  • cool vid man... we tried it.. and it works but the recording sounds real muddy/ not clear at all.. is it becuz the mic is built in the laptop?? and the mic picks up everything else aswhile.. it could cough it would record that too lol.. help me out bro!!

  • @orginalbunglist can you load .mp3s into nn-xt?

  • @BaseMonstersExist no, if mp3 is the only option then convert it to wav, but best is to record in wav in first place, or buy wav version of the tune etc.

  • i tried to load an 808 kick but it sounded like a rain drops, i messed with the root but that didnt help much

  • @eastjeff was the "zone" highlighted? thats the block that you can stretch under the horizontal keyboard....

  • @originalbunglist yes it was highlighted i shorten it to just one key, and tries to adjust the root but it was the same , i can send it to the kong drum, but i like the attack better on the nnxt the kong attack doesnt seem to do anything

  • its definately pitch or root issue, try starting again and initialise patch, it will play the exact sound you put in

  • You made the beat at 5:10 ? If you did , do you have a video of that?

    It's sick!

Thnx 4 the tutorial btw :D

  • @tomaat19 yeah i did, lost loads of stuff, but i have some of this track left, may show how the beat was beefed up sometime. thanks.

  • @flowersallthetime try audacirty

  • @originalbunglist So the samples record just fine, but when I play them back in the NNXT, there's a loud buzzing that accompanies the sample. Any advice?

  • @octopusmanly when you play the recorded wav on goldwave, does it buzz then? if it only buzzes when yopu play it inside reason, possibly need to "initialize patch" when you open the nnxt, or it may be that you have layered one of you samples accross the whole keyboard, lemme know if that has helped

  • Why are people afraid to talk in their tutorials........its not very helpful if u have to keep clicking and reading to understand whats going on...

  • @DeejayStavros shit mic, harder for people to understand who dont speak english.

  • cool.. Nice video .. here i found one good site , FREEONLINECOUPON.INFO providing all types of free coupons and samples .. get it now and . win discount gift, free $500 get unlimited fun stuff

  • why is goldwave telling me it cant record while sound is playing aint that the whole bloody point of the program?

  • best video tut for NNXT

  • Poppa large big shout on the east coast

  • @originalbunglist Cheers mate

  • Is Audacity just as good for this? I read that Goldwave is only free for a limited amount of time then you have to buy it.

  • i can hear me clicking the mouse in during my sample is this normal? how do i stop it.

  • @sowhatsowhat10, in recording setup on ur soundcard try and pick the line you wanna record from, i.e line in/wav/mic..... sounds like u have it set to record "what you hear" which will record everything.... another way around the mouse click noise will be to go into control panel-sounds and disable windows sounds, I have mine switched off cos i dont see the need, they get annoying..

    safe

  • strait hot steamy ass

  • Bush fish :)

  • Great.. Very helpful! tanx

  • This doesnt work at all now it doesnt record off youtube like that anymore.

  • @kt7fasters the track @ 5:11 - its Big Fat One, on my channel ;)

  • @originalbunglist when i press record to says input microphone 50% however, i want to record from youtube how do i change the setting to capture this?

  • @Chazban u need ro change the recording preferences on your soundcard, thheres usually an option to record "what you hear" which is the best one to leave it on, or just pick "wav", "cd", "internet" etc depending on ur setup

    safe, thanks for watching

  • when i click the record button it says that it cannot start, is there anything you have to mess with the first time you use goldwave? like the properties or something?

  • should just record, have never seen this before, whats the exact message?

  • says, cannot start recording. Choose the help button for more info..

    :(

  • sorry man, really dont have a clue what this could be, and help buttons are normally shit too.... possibly something to do with your soundcard record setting? Try using Audacity, thats free too i think, if it works then you know there is a conflict with goldwave

then just follow the video from after I shut goldwave...

  • i got audacity, and when trying to record with that it says " Error while opening sound device. Please check input device settings and the project sample rate."

