  • The mystery continues. Perhaps no one will remain at the end to share the conclusion, but somehow I trust that some of us are determined to survive until that moment...

Oh Thomas how much we hope!

  • January 22, 2009

hi donnallah, hope is always present and that is a good thing.

Survival will be with us as long as we strive to struggle and work to achieve all that is meant for us to do in life.

    always T

  • I think I hae to go back before I understand...any suggestion as a good place to start

Furnifur. These films are based on the premise that I have won the Nobel Prize in Literature from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, four years in a row. I suggest that you start with "29 Pickup," and then work your way forward. There are other films that I will post in a few days. The only ONE with music is "Courting for Polito." Just start with the one I suggested and then come forward and read the comments and you should be right up to snuff, rather quickly, but take your time. No rush.

  • reading comments is my favorite part...I love watching my friends and strangers talking! OK I will start there, thank you for understanding with all of my typos

  • What aspects of Fellini's "Amarcord," did this film suggest to you? I saw some of his earlier classics when I attended film school at UCLA with Charles Burnett. Burnett has had somewhat of a checkered career with the paying audience. He needs more money to publicize and advertise his style of filmmaking. My style is completely different from Burnett's. I am AYE STALKEEN. That explains quite a lot. Or, does it?

    "cat"

  • Whoa that was a pretty crazed-out-looking scared person in the intro haha! :)

  • Yo Tiana. I think that the Director should throw him back to the jungle or the zoo where he came from. There are going to be jungle sounds of monkeys, apes, and things like that over his stuff. The girl is listening to messages from the sky. I will have to use another lady's voice for that. Are you interested?

    "cat"

  • Yo Tiana! That is what is known as **acting** Have you not read the earlier comments? Dudeanwalker thinks that this film reminds him of a Federico Fellini film. Fellini is a Master of Cinema. I am in rare company. I accept the comparison. I am honored and quite humble. I wear 7 - 9 hats when I make these films, acting is but one hat. I have many others.

    "cat"

  • I do not know where that crazed-out-looking scared person in the intro came from. What makes you think that he is scared? I think that he sees something that strikes his fancy. He is in AWE of something that we do not see. Perhaps it is the Lady in Black? Perhaps it is some animal in the zoo, or the jungle of his mind. How did you like the back turn?

    "cat"

  • AYE STALKEEN & The Lady in Black occupy the same place, spatially, share some of the same dreams, hopes and aspirations. At some point, AYE STALKEEN takes over her personna, becomes her in a real sense. The Flower Girl, the Lady in Pink, observes, wishes to be a part of this but remains aloof until she decides to take a plunge, literally & joins them. She goes crazy & jumps into the Grecian Pool. AYE pulls her out after she tries to pull him into the pool with her.

  • this i like !

  • Thank goodness, Klakkin. You are one tough nut to crack. Thanks for following through and continuing to view. You might see everything from first to last, although I have 24 hours of edited footage or so. See "29 Pickup," and then come forward to this, for instance. Read comments & responses for a fuller picture.

    "cat"

  • Hey Klakkin,

Good to hear your voice. Can you be more specific about that which you like? Did you like it as a whole, or were there particular parts or moments that you liked? If so, what were they? Thanks for taking the time for further review of my film. I think that you are quite talented and I have visited your site, seen many of your videos and commented at length.

    "cat"

  • Hey Klakkin, You really make great films/videos. I subscribed to Casperjello today. I am with his group. Are you in it as well?

  • Klakkin, I finished viewing your film, "Wood." You might note my comments as well as those of the others who have viewed it recently. You are, indeed, one of the Elite Filmmakers in the Global Community, never mind the GYT network. You have made an award winning film.

    "cat"

  • Hey Dudeanwalker! First time that I heard your voice. Thanks for the comparison to Fellini. That really makes my day. I will do my best and may the devils take the rest. Did I just say that? Sounds like they may already be at play. I will let you see the finished version probably around Januar 1st, 2007. See you and thanks for commenting so favorably. I am flattered and honored, sir.

    "cat"

  • Most interesting indeed, glimpses into the world of the film are slowly slipped out and devoured by an audience with a baited breath!

Characters and stories develop, you Cat are truly a master of filmography!

  • Hey Timewarlord! I do my best with the stories and characters that I have. Now that I know who my audience is, I will post more of the films that I have made. I would like to add the original music, sound effects and narration tracks to all of them before I do so. In this way, you will get my full Director's vision. Right now you are seeing the "virgin" vision. I feel that you will be more than satisfied when you see all of my creative works. Everything is interconnected in my library.

  • I learned from 4 Academy Award winners in film editing, I must admit. Henry Berman - editor of the classic "Gunga Din," Ralph E. Winters, Blake Edwards' regular editor and Academy Award winner for "Ben Hur," Evan Lottman, Academy Award for "The Exorcist" by William Friedkin and lastly, but not least, Michael Kahn, Steven Spielberg's film editor. I turned Mike down when he begged me to work on "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

    "cat"

  • I am using the next 8 years to refine my craft. This is why I am on the GYT network, my friend Timewarlord. Your comments serve as a way to interactively see what works or does not. I would have liked to have had these discussions about the script prior to shooting. Now that we have something to show, it is beneficial to add your feelings about what you have seen and been affected by at this moment.

