man i love crows. you know i saw one on one side of a street and when the red light came on, the crow walked across! i'm assuming its wing was injured or something, but nonetheless it was amazing!
Ok, so..... on the FIRST attempt this Crow was able to understand the situation? Did the crow immediately understand the problem to solve? Or was she shown or at least practice prior to solving the problem?
@bloopnation I doubt it figured it out on the first attempt but that doesn't change that it's a very intelligent bird. Even humans struggle to do something perfectly on the first try.
@TehAnkh The description says no, I have watched similar experiments with these birds, and the same outcome. I have even watched videos of these crows with cameras on there backs, they will find a tool they like and carry it around with them! These birds are extraordinary.
WOW maybe we should replace the creatures in the white house ,congress and senate, with crows, They seem to learn fast on how to do things right. and didn't make a mess of things in the process ???
@tenedria well technically the IQ score corresponds to what percentile of the population you belong to intelligence wise. the average will usually be 100 as that is where the majority of the people are. most tests are based on the country they are taken in so a 140 in america might not be equivalent to a 140 score in japan or sweden as each has a different level of average IQ.
I always amazed at how complecated the process of building the next and how perfect these birds build their nest. One thing for sure, these birds doesn't go causing havoc for the shake of propelling themselves ludicurously powerful like the world power wannabes who certainly disturb the ecosystem.

Smartest animals.
1. Mice
2. Dolphins
3. Humans
4. Crows
Though it's a pretty close race between humans and crows.

Using tools is one the first steps we took when we learned to plan a task millions of years ago.
I think we often underestimate the intelligence of the creatures around us.

cr9527 5 months ago
If crows can solve sequential, abstract problems such as this one, then they must have a measurable IQ.
Thus, the next question is what is the average IQ of crows?
furikuri52 1 year ago 2
@furikuri52 Since IQ is a bell curve, the average IQ of anything within its own species is 100 +/- 10. Unless, you mean, compared to a human.
maniacx86 1 year ago
@maniacx86
the maximum isn't 200, or something like it? I mean, cause some people are said to have an IQ of 140 and 100 is said to be the average score.
