"What is it...I'll take it...You say she is a virgin...I'll be the first in.....her old man will kill me..oh, f^*$%^ will he...dr. Jimmy, mr. jim"...is it me for a moment..the stars are falling...the heat is rising..the past is calling...getting high, can't beat it..."
when I was in H.S 73-77 I drove my parents nuts. i played this song and other who songs on my pioneer 100 watts R,M.S almost every weekend . and drunk and stoned of course!!
@3799rookie Huh? What are you talking about? I was commenting on the funky and cheesy advertisement that is superimposed on the photo of the very classic album cover on this video. Ging.
anyway who am I to say, but there were plenty of females around Brighton at the time who'd go for that type, no use of force required. The bars and clubs would be heaving with them.
This is one of the great rock songs ever. Would Pete write something that didn't have some real meaning? I think not ! Spend a little time with this album and you'll appreciate some great lyrics and music. Check out all the Who's albums - they're all worth listening to often. Virtually all rock critics rate them at right at the top of all time groups, just as they should. The Who really rocked. They were often called "the thinking man's rock group."
This song is a mirror of the ego. Listen to Jimmy's bravado. It is a mask of toughness. A mask most of us wear to cover our fear. This entire album is an incredible journey through the human ego-identified condition. One can learn much from it combined with honest self-reflection. Find yourself in Jimmy's dilemma. See through his eyes. They are your eyes. Blessings.
I love THE WHO my favorite band off all time

I'm pretty sure that ad was on the original album cover, complete with the web address. Must've been Keith's idea.....

Quite brilliant, god that really brought it back. Every note of it.
Greatest ever lyrical/rock/orchestral fusion?
Only misgiving - use of the word rape.
Jimmy was a hard case and a rebel against every convention but surely not given to rape.

But, he does drink gin, so maybe not?

And enjoy the journey. A soundtrack to life. And remember the inner trip at the end! The key moment in the Quadrophenia story.
