Should always put switch on the hot wire, if you break the common you can be electrocuted by doing something like chaning the lightbulb, or if the light failed turning it off wont break the current.
no it true putting a switch on the common or for ignorant ppl like activedonut, the WHITE one, the risk of shock is increased by far. not jargon is a safety tip. ppl with that additude shouldnt even mess around with electricity.

You may want to use an incidesent bulb next time, from what I know fluresent lights are sensitive to constantly being turned on and off.

they have shitloads of power up lag too. so if u switch it too fast. it wont reach its full intensity.
