Yes people have choices to make. They don't have to make the wrong ones. If you know a cream cake is bad for you and a piece of lettuce is good, which would you choose? Thought so. The cream cake is more enticing but that does not mean it is good! In fact it is very bad. In the same way, the way to destruction is enticing (choosing to do things like smoking, drinking etc) and the way to salvation is not doing those things ..
I believe that you aren't alone on that subject, I never struggled as a teen or early adulthood because I came to terms with who I was, and made peace with myself.
