i loveee your videos johnny! i hope your doing well. do you have a facebook by the way?
You said "high expectations" and I heard "pie expectations." Haha, can you tell where my mind is? Thank you so much for this video. It means so much to me. xo
I read that you fed your doggie raw food which I thought was really cool, have never heard that before. So, what do you feed him on a daily basis? Do you see a huge difference in his coat and overall attitude?
I started him raw very early. It's the best and most natural way to eat, especially for dogs. He has a BEAUTIFUL coat and is very strong and healthy. RAW improves many health conditions - for humans and animals. I feed him raw, quality ground beef from my local butcher, 1.5lbs per meal - sometimes a little more. I also give him fresh pulp from my juicer, organic fruits n vegetables of various sorts, fresh coconut meat, avocados, spirulina, cod liver oil when he has it-he is out! raw meaty bones
search my video log for german shepherd and you will see 2 movies of him... one of him doing ballet and howling - is the most recent.. he is about 85lbs now
If there are leftovers in my fridge I will either give them to my dogs or freeze them. Hope u don't mind me saying that I am thankful that we don't have thanksgiving in this country?! Another food-related gathering that I don't need this close to Xmas! Thanks for another great vid Johnny :)
You bring up a very good idea: freezing them. I wouldn't suggest giving human food to dogs unless it's unprocessed or raw since human food contains harmful chemicals already enough and causes health problems in animals as well and weren't built to stomach "human food" so please be cautious as to what you give them. I have seen too many dogs develop health problems and die from table scraps, sad sigh::: Freezing your leftovers into meals is a great idea!!! Make your own tv dinners to reheat!!!
That is a good point re dogs, need to be careful; I tend to give them leftovers like meat, pasta, rice, veges (cooked bones are a no no as they can splinter). We are not a vegan or vegetarian household, but don't have much processed food either!
Oh trust me, I bet they love it! Dogs digestive tracts should be compared to hunting animals: meat, raw fleshy meat... and fruits and vegetables help but grains are not needed, nore are processed foods. I feed my German Shepherd 100 percent raw. He is healthy and very happy and looks/functions great. A common condition caused by table scraps/etc is thyroid problems - be careful of this when feeding your dogs human foods.
Meats and grain/pasta dishes that are leftovers often contain salts, sauces, etc. that will harm their bodies. Salt is by far the worst thing you can give pets. Sorry if you know this, i'm hoping other readers will see it for warning though!!!
im a woman of few words (ive posted several comments on other videos); and once again two words comes to mind when i try to think of something clever to say: thank you.
Hi Beautiful! Fresh starts happen every second of our minutes, our hours, our days! I saw your 2 newest vids, love the bday pics btw, and have faith that you will come out of this rut. You are so up on it, so aware. Embrace FRAN, embracing ED will only cause relapse. You have worked so hard. Ps. I saw a glimpse of your dog and about rolled over in giggles,HOW CUTE. Can I see more of him?????????
i did so awful yesterday. tons of pie and over a pan of stuffing. this did make me feel a bit better about it though(:family says i'm so skinny( yet i'm still a whopping 115lbs after a huge loss) they were asking me how i lost the weight. a few even cracked a few jokes about me starving myself and sticking my finger down my throat. they don't even know the half of it. i have been in this cycle of overeating and then vomiting every single fucking day for over 2 months.
Good LORD that is horrific behavior on their behalf. I'm sorry but it's just not acceptable. I understand that ignorance causes people to behave these ways and that we can try to stop the ignorance by speaking up. You have from now until Christmas to prevention plan - I have a video specifically on dealing with family on holidays... not sure if you have seen it, it's in my holiday prevention planning series.
You didn't do awful, you did what you had to do and now it's done. Move on my love. WELL for me was compromising, it didn't mean absitnence, it was trying to stick to my compromises, which I did but still addicted. Nothing new. This holiday WAS better than many though and one holiday I hope to be abstinent. We must learn and grow from what we learn.
Thanksgiving lunch [the big family meal] was so bad for me. I was literally harassed into eating a lot more than i felt comfortable with. Then today i had to do an early second meal with other family. I feel like i could never eat again and be perfectly alright with that. I am so scared to gain any weight... I kept randomly crying at work tonight. o.o" I feel fatter. I feel gross. >.>
Your ed feels gross. What will feel gross for YOU is when you end up sick as hell from starvation. Logically you aren't going to gain a bunch of weight from 2 days of holiday meals and guess what, holiday is over now. You are in charge of your own meals, choose wise - balance is key dear. If slow works best for you, do it slow, it's better than nothing at all. I also strongly suggest you look into setting boundaries: with family and also the ed. You dont need more pressure!
Thanks. I know that sometimes my logic isn't quite... logical. =/ . You're very smart. Thanks so much. I guess i just get caught up in not having control over things. Like my nana and her meals.... I was really trying to eat. I was trying. And she just kept saying "Is that all you're gonna eat? Why are you eating so slow?"
