I am looking at a Les Baer, I can't wait to get a hold of one, I want a well made 1911. Just have to decide which one. And you know a gun is good when the person talking about it is full of "wow's" and having trouble finding the right words to describe it, while at the same time not being able to stop talking about it.
The tension on the slide loosens up after about 300 rounds. I've had mine about a month and a half. After 1000 rounds I haven't had a single malfunction. Best 1911 I've ever fired.
This is a damn good 1911. It did take me over 2000 rounds before it was properly broken in. Been through ThunderRanch Defensive Handgun courses with it and it rocked the courses. Everything you need and nothing you don't - type of gun. One criticism of the gun is that the blued finish wears easier than most, but that's something simple to fix (reblue it, hard chrome it or coat it in your coating of choice.) There are better semi-custom 1911's out there, but none at this price!
I have one but I would not say its the most perfect. I admit I have not shot mine much at all. I've owned it for almost 6yrs now and the darn thing is still tough to rack!!!! The 1911 of choice for me is Nighthawk T3 which is basically my go-to. I find the T3 way better than the TRS. I use to have an Ed Brown Special forces but traded it for the Nighthawk. That was a cool 1911 but I needed one more compact and almost got the Kobra but the T3 won for me.
Alan Bruin I used to own this pistol. It is the most amazing pistol ive ever fired. I wish Id never sold it. If you want the finest 1911 in the world, go with Les Baer. You wont regret it.Les Baer guarantees 3 in. groups at 50 yards out of the box.
I agree it's not 'beautiful' but you can rent one at the range I shoot at. I've rented it three times, it's the best 1911 I've ever shot. I'm thinking of getting the
I've got a TR Special and a Springfield operator. The Springfield shoots great but it doesn't have the fit and finish like the Les Baer it's a work of art. Simplistic and bullet proof. I put a set of thunder ranch allumagrips on it . They look nice and feel good when shoot . They're not as slick as the grips that it came with. I share your enthusiasm.
This gun seems over priced until you own one. Everybody tells me how great their brand of choice is until they take a close look at one of these. It is a fairly basic fighting 1911 without a lot of frills, just good quality workmanship that will give you years of use. You can find them used for $13-1500 and new I have seen them for $1800.
I am thinking about getting a Baer... an Ultimate Tactical Carry or Custom Carry. I can't decide! Sweet pistol broseph...

It's quite the lovely 1911, but I worry about the finish. My hands will strip even factory bluing clean off in a matter of weeks.

It will shoot way better then a pile of Springfield Armory trash.

@tripmatt1 yeah and Kimber trash, and Colt trash, you would expect it to for the difference in price.
PigHunter375 2 years ago
I do own a Kimber Desert Warrior and it shoots very accurate. I do want to move up to one like this in the video or a Wilson Combat.
