@rrch88 if we're getting technical the sun doesn't burn at all because burning implies oxidation. I guess we can assume that the line isn't intended to be super technically accurate.

John is my favourite musician of all time, period, but this is a weak Mountain Goats performance, imo.
He sounds sick, like he is getting over a cold.

The lyric "hotter than the sun" might be cooler if it were "harder than the sun".

The lyric would have the same meaning. "Harder" is just a more expression-ate word, imho.

@rrch88 mmhm, whenever my group does this bit we use "harder"and the crowd seems to react to it. I mean, sure- if you're burning hotter than the sun, you're pretty hot. But if you're burning harder than the sun, well..

@rrch88 Harder in this sense would mean with great intensity. Hotter would mean with greater heat. I think harder would have a stronger effect.