You're welcome. It's hard to remain logical when under the influence of EDs, they will warp and twist anything and everything... most of all, our brains. What happened is your ed felt out of control because it did not get control when you chose to eat with your family. Unless they have gone through it, people will not always understand so we can't hold their pressures against them... they don't know better. Most are just concerned, like nana. Pick back up dear and keep life going, big hugs
"Pie happens". I love that. I don't even have an eating disorder (that can be identified), however this advice is universal for anyone in any real personal struggle anyway. Bye.
Pie Happens ahahahahha I love it too, makes me smile. Thank you for this feedback, feedback from people without eds is really important to me too. I love that my vids can speak to people dealing with all sorts of issues and not just eds.
omg my eyebrows are one of my insecurities, the left is lower than the right and it drives me nuts. i wanted a brow lift but that wont solve anything or allow me true brow acceptance, so i must try to love them as they are. i hope you can too! i know it's challenging to accept things about ourselves when we are conditioned to believe so many things, such as what defines beauty, etc. that's a crack of ham on modly white bread lololol my eyebrows say THANK YOU and invite you to join them!
I was making dinner while listening to you and had a good laugh when you talked about honesty re: how serious you were about poop talk. Had an upset stomach today, so I made some mung dhal and quinoa, boiled with ginger garlic and fenugeek, pink salt and yummy fresh cracked pepper. Pt. 2 of this meal are steamed root veggies which I will then blend everything together as a yummy stew! I love these combos... brain nourishing!
OMG Beet, I about rolled over when I read this... all those things listed will DISrupt a stomach unless you are using them for constipation purposes. OMG all those spices are warming and the worst thing for tummy upset... omgomogmg I hope you are okay after sweetie. I know you wrote this while making it, shit wish I would of read it first. I seriously hope your stomach is okay after that. I know you have an IRON gi tract but most people would be DOUBLED OVER in pain. I can barely take garlic!
I always seem to eat the exact OPPOSITE to what is healing for my body... haha. Whoops. I do feel way better though. Iron gut here.
How do you make your hemp nog?????????? Coconut season is pretty much done here, as soon as the snow hits, they stop shipping them (I think) Plus, I haven't been into Chinatown lately either... yummy nog. I'm going to make my smoothie now
I know sweetie, I just emailed you about this. Don't worry, if you haven't studied nutrition to the extent that I have then don't expect yourself to just know these things. You can always ask me prior too if you'd like... you know Dr. J is always in the house. Every spice and herb has it's own healing powers, they can make or break you but that depends on what exactly you are experiencing and need to fix/get help with. Your dinner does sound divine though MMMMMMMm give me some leftovers LOL
Raw Hemp Nog: Water of 1 Thai young coconut, chilled 1 very ripe banana 3 heaping tablespoons raw hemp seeds 1/2 teaspoon real raw vanilla bean - ground overdose of raw agave nectar LOL i didn't measure i just went pour happy... maybe a few tablespoons??? a few happy dashes of cinnamon - ground ice fresh raw bahri dates... about 8-10 of them it was HELLA good nutmeg would of been nice but i didnt have any - cinnamon was fine though!!!
yum! Oh, and I just realized, now that I've had real fresh dates - I know now that soaked dates have similar textures as fresh dates... I think I might be soaking my dates from now on, even just for snacking on. Easier to eat, and not as sticky to the teethy.
This is so funny, we're totally having a conversation in your video here... lol! Don't mind us people....... :)
ps I'm also going on intuition - so, despite feeling like I was about to puke on the subway, I made this soup with all that I was craving, and do feel better.
AND I love your new favourite - Earth My BODY I sang along so loudly, thank you love for the reminder. I haven't been singing lately, and forgot how energizing it is for me, in SO many ways. Yummy smoothie! I have a blueberry moustache! slurp
I love your blueberry moustache! Lick! LOL. So you were spot on correct for using ginger for nauseia, major spelling error lol...it is a warming one but it does heal this health problem. Garlic and fenugreek are warming and disruptive at times but then again ginger can be as well to those with GERD. It's all complicated. Take ginger when you feel this way and use it alone, it's healing benefits are enough as a solo medicinal food. Use your fenugreek/gas, garlic/cold prevention and healing.
black pepper/digestion... pink sea salt/mineral supplement... all these things work many wonders but that is a quick key idea for usage...and quoina, all around healing properties and complete protein! we really need to open our raw food place already... dandelions!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for the, good, solid advice. I'm way to hard on myself. And set lots of expectations up. So it was really good to hear what you had to say.
Nice! Good ideas for dealing with the take-home leftovers (which, as you say, happen). For my money, having friends over to help me get rid of them was always my favourite; it's useful in getting rid of the food without wasting or abusing it, it's good if you're so deeply into your ED that you're falling into the habit of socially isolating yourself and it's good because...hey, getting together with a few friends! Fun!
