This guy makes Dion look like a strong leader. The coalation was an embarassment to Canadian's and his lack newfound patriotism after snubbing Canada for years is dubious. The US republicans would have loved to be a part of budget planning, Ignatieff turns his back on the process; "not my problem!"
Ignatieff is against the Iraq war. He has said so many times, such as in a 2007 NY Times article. But desperate neocons keep repeating the same lies.
Harper shares the same ideology as Bush. The fundie religion, pro-war ranting, trashing the economy, dividing the country, the whole scummy bag of toxic garbage.
Ignatieff is more like Trudeau, Pres. Kennedy or Obama in ideology, and he's an expert on human rights. Iggy in Bush's party??? He's Canadian, idiot! Puntsok4 you need an education.
NO he actually was for the Iraq war & is now back tracking..he also wants to raise the gst if he ever come into power..fiberals famous for raising taxes & stealing it..yeah vote for them if you like being robbed
Jenchen Dion had no choice but to bow down. his party was going to force him out. So i wouldn't call that a graceful exit by any means..This is the same man the FIBS were supporting as their soon to be PM just a couple of weeks ago..loyalty & honesty really are not the FIBS forte
Ignatieff is an intelligent, decent and thoughtful politician. Hope he becomes PM.
And for the record Iggy is against torture and the Iraq war. It's Harper who is the neocon Bush buddy! Harper said he was "ashamed of his country" for not sending Canadian troops to kill and die in Iraq. Right in parliament, Harper had a total tantrum about how he wanted to send Canadians to war in Iraq. Harper doesn't represent the majority of Canadians.
I remember the tantrum well. It's was the first time I had a bad feeling about Harper. Even when I have disagreed with Ignatieff his reasons are sound, and he knows when to admit to a mistake.
Your intelligent thoughtful second coming called Iggy supported Bush & the war in Iraq, he shares alot of the same ideology as Bush & I believe he was in Bushes party at one time..now the Fibs have their own Bush as their leader..PE Trudeau would be rolling over in his grave
oh no, the CONS are coming out of the woodwork! it seems their pc's are running virus free finally, unfortunately their brains aren't working as well!!

wasn't he in George Bushes party at one time?? lol now we truly have the canadian version of BUSH!.. fiberals must really be desperate..elect a leader who is more american then canadian..way to go!
another fiberal not accepting responsiblity for this mess they have created with the coalition crap..more BS..he was more then willing to have Dion as PM a week ago & now he's ready to take it away so fast..loyalty seems to be a foreign concept to the fiberals..
Dion had the good grace to step down when Harper didn't. That three men stepped aside to let the deputy leader take the reins at least for this transition period they showed great loyalty and intelligence. The coalition had ethical, constitutional and legal grounds, and I thank them for preserving democracy from becoming a one party system and looking out for women's rights, while people who don't understand how the parliamentary system works cry "treason".
At this point in time the only thing I care about is which of the two -Ignatief or Rae-would do better against Harper in an election. Considering Rae's record as Premier of Ontario I'd have to say Ignatief. If Rae is chosen the Tories will flood the airwaves with ads attacking Rae for putting Ontario deep in debt in the 80's. And then there's the fact that many Ontario voters do not remember Rae's days as Premier with any fondness. So although I like Rae I think Ignatief is the best choice.
Ignatieff is very much the politician. I can't believe I'm asking this but is he too smart, or is this a very, very good thing? Is his heart good? He has had controversial points of view (eg. Iraq) but seems to come up with sound answers even in those cases I have disagreed with him. It's a pity Bob Rae carries baggage, because it is easy to trust him.
If only Danny Williams or Layton could be prime minister. Any of these four men have more integrity than Harper. Dion also has my respect.
Both Dion and Layton are totally inept! I watched Jack Layton on Peter Mansbridge's "1 on 1" last night. Peter asked Layton why he didn't wait to actually see what the budget was before moving against the PM, and then asked Layton if when parliament convened again in the new year, would he then wait to see what the budget was before opposing Harper on the economy. Layton said he doesn't really care what the budget is, he "doesn't trust Harper". Peter said,"isnt this about the economy, not trust?"
And Jenchens, if you think Layton or Dion would make a good PM, then you either don't know what you are talking about or you are deluded. Neither Dion nor Layton care about the economy, which is clear since they don't even care what the budget says, and won't wait to see it. They merely were mad that Harper was going to cut public funding to the parties. Ignatieff is the only one I have confidence in, he seems like the only mature and rational one among any of the opposition leaders.
I also appreciate that Ignatieff won the governor generals award for non fiction. I think Harper may have won it for fiction (sorry i couldn't resist.) Not only did Harper break promises in his last budget he has deliberately attempted to misled Canadians. Public campaign funding is vital to a healthy democracy. "If you don't control money in the system, money will control the system." I thank the coalition for preserving democracy from becoming a one party system, and protecting women's rights.
I agree that what Harper proposed would have possibly killed democracy by eliminating the opposition parties, and that the coalition was the only thing to combat this, but if it was Dion, Layton, and Duceppe leading it, thats a scary thought. Ignatieff is the only one who could lead competently.Iggy said he's going to discuss the budget with harper first, but(as you just correctly pointed out)Iggy thinks that the numbers he sees might be fake. Basically,if Iggy sees bad stuff,he's going coalition.
teejay, you don't think what we need is an intelligent and rational opposition leader? When you listen to the opposition leaders speak, actually listen to what they are saying, not just the tones of their voice...I know Dion is usually screaming, but what he says does not often make sense. He isn't savvy, he is an extremely poor speaker, and he goes back on his word. I don't know whether Ignatieff is totally honest either, but he is definitely savvy and well-spoken.
Lets give Jack & Elizabeth May at the very least, more
seats. Ottawa needs an ENEMA ! People need to start
getting off their fat asses & pay less attention to media &
more on what the politicians are actually doing with our
money. Educate yourself on truth about energy, why cars
only get 30 miles/gallon after so many decades !. The
truth about drugs & healthcare system. Look up "THE
BECK PROTOCOL", the "PAAP engine" and CHEMTRAILS !
wake up everyone !
