The most glaring of the multiple substantive errors is the assertion that a DREAM Act beneficiary (i.e. illegal alien) needs to graduate from college. That's flat-out wrong. That has never been a provision of any version of the DREAM Act been submitted to Congress. A person can satisfy the "educational requirements" w/o ever stepping foot on a community college campus, much less a 4 yr college. He or she doesn't need to get close to graduating.
Why not charge those children, for an example $10.000 fee in order to obtain those benefits. and must exclude financial aid., so it will reduce the amount of people who will apply for such things as dream act (if passed).+ the government can make huge amount of money. imagine if more than 1 million students pay $ 10.000 for the government to give them a chance, govt could raise enough money to build that fence that candidates are talking about around the border.

In order for any person (legal or illegal) to receive financial help they have to prove that they pay taxes. Illegals CAN pay taxes w/o a SSN and the ones that are in college do! The sole reason my grandfather became an american citizen was by joining the military and then serving in Korea and Vietnam. It breaks my heart to see some of these comments. They should pay a fine for living here illegally, and should not be able to sponsor their family until after 5 years of being a USC (they need some sort of punishment and this decreases the number of people who would benefit indirectly from the act). That's like 16 years till they can sponsor their family. Also, the minute they commit a criminal act fine them or terminate case and deport them. In the 6 years of "conditional residency" they should be paying taxes as well. fits!
Dream Act it says; a "Dreamer" must attend college for atleast 2 years, or join the military, then they will be granted "conditional residency" then after 6 years can the apply for LPR, after 5 years they can then apply to be a USC. I do believe there should be changes to the document. "Dreamers" should prove they have attended and graduated from a US college/ university, Or have served the country for at least 2 years.

The most glaring of the multiple substantive errors is the assertion that a DREAM Act beneficiary (i.e. illegal alien) needs to graduate from college. That's flat-out wrong. That has never been a provision of any version of the DREAM Act been submitted to Congress. They should pay a fine for living here illegally, and should not be able to sponsor their family until after 5 years of being a USC (they need some sort of punishment and this decreases the number of people who would benefit indirectly from the act). Dream Act it says; a "Dreamer" must attend college for atleast 2 years, or join the military, then they will be granted "conditional residency" then after 6 years can the apply for LPR, after 5 years they can then apply to be a USC. I do believe there should be changes to the document. "Dreamers" should prove they have attended and graduated from a US college/ university, Or have served the country for at least 2 years.

@aguichris Hey, maybe you haven't heard yet, but the government has now taken charge of all student loans here in America. I don't care who it is, even if they are a citizen, they don't deserve my tax money so that they can go to college and get a better job for themselves. It's their life and they need to provide for themselves.

And as for everyone saying that we can't just deport them, well then fine, don't deport them. Just stop treating them like citizens, stop giving them benefits, stop subsidizing them, and stop hiring them. Specifically, make it a federal offense to hire them. Do that, and then they will leave and we won't have to lift a finger about it.

This is a false argument. Those are two drastically different times. Back then, there was no USA, it was a continent. Milton Friedman said it best, "It's just obvious that you can't have free immigration and a welfare state."
If people want to come here, that's great-welcome, but there is a process.

This immigration debate is not leading anywhere. Congress did not do anything about it for years. Our nation needs some sort of solution on immigration, so we can move forward. Therefore, Obama should be given power to enforce his solution when nothing will be done for decades to come. Obama should invite immigration experts from UN especially those from Latin countries, and they together should draft a law that would solve immigration status of future Americans whoa are already here.