YESSSSSSSS see, that's great thinking. I was also thinking about how people could socialize their leftovers without being another big holiday oriented meal... example: having a friend over for pie and tea, or using that turkey to make a warm soup to share over a movie, taking the stuffing an stuffing portabellos or squashes, using that cranberry for an avocado, cranberry and cream cheese sandwich... shit can you tell i am not letting my orthorexia interact here!?
Really good video. I'm sure you've helped a lot of people in the 'Post-Holiday Panic'. Heck, you've helped me, and we don't even have Thanksgiving. Stuck in a 'cannot eat' rut right now because I'm so scared of bingeing... This video suddenly threw the logic back into my brain. I have a choice. It doesn't have to be either or. And if it all does just go wrong, I've done my best and tried.
Hi My Love, listen - let me carry on that train of logic if you don't mind? Smile. We both know starvation = binge. It's going to happen either way, the restriction or the binge. So resorting to starvation to prevent bingeing is not going to work. Lessons learned for many. Balance is best. Think about what you can do right now to make sure you are getting some nutrition to keep you logical. The brain needs it's fuel, anything is better than nothing. What is safe for you right now? food wise?
That can be an internal question - not one you need to address publically. On another note, thank you for the support and kind words about this vid! I am in bed hoping to nap again here soon... having some raw mushy soup I made and enjoying these lovely comments coming in! AND you are RIGHT, whatever you can do for yourself today is your best. It's what was done for THAT day and everyday is going to be different. LOVE YOU
Thank you for the encouragement. I have written myself a meal plan :) (That is HUGE for me, because, in the whole of 5 years of in and out of recovery, I have ALWAYS fought against my meal plans or never intended to follow them, so the fact that I'm pro-actively making one myself is a big deal for me :D )
I'm going to try so darn hard to stick to it. I need to deal better with Christmas/Yule than I have over the past 5 years...
Lol lovin your little hair clip bit at the end darling...I apologise that this comment is going to be a little off topic but Charlie recognised you in this video!! LOL I thought I would tell you...he's 18 mths old and going through a phase of asking "who's that" constantly during your vids...I always tell him Johnny and today he pointed and said "who's that?" I was just about to tell him when he said "Johnny" LOL he loves you too I can just tell :p take care hun love and huggz xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
OMG I love when you two watch my vids together. Now he said my name, how cute!!! This makes me chuckle!!! How does he react to the vids where I dance wild or sing random songs??? Kids are so cute as to how they react to things. I hope they don't ever scare him, sometimes silliness does scare kids omg that's never good. I use to work with kids at a daycare and we got along so well : )
ew rotflmao i just realized that was literally 10 years ago OMG i feel so old, crap back then parents flipped out if i had 1 lip ring and multiple ear piercings...and 2 star tattoos.. i hope things are more liberal these days... body mods dont make someone a good caretaker or not! hehe i love our random comments : )
He usually giggles and claps...he was a massive fan of your cacao song!!!And me too :D.I also worked in daycare-PRIVATE daycare and we all had very strict rules on what was and wasn't acceptable appearance wise but you're right how you care for the children has nothing to do with how you appear.LOL don't be feeling old!!You're not :) you're just wise and you've lived a lot of "life" if you know what I mean.Love kisses and cuddles from both of us you take care can't wait for the next vid xxxxxxxx
We dont 'do' thanksgiving here in England but i am SO scared for christmas. I KNOW how ever careful i am il either eat not enough or to much... thinking that way prob isnt a good way to start... but its my exprience... and il worry so much if i dont get enough or il want to 'compensate' if i do too much... its a horrible confusing time. YUP.
That is why you prevention plan EARLY. You will get through it, regardless. Take tips from this vid and my holiday prevention planning ones... and viwers feedback too. Balance is possible my love. HUGS
hahahah i love how serious i was when i said that, not a smirk or giggle or anything, just back on train of thought... i am so proud of your progress morgan, it's very motivating.
This was helpful to many I'm sure. I was overexercising a lil bit because I ate a lil more then I'd planned to. And then I stopped due to my red flag of logic. I played with my dogs instead! After all pie/leftovers happen :) and every day is different, thank u for this positve impactful video! It made me feel BETTER about
thank you so much for this video. i felt like i was going to die. sometimes i feel like you know exactly what i need to hear at that given time. thank you once again.
Life goes on the same way the holiday did and every year we can learn. I have had holidays where all I cared about was addicting. I learned from them and prevention plan each year for the next. I woke up this morning and my first thought was "OMG today is even harder for some than Thanksgiving itself" How can I help!?! ... and then out came this lecture. I didn't organize it because I wanted to get it online as fast as possible, considering time changes. I am blessed I could help you some!
i am so happy that i could jump up and down right now. your video was totally needed. keep doing well and hopefully someday we will both be happy with ourselves.