    ? lol

  • if its doing this kinda thing in both programs then its got to be a soundcard / driver issue, have u ever recorded anything using this soundcard b4? u happen to know what soundcard it is? one that came with ur setup or installed your own? is it a pc?(as in not mac), try looking for device settings / recording preferences etc on you pc in control panel etc, usually under "sound" maybe a soundcard needs selecting in the record bit, let us no how u get on, its good for others who get stuck. Safe

  • i have an HP, microsoft windows vista home premium, and under sound device it says Realtek High definition audio... ye

  • also if u can find the recording settings, these should work......... 16 bit, 44.100 khz

  • are there any cables needed to be plugged into my computers inputs

  • vista/realtek are fine, you dont need any cables unless you are recoring from out side ur pc, i.e. from decks or a mic etc. try going into Start/allprograms/Accessories/sound recorder, its windows own shitty record device, see if you get an error there, it looks like ur soundcard is not configured to record to me, is soundcard external? also mite sound silly but are you getting anu sound even on playback from a cd or the internet etc?

  • when i go to sound recorder, it says "an audio recording device cannot be found." and after that, under the recording section it says my speakers are working, but there is no microphone or line in.

  • do you have sound tho? it sounds like your soundcard is not set up correctly, hard to say exactky how to set this up as they are all different

  • make a beat wit tat bush sample!

    its gona be a HIT

  • do you have da ke so i can get it for free reply please

  • goldwave is free, cant help u with reason sorry

  • nice one guy, blagged for a while before this upload, peace

  • very helpful man thank u

  • damn dude you really helped me out on this thanks

  • Very nice

  • thx man thats perfect

    peace

  • what do you click to jsut hear the sample once its in nn xt?

  • Hold "Alt" and click the mouse. click on name of sample for the original sound, or click where it is on blue screen keyboard if u have changed the effects on it.

  • Yeah, what bit rate do the WAV files need to be in order for them to work on REASON?? It's telling me that my WAV file samples are "Unsupported Format."

Has anyone else run into this problem?

  • just checked, most of mine were saved as 44.100hz 16bit mono/strereo,u can probly use 24 bit tho. u using goldwave or another wav program?

  • I'm using Sonar 8 PRO. I got it. I'm pretty sure you can only upload 16-bit WAV files. I was trying to use my 32-bit, but it didnt work.

  • How did you set your GOLDWAVE up to record straight from your computer?

  • sounds like u need to go to go to ur soundcard recoring preference, dpends on what soundcard you have, need to find something aklong likes of preferences/recording/, some have a"record what you hear" button, others u pick wav/cd/mic/line in etc, I have my always sett to "what u hear2 then i dont have to ever change it.. let me know how u get on, loads of ppl ask the same thing and everytime its different.

  • I figured it out. I had to completely disable by interface and enable the Realtek stock output. Then (with the internal Realtek mixer thing set up for input/recording) it all worked out).

  • WOW, I might as well just throw away my MPC 1000 now. I had no idea I could sample with REASON 4.. Hell yeah fool. Yer the shit..

  • Yeha what more could a producer need!

  • thanks helped alot man

  • after i saved it and i put it into nnxt it doesnt play on my keyboard.any answers?

  • probably press "tab" on the rack window and rewire? test the samples first though but click them wiv mouse while holding "Alt", if u dont have a sound there, then something has been left out from the vid.

  • i love you!!!! i have a question tho... how can i devide a sample in multible keys? you know like if i have a sample that goes i can do what i want and i want one key to say: i another: can another do .... etc so i can play i can.. do what i want i can... do what do what you know... thnx bro
  • soz long delay!!...... either chop it wiv whatver wav program ur using first (goldwav is used in vid but theres loads out there, think one is mentioned below somewhere, soundforge is goofd but not free) then load all the choped bits into nn-xt, then right click, then "automap zones chromatically".. 2nd way is to load the whole sample up as many times as you need, then turn loop start/Loop end, but that way is bollox if u ask me,, just do the first one!

  • thnx 4 your help m8

  • how do you get the NNXT program

  • its built into reason made by propellorheads.

  • That last song with kool keith was nice!

  • safe man, its called "big fat one"

  • 0:53 How do you get the bass to do that? thats fucken badass

  • its 2 malstreoms running thru a combinator, one is pure sub, the other has somne tweaks to it using frequency and square etc, the wobble is done by re-directing the 2 oscillators to the combinator, pronbably a bit confusing to explain all in here but theres probly vids around youtube to help.

  • fosho thanks

  • Are you recording from soundcard or mic?

  • Recrding from soundcard but I'm guessing ur asking someone who has put a comment on here.

  • hey thanx alot for this...but i recorded the sample and everything and the sound wasnt quite the same as the original, it sounds a little weak as compared to the original which sound more full....what sould i do???

