut off the cat. (illegal i know) but from there on back i had 2 or 3 sensors after that that i couldnt replace. so consequently my check engine light is on constantly. how much will this affect my gas mileage?

  • "from there on back i had 2 or 3 sensors after that that i couldnt replace"

I take that to mean you are missing the downstream (after the cat) O2 sensors. In a properly working exhaust system, the downstream sensors monitor the exhaust gases and feed info to the PCM that let it know whether or not to adjust the air/fuel ratio. If your engine is running lean or rich, the O2 sensors will help fix it.

  • Hey man ive gotta 98 blazer also, how much did this cost you for everything including installation??

  • u should make a vid of driving or flybys or somethin where its movin...:)

  • I'll try.

I have a nice digital voice recorder that works better than my camera but I'm not sure how to upload just a soundclip to youtube.

I'll try and find a way though.

  • cool....cant help ya with the uploading part tho

  • wat kind of magnaflow is that

  • Did you ever get a "Service Engine Soon" light after you did this? Cause I have a '96 blazer, and I'm thinking about getting a Magnaflow high flow cat, and the muffler also done at a muffler shop. But I don't want any problems with emissions.

  • No, not from the exhaust. I have heard about the highflow cat causing problems with the down stream O2 sensor but I didn't have any problems.

I haven't noticed it running any more lean or rich than it did before the exhaust.

  • my advice (not that u asked) is not to get a high flow cat. i'm not just sayin that either i bought one for my 95 4.3. my cat went out so i thought to replace it with a high flow and i got a cherry bomb and 2.5 pipe from cat back. there's no real difference with a high flow cat like at all. there only good for if you have larger diameter pipes in front and after the cat, which would only hurt unless your boosted or blown. intake, e fan, tb spacer, mach pulleys. get those first. 4.3's forever!

  • i know the dynomax website has some kits for Blazerz

  • wow this sounds amazing!

  • I posted it 97 blazer exhaust

  • It says video removed by user...

    I added another one too

  • Getting exhaust done this wednesday hopefully video thursday

  • Nice

  • Just ordered muffler 2 days ago will put a video on

  • Was it the 70$ cat? and what muffler brand? Sounds sweet, and plus i need a new cat and was looking at the 70 $ one.

  • The cat and muffler are both Magnaflow. I don't remember the prices anymore but I think the cat was around $75

    blazerforums DOT net

  • ok so i got to know i have a 98 blazer 4 door and that system sounds nice i want to know where u found your system

  • I had it installed at a local exhaust shop. I don't think there are many bolt-on kits available for Blazer's/Jimmy's...

  • Sounds like a V8. Awesome!

  • u should really let us hear wat it sound like rev it up man

  • :( It doesn't sound as good when it's revved up higher. Plus, driving around the city, I RARELY get above 2500-3000rpm....

I'll see if I can take another video clip later this week or next.

  • man it called riv your ingian youwe can hear it k

  • did you come out with duals or just the single outlet...does this have an oxygen sensor behind the cat?

  • How much did you pay for your cat? Is it the new 4300 version that is 235+ or is it the universal fit that is around $65 to $80

  • flows sound better but not bad for Magnaflow

  • what kind of magnaflow? sounds sick