    "cat"

  • Interesting...I would tighten it up a bit though in the beginning. (editing wise)Then again, I'm not familiar with the Italian movies that you are "odeing" to. = )

  • MurrWes, that was an apt comment. I will do just that. You might want to see "Open City" by Bresson. One of my favorites of the period as well as "Bicycle Thief." These are the classics of the Italian Neo-Realistic cinema. Not much has been done in this style. It is inexpensive and daring. Affordable filmmaking rather than the megabucks of Hollywood.

    "cat"

  • Filmmaking on a shoestring budget with a strong, interesting central character, lightweight equipment, action takes place in an unforced manner. I will follow your suggestion about tightening the editing throughout. This is a rough assembly. My first asembly. Note that I left much in including Director's voice directions. Diferent. See the process not the finished result. Thanks, MurrWes.

    "cat"

  • Guerrilla filmmaking in that you pay for the cost of the film which is pennies. Borrow a camera. Use friends rather than trained actors. Use long takes. Do not waste film on multiple takes. First or 2nd take is all that you need. Make use of odds and ends. Beg, borrow or steal what you need. Essentially. Make the film regardless of the odds. Be creative is all that it takes. Now you know how to do it, my friends MurrWes.

    "cat"

  • I think that you're doing a great job, keep it up. The more that we can learn from each other, the better. I'm still working with paintbrush and computer effects = ) You're a zillion steps ahead of us. Keep it up and keep entertaining.

  • Au Contraire! You both are ahead of me, technologically speaking. I have been trying to wade through Final Cut Pro 4 for the past 2 years. I still cannot get past a few chapters. If I had my old editing moviola, I would have long ago finished everything including SFX, music and narration tracks. My niece knows how to use it. She will show me tomorrow.

  • Thank you very much, MurrWes. A subscriber named something "jello" invited me to join his group. One of the groups will discuss all of the films that I will post. Expect many in 2007 -2009. I have approx. 24 hours of edited footage. Same central character, Tomas Harper, the other actors & stories will change. I have always been in the vanguard. I usually hibernate for decades. I am awake now. ;-)

    "cat"

  • I joined Casperjello's group. I plan to further discuss many films on his platform as well as anything else that you would like to ask me about my own. This includes my time in the motion picture business, my thoughts, suggestions about film or anything else that you choose. I trust that it will be a full featured round table discussion.

    "cat"

  • Italian movies of the Italian Neo-Realistic cinema were noted for loosely edited, interesting stories. My central character, AYE STALKEEN, is designed to elicit a certain humor at times and sympathy and pathos at other times. He is a chameleon.

    "cat"

  • That was very interesting to watch Cat. The Hammock breaking at the end of the clip made me smile! lol.

  • [O] The hammock breaking really made me smile, too. I still have it. It was a very expensive gift from my Dad. He was not too happy when he saw that it had been damaged in one shot. I have to re-string it. It will be o.k.

Cat is a rather interesting guy, I think. He is suave, devilish, and somewhat tragic in spots. I think that we, as an audience, go with him even though he is anti-heroic in the accepted sense. Hey, all that is out of the window. He is a Hero and always has been.

    "cat"

  • It made me smile, too, SniperK2. It surprised the heck out of T2, Tanya as welll. She has a scene that I did not show that is symbolic of the snake at the Garden of Eden. She uses the cane to suggest sensuality. I will show that one the next time you see this.

    "cat"

  • The plot thickens! While the total outline of the film remains shadowy, we are treated to a larger glimpse here than has thus far been shared.

I am struck by the playful nature of Tomas Harper. He seems quite irreverent, unconcerned with dignity or inhibition, childlike, open, at times almost oblivious to his impact on others. Peter Sellers in "Being There" comes to mind, though this is very different in intent, I think.

  • I will look at Peter Sellers in "Being There." Good analysis as usual, Urgelt.

Outstanding in fact. You must have read the script and the book. ;-)

    "cat"

  • It's a wonderful movie, "cat." As you'd expect; I don't recall Sellers ever taking a misstep.

Deeply ironic, which is my favorite form of humor. You are sure to see some parallels, I bet. Though the two films are on different tracks with different purposes.

  • Well taken. Have not seen Sellers in a long time. On another note: I liked your comment on Adrienne007's "The Change." I feel much as you do about her video, with one caveat. The man that she needs or thinks she does, should be aware of herself as well as himself and not abuse the privilege of being with her. She should not put him first. Keep herself intact and create the masterworks that she has done in the past.

    "cat"

  • Ah, you go further than I would. I don't feel she's invited me to comment on what she needs, only on her videos.

If she asks, I'd give her much the same advice, though. :-)
