The car is NOT moved by the airflow through the engine as is the case with an airplane. M1 Abrams tanks use jet engines and have a transmission behind the compressor. Now that is a cool motor. The compressor is about the size of decent watermelon, and it produces 1500 horsepower...

Whats sort of speed is atainable with your hydrostatic drive?what appears to be the oil cooler at the front seems rather small.Nice setup though,a quick brush up in the interior and a few bits of trim and she's done! Had you considered or seen a turbine electric car? There are quite a few APU units around that kick out more than enough for an Ecar,for surprisingly little money.