I use to eat them! You can make them yourself very fast if you have a food processor! It's sooo easy. Blend and then fridge to set. You don't even have to dehydrate them. I think they are fast, fun and nicely flavored but they don't fill you up. So I consider them a little booster shot to maintain the glucose levels when hungry but not a good meal replacement bar. I got the banana flavored ones, they had the most fiber and a delish flavor. The pecan pie were yummy too. What do you like?
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
Nice idea to make them yourself!! Unfortunately, I have only tried apple pie and cherry pie. I want to get myself to Trader Joe's to see what selection they have. (the store I was at only had two flavors, what gives!?) I consider them more of a snack/booster as well, and I bet they function as a good dessert too, especially with names like Pecan Pie!

Thank you so much for this Johnny! I really needed this today! I am gonna get outta this funk and try my damn best! Much love to you my dear!

You can do it! I know how hard Thanksgiving can be, especially around Italians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
If there are leftovers in my fridge I will either give them to my dogs or freeze them. Hope u don't mind me saying that I am thankful that we don't have thanksgiving in this country?! Another food-related gathering that I don't need this close to Xmas! Thanks for another great vid Johnny :)
Daphne8019 3 years ago
You bring up a very good idea: freezing them. I wouldn't suggest giving human food to dogs unless it's unprocessed or raw since human food contains harmful chemicals already enough and causes health problems in animals as well and weren't built to stomach "human food" so please be cautious as to what you give them. I have seen too many dogs develop health problems and die from table scraps, sad sigh::: Freezing your leftovers into meals is a great idea!!! Make your own tv dinners to reheat!!!
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
That is a good point re dogs, need to be careful; I tend to give them leftovers like meat, pasta, rice, veges (cooked bones are a no no as they can splinter). We are not a vegan or vegetarian household, but don't have much processed food either!
Daphne8019 3 years ago
Oh trust me, I bet they love it! Dogs digestive tracts should be compared to hunting animals: meat, raw fleshy meat... and fruits and vegetables help but grains are not needed, nore are processed foods. I feed my German Shepherd 100 percent raw. He is healthy and very happy and looks/functions great. A common condition caused by table scraps/etc is thyroid problems - be careful of this when feeding your dogs human foods.
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
Meats and grain/pasta dishes that are leftovers often contain salts, sauces, etc. that will harm their bodies. Salt is by far the worst thing you can give pets. Sorry if you know this, i'm hoping other readers will see it for warning though!!!

sometimes the shortest/smallest of words mean the most/biggest of words and thought.
so thank you too dear!