  • maybe check the record volumes on you soundcard settings, also look for record quality, sometimes the default is rubbish.

edit sound in goldwave use "maximise volume"/

  • I was you can do it in NNXT but it changes me the speed, I don't want the speed changed, only the pitch: is thaht possible? thanks

  • no, if you want to change pitch but not the tempo (speed) you will need to use something with "time compress + expand" tool, like soundforge. what sound are you trying to use? is it a bass/piano/synth etc or is it vocals?

  • thank you, I tried to use a 2 secs composition of piano played by me... so, if it's not possible to keep the tempo constant, evidently nobody use this technique... mmmh... tbtw hanks you very much for the hot tips!

  • have you tried just recording one long key, then just re-compose the 2 second bit u done using the sequencer in reason

  • eh, I don't know how to do that, I mean use the sequencer

  • the screen thats not 2the rack" the bit with the keys running down the left and a graph type thing, you can just sample on key (as long as possible) from your piano then draw it on the graph thing. there are loads of decent built in piano samples so u could just use them?

  • I'm new to Reason... is possible to import a wav file and use as a note of the keyboard with different pitches depending on the key you press?

  • Yes u can import a sound and use it at different pitches, just dont shrink the zone when you import it, you may just want to shrink it to 2 octaves worth of keys as you probably wont need the very high+ v low keys, then you can put a couple of sounds on 1 keyboard.

  • HI this was a very helpful video. Thanks so much for posting. I may need some help. I did all as you said. (I actually used Free Wave Editor instead of GoldWave to make my wave file). I initialized in NNXT and I expanded, loaded, and shrank to one key. NNXT does show my sample in the sone and it has the title of my sample, BUT when I click on it (as you did) it does not play back. The sample I loaded was large, like 35MB, could this be the problem? Or is there something you can help me with? THX

  • if u click on it in nnxt blue screen you have to hold alt and click mouse at same time for it to play. if your clicking on the sequencer page + still no sound then i'm guessin it must be file size, not to sure why u would have a file quite so big?,if ur using a full acappela, chop it into bars (like 8 or 16 beats at a time), or it will take u forever to edit each section of the tune..... reason will only play the sample from the start so you'd have to listen t the whole rack just to edit middle

  • I think you have got confused with their message, they just want you to buy the full version, this is a fully functioning demo, 150 clicks per session

  • + if u dont like goldwave, just use audacity or any of the other free wav editing software. the point of this video is to show how to use samples in reason, not how to get the free software.

  • hey Originalbunglist...

You seem to use vocal samples quite a bit...i'm trying to figure out a way (or program) that can speed up samples without changing their pitch. I know a couple programs but can't yet find one that:

    a) can export as .mp3 or .wav WHILE ALSO BEING

    b) free... haha

anyways, any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • whats the name of the song at the end?

  • Big Phat One, by me, its on my channel on right>>>>

  • mmm nice i have found it. Thanks for the reply bra. Lol will smith dancin on the beat.. he was cool back then. :)

  • is it b/c it's 5MB's why I'm having this prob.?

  • cant rememebr what the default save as format is but make sure you pic "wave", it might save as mp3 the 1st time you use it, let me know if it does and I'll put a note on the video. I think 5mb should be fine to use in goldwave but I dont think i have used that much in nn-xt b4 as even when i use a whole acappella I chop it into at least a few sections sections, and somtimes word by word depeding on the vocal

  • just noticed on the goldwave site at the bottom of 1 page it says this-----

"Files are limited to 4GB on FAT32 partitions. Use NTFS with Windows XP/2000 to create larger files"

dunno what the feck their on about but that might help.

  • I did all the steps, but mine says unsupported format in the nn-xt, can you help me?

  • This Program Is Da Shyt Man

  • hi man this video is so helpful thank you so much! I was wondering, how did you got the youtube audio for the bush video to get into goldwave???

  • if you have followed the video and goldwave has recorded no sound u probably need to go to your soundcard settings and select where it records from, best to have it set to "what you hear" if you have that option, depends on ur soundcard. if its an external soundcard then i think you have to hardwire it back through somehow, if its built in there should be an option for recording somewhere.

  • this is excellent help..very thorough..

  • Comment removed

  • how do you get the sample to go into the actual timeline

  • not too sure what u mean by timeline?

  • i figured out how to do it with recycler, i think i meant the sequencer, the part at the bottom of the window where it displays the sequence

  • sequencer he means

  • did u make thta tune at the end?

