I just got home from the cayuco ocean to ocean race through the panama canal.

We had 13 of us in the SLAVE GALLEY!!!!!

We had no experience, but had a blast!

My Explorer post did this race in 1960. I was part of the

slave galley crew (the largest cayuco) and we were considered as losers becasue we couldn't compete physically with the guys who crewed the smaller 2-3 man cayucos. Gatun Lake

was a long row on the second day.