Well, at least we don't ceebrate that in Brazil...
Very well advice Johnny... yes, one day we can feel like shit but the best thing to do is to stand up and start a new day.
Every day is a new oportunity to a fresh start.
Love you!!!!

Can I see more of him?????????

i did so awful yesterday. tons of pie and over a pan of stuffing. this did make me feel a bit better about it though(:family says i'm so skinny( yet i'm still a whopping 115lbs after a huge loss) they were asking me how i lost the weight. a few even cracked a few jokes about me starving myself and sticking my finger down my throat. they don't even know the half of it. i have been in this cycle of overeating and then vomiting every single fucking day for over 2 months.
diabolicolle 3 years ago
Good LORD that is horrific behavior on their behalf. I'm sorry but it's just not acceptable. I understand that ignorance causes people to behave these ways and that we can try to stop the ignorance by speaking up. You have from now until Christmas to prevention plan - I have a video specifically on dealing with family on holidays... not sure if you have seen it, it's in my holiday prevention planning series.
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
You didn't do awful, you did what you had to do and now it's done. Move on my love. WELL for me was compromising, it didn't mean absitnence, it was trying to stick to my compromises, which I did but still addicted. Nothing new. This holiday WAS better than many though and one holiday I hope to be abstinent. We must learn and grow from what we learn.

mkay, i watched the holiday planning stoof, it was a big help ! i'm gonna use the advice.
i will get my self control back!
thank ya johnny, it's nice yo have someone who can understand and help(:

Thanksgiving lunch [the big family meal] was so bad for me. I was literally harassed into eating a lot more than i felt comfortable with. Then today i had to do an early second meal with other family. I feel like i could never eat again and be perfectly alright with that. I am so scared to gain any weight... I kept randomly crying at work tonight. o.o" I feel fatter. I feel gross. >.>
xStarvingxAngelx 3 years ago
Your ed feels gross. What will feel gross for YOU is when you end up sick as hell from starvation. Logically you aren't going to gain a bunch of weight from 2 days of holiday meals and guess what, holiday is over now. You are in charge of your own meals, choose wise - balance is key dear. If slow works best for you, do it slow, it's better than nothing at all. I also strongly suggest you look into setting boundaries: with family and also the ed. You dont need more pressure!
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
Thanks. I know that sometimes my logic isn't quite... logical. =/ . You're very smart. Thanks so much. I guess i just get caught up in not having control over things. Like my nana and her meals.... I was really trying to eat. I was trying. And she just kept saying "Is that all you're gonna eat? Why are you eating so slow?"
xStarvingxAngelx 3 years ago
You're welcome. It's hard to remain logical when under the influence of EDs, they will warp and twist anything and everything... most of all, our brains. What happened is your ed felt out of control because it did not get control when you chose to eat with your family. Unless they have gone through it, people will not always understand so we can't hold their pressures against them... they don't know better. Most are just concerned, like nana. Pick back up dear and keep life going, big hugs

"Pie happens". I love that. I don't even have an eating disorder (that can be identified), however this advice is universal for anyone in any real personal struggle anyway. Bye.
nancy4366 3 years ago
Pie Happens ahahahahha I love it too, makes me smile. Thank you for this feedback, feedback from people without eds is really important to me too. I love that my vids can speak to people dealing with all sorts of issues and not just eds.

you have really nice eyebrows..ugh..i need to get some surgery to make mine higher

omg my eyebrows are one of my insecurities, the left is lower than the right and it drives me nuts. i wanted a brow lift but that wont solve anything or allow me true brow acceptance, so i must try to love them as they are. i hope you can too! i know it's challenging to accept things about ourselves when we are conditioned to believe so many things, such as what defines beauty, etc. that's a crack of ham on modly white bread lololol my eyebrows say THANK YOU and invite you to join them!

