This should have been priced as Mirage 2000...but was priced almost as $20 million too expensive.  Rather get F-18E or F-16 Blk 60+, still be managed to match against any Su-30 or Rafael.

Eurofighter and Rafale were born form the same project but not for the same needs.

Eurofighter was only designed for air to air superiority whereas Rafale as to be multi purpose missions (true fighter and bomber in the same time).

Look carefully both planes and you will see the differences...

as Air to Air fighter ( air superiority ) i would say Raptor is better for me( in high range for sure)

in dogfight ( with no raptor better stealth advantage) they are near the same if we are mainly base on test exercises between them some months ago. ( on 6 dogfights, 5 draw and one kill for f22 )

as Air to Ground fighter Rafale is better with no doubt.

but Rafale is fully multirôle ( also call "Omnirôle" ) and Raptor is more a Air to Air fighter only.

Quite good jet. But I feel a little aversion to french fighters. Just not pretty sure about their combat value. The only jet which actually proved to be very efficient on the battlefield was Mirage III. Israelis used them during Six Day War. And to be honest we know nothing about combat effectivness of Mirage 2000. Not even to mention Rafale. Of course, it looks great and it has some impressive performance, but it has zero combat value. As for vid? 5/5!

@Duchovicius, I would say the aircraft is poor as a fighter. During Red Flag, 2008 the French were too busy electronically spying on their "allied" Indians around to bother with the actual mission. During Desert Storm, a complaint was the French were too busy electronically spying on the U.S. radar systems do be much help (that was before this aircraft came out). If the French are still trying to figure out targeting radar, I believe that is a major weakness to this craft.