  • yes its Big Phat 3, if u go to myspace/BobbyBrockout its there, or the youtube quality version is called "Brockout Brockwild and skank all over the gaff"

  • can i use Audacity too?

  • yes, audacity will do the same job, u can use any wave editing software, nn-xt will still take the files you save

  • yea the shit works but the quality sounds terrible i guess cuz its set on mic but i cant change it to nothing else how do i make sounds better

  • u mean u are recording from a mic?also is it a standard headphone in jack from the mic or is it a proper mic?, aint done much stuff lately wiv mic samples but used to plug into line in instead of mic ,on the back of the pc, it might just be that the record levels are too high on goldwave or the mic is too sensitive and its picking up loads of background noise, u can usually change the sensitivity but u'll have to google that. goldwave will record a sound exaclly how it hears it hope dat helps!!

  • its the mic from my laptop ...dont no where the hell it is but ill try changing the levels but i tried it with headphones and it picked up nothing then i tried it without and it sounded nowhere near as clear as ya shit.....thanx tho ill keep fuckin wit and see wat happens

  • if its mic ffrom laptop that probably is only made for web chat sort of quality so i doubt u'll get a decent recording from it at all, the stuff on the video is recorded from the pc to pc not from external source (mic/decks etc). goldwave can record from external sources but you need to have a line in on back of pc/laptop, i used to use headphones as a mic on my old pc and was fine but again that was plugd into line in and fiddle round with volumes after recording

  • Sorry is this software free to download and viris free as well

    ???

  • I've used the version from above 4 over a yr + haven't noticed any virus problems, Ive used goldwave since the 90's so there are obviously loads of others out there that are probably better but I can't comment on those, if your worried, have a look at some music magazine sites and see if they recommend any other wave software. Yes Goldwave is completely free, they have a use limit per session but i just save and open up the file again, I also use soundforge which is better but its about £30

  • audacity is free, cut paste, save and is easy to use. if your interested

  • aye this helps a lot bruh, one question though...Is It possible to set one tempo accross the whole keyboard when you load your sample on NNXT??

  • do you mean pitch? the only way i can think is to keep loading or copy/paste the sample so that the "root key" moves with each sample, (the root key nob is on bottom right of led screen, it slects which key is the original pitch/tempo) you can try right click and i think its called set notes chronomatically or something like that - is it to make a drum kit or for a synth/bass? not really to sure what u need to do this for, i might be able to help better if u could explain a bit more.....

    peace

  • People like you make the world a better place.

  • is cool edit pro just as good?

  • I've heard of it, but never used it, probably is fine, any wave editor is fine to use as long as you can record, cut/trim and mabye fade out/in, if its a demo or free version make sure u can save on it or u'll be screwed, once u have chopped the sample u want and saved it everyhting else on the vid with reason nnxt is the same.

    peace

  • it says my evaluation period with goldwave has expired and that now i have 2 buy it WTF though it was free HELP

  • try closing that box it may just open anywway, it used to be 150 clicks per session but unlimited sessions but just had another look and it may have changed, all i can suggest is re-installing or look for another free / shareware wave program, there are hundreds but goldwave and soundforge are the only 2 programs I ever use for wave, most are similar to use and all u need is the record, play, cut and maybe fade out functions (and save!!!), the rest is all done in reason nnxt

  • This video is AWESOME!!! I been tryin to learn how to sample in reason since I got it!!! I got so many artists that are gonna freak out now that I can do this!!! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!! I will be in contact if I have any trouble. Once again...THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!

  • thats ok, safe for watchin, It took me f+ckin ages too ;) , I saw some bored man doin loops on the road. funny shit

  • Safe was this cuz i asked ya yday?

  • Yeah sort of, a few people have asked and also it took me ages to work out so I thought I'd post a little help up ;)

  • This is working a treat so far.. although i havent tried to get my sound into reason yet, just had a question n thought id say thanx in advance incase i forgot, how do you load several chops of 1 piece of audio? like a speech n u want to parts for example ??

  • u gotta chop it into the pieces you want in goldwave first, u dont have to use goldwave, its just 1 of the wave editors ive used and knew it was free, i usually use soundforge but u have to buy that (normally;). u can also save tunes you made etc through goldwave into mp3. to chop it just save the main whole voice sample, then move them bars above and either cut or clip, remember to "fade out" on the very end though or sometimes you end up with a shitty clickin noise at the end ;)