I love these combos... brain nourishing!

and for dessert, blueberry, maca, hempseed and date smooooooothie!!!! YUM yum yum!

now that is what I'm talking about baby! I am out of coconut and sad. I wanted another raw hemp nog drink...
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
OMG Beet, I about rolled over when I read this... all those things listed will DISrupt a stomach unless you are using them for constipation purposes. OMG all those spices are warming and the worst thing for tummy upset... omgomogmg I hope you are okay after sweetie. I know you wrote this while making it, shit wish I would of read it first. I seriously hope your stomach is okay after that. I know you have an IRON gi tract but most people would be DOUBLED OVER in pain. I can barely take garlic!
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
lol...
I always seem to eat the exact OPPOSITE to what is healing for my body... haha. Whoops. I do feel way better though. Iron gut here.
How do you make your hemp nog?????????? Coconut season is pretty much done here, as soon as the snow hits, they stop shipping them (I think) Plus, I haven't been into Chinatown lately either... yummy nog. I'm going to make my smoothie now
theskinnypig 3 years ago
I know sweetie, I just emailed you about this. Don't worry, if you haven't studied nutrition to the extent that I have then don't expect yourself to just know these things. You can always ask me prior too if you'd like... you know Dr. J is always in the house. Every spice and herb has it's own healing powers, they can make or break you but that depends on what exactly you are experiencing and need to fix/get help with. Your dinner does sound divine though MMMMMMMm give me some leftovers LOL

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!

Haha, I've eavesdropping, since I learn so much from you both. :)

ps I'm also going on intuition - so, despite feeling like I was about to puke on the subway, I made this soup with all that I was craving, and do feel better.
AND I love your new favourite - Earth My BODY I sang along so loudly, thank you love for the reminder. I haven't been singing lately, and forgot how energizing it is for me, in SO many ways. Yummy smoothie! I have a blueberry moustache! slurp
theskinnypig 3 years ago
I love your blueberry moustache! Lick! LOL. So you were spot on correct for using ginger for nauseia, major spelling error lol...it is a warming one but it does heal this health problem. Garlic and fenugreek are warming and disruptive at times but then again ginger can be as well to those with GERD. It's all complicated. Take ginger when you feel this way and use it alone, it's healing benefits are enough as a solo medicinal food. Use your fenugreek/gas, garlic/cold prevention and healing.
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago
black pepper/digestion... pink sea salt/mineral supplement... all these things work many wonders but that is a quick key idea for usage...and quoina, all around healing properties and complete protein! we really need to open our raw food place already... dandelions!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a lot for the, good, solid advice. I'm way to hard on myself. And set lots of expectations up. So it was really good to hear what you had to say.
hberry567 3 years ago
Fun!
PHRONESISvsAKRASIA 3 years ago
YESSSSSSSS see, that's great thinking. I was also thinking about how people could socialize their leftovers without being another big holiday oriented meal... example: having a friend over for pie and tea, or using that turkey to make a warm soup to share over a movie, taking the stuffing an stuffing portabellos or squashes, using that cranberry for an avocado, cranberry and cream cheese sandwich... shit can you tell i am not letting my orthorexia interact here!?

'No more expectations' - that's my dream world...
Thank you for your words of gold, my love x x x
EdieAlyss 3 years ago
Hi My Love, listen - let me carry on that train of logic if you don't mind? Smile. We both know starvation = binge. It's going to happen either way, the restriction or the binge. So resorting to starvation to prevent bingeing is not going to work. Lessons learned for many. Balance is best. Think about what you can do right now to make sure you are getting some nutrition to keep you logical. The brain needs it's fuel, anything is better than nothing. What is safe for you right now? food wise?
MyOwnStickFigure 3 years ago

(Love your pink top, by the way! :D )

Kids are so cute as to how they react to things. I hope they don't ever scare him, sometimes silliness does scare kids omg that's never good.
