  • she was 11 in real life

  • WHHHHOOOOOORRERRRRREEEEE!

    lmfao. best line ever. xD

  • but of course it's just a play..

  • This woman and everyone like her makes me ashamed of being a human being.

  • Winona Ryder..the worst actor in the world....

  • WHOOOORE !

  • why is your cursor in the way? its soooo annoying!

  • I watched this in class today, and when it got to 2:24 everyone laughed so hard!

  • This is in my opinion but i say that Abigail Williams should be punished because she wants to press charges on Elizibith Proctor of being a witch just because Abigail Williams wants to be with him theh which we all know that she will be hanged and she would be happy with John Proctor and be with him but in my opinion that Abigail Williams should be well how should i put this...................... Assasinated THE END

  • 2:48 to 2:53 the look on abigail's face lol

  • WHORE D:

  • she maybe a whore

but Wionna Ryder was hot has fuck back in the 90's

    LOL

  • @KingOfEden12 Lmao, very true. But I just meant the character in general, ahaha. (:

  • @PinkWolf95 ooh yeah i feel you dude

    fuck Abigail, dumb slut

  • oh poor commies

  • This child has an insain mind she knows by the look in her eye she knows she is going everyday with the chance of being hanged one wrong word. By what she said "if i have to answer that i will leave at once and never come back and tell the world that the devil has taken ove Salem" that the judge should of known something was wrong with her story, Mary Willams had the right mind to finally confess to John Proctor about whats going on giving him no choice to confess to his past sexual relations

  • You are so well spoken Sir.

    I appreciate your analysis.

  • @ 2:52 her reaction is like "Wow! He actually confessed like he said he would!" Just like he said in the play, from my understanding, "Stop your game now or I will confess about the whore that you are."

  • What amazes me is how people can read about or watch a film like this, express bewilderment that people can be so irrational in their persecution of others based upon some alleged wrong, yet see the Duke Rape Hoax unfold, or the countless "I think so and so is a racist", and not see the parallels in our current culture. We have the accusers, the onlookers, the accused, the public apologies, and the punishments for the alleged "crimes."

  • Abagail if she was alive today, she'd be a stripper

  • I have read and see the word "disassemble" in Abigail's category. What does "disassemble" mean?

  • @taurusgirl65 I think the word you mean is 'dissemble' and it means 'to lie'. Abigail is a dissembler. In other words, she is a liar.

  • @tvdd1973 Thank you for the reply and correction of the word. :)

  • @taurusgirl65 basically it means to take apart, like a piece of furniture, meaning she takes apart everything around her.

  • Mr. Lewis did a fantastic job as John Proctor. He really knew how to bring his character to life with such emphasis and catharsis.

  • lol xD I totally did not realize that this was Winona the first time I watched this xD

  • She gasped in mock-possession the moment she realized she was making a losing argument.

  • SHES A WHORE *bends her over the table*

  • When John calls her a whore the irony is Abigail most likely ended up as a prostitute in Boston like the Legend says

  • thankyou so much for this!

this is really going to help for my GCSE :)

  • I don't think it shows any strength of character from Abigail that she "stood up" to Danforth. It only shows the true extent of her malice and ambition. All it means is that she is full of arrogance; that she thinks she can target the high Judge in her games and manipulation. You see her arrogance rise throughout the movie. At first she only targets homeless, poor people. Then she targets people of increasing stature as the movie progresses. Finally, at the end she goes after the Judge and fails

  • its sad that she runs away with the church's money

  • I heard that found in research Abigail became a prostitute after she ran away, surprised?

  • thank you for explaining some of this theme, really helped.

  • i'm doing the crucible for English so if there's any way you could give me an brief overview of the main events in the play it would be very helpful:)

  • dude her eyes are creepy.

  • adultery back then was a MUCH bigger deal then that, also EMOTE MR DANFORTH.

  • In real life there was no affair between John and Abigail- Abigail was 11 and John was in his 60's. The play changed their ages and added an affair to make it more interesting. The movie is really good though!

  • she a whore goddamn she a mega whore

    also a crazy bitch

  • Abigail was the whore John accused her to be.

    This film amazing!

  • Daniel day lewis' performance in this movie was awesome. I watched this movie when i was younger, but the one thing that I always remembered for some reason was when he cried out "BECAUSE IT IS MY NAME!" that always stuck with me all of these years. Great Book, great movie with good actors.

  • so when he says that he's known her would that be like him saying that he fucked her?

  • @DevinChief yes

  • my english class read the play and watched the movie....everyone hates Abigail! granted, she killed a bunch of people, but i think Arthur Miller made her a good character. she is simply a girl looking for love where it was given before. a lot of this is John Proctors fault for "Knowing her" in the first place. so dont go around screaming "I HATE ABIGAIL" because it is Mr. Proctors own damn fault. but i still dont really like Abby either ; )

  • The legend of abigail williams is that she was found in Boston as a prostitute.

  • damn it i hate abigail!!!!

  • you gotta love john proctor

  • Comment removed

  • WHORE! DDL = win

  • i just wanted to beat down abigail when i saw this. she just pissed off my whole class and even my teacher called her a bitch..

  • a quality moive and great book!!

  • BLABLABLA!

  • sick

  • why don't you upload the whole movie? it is most Mysterious, with excellent performances of the highest order, especially those of daniel day lewis and joan allen. ryder also did a serious acting job as did scofield. the paranoia against witches or communists, and the like - and killing them, etc, as miller alluded to, is idiotic. however, tituba's diabolism was stupid, too.

  • WHOREEE

  • Its hard to watch Abigail blame another person and the court actually believe her. It makes you think of the actually court system of today and how little it has changed. Instead of religion and fear being manipulated, its greed and money. One thing hasn't changed though... revenge.

  • this play reminds me of a movie called Savage Messiah on lifetime

  • I love how he says the word whore, just like "WHORE!!" he says it like a fucking battle cry. I know Winona is evil in this movie, but damn she's still really sexy. I haven't actually seen the film, but I know what it's about.

  • Doing an essay on this right now...

  • WHORE!!

  • thats one of the best scenes in the movie 2:27

  • this play is so passionate it gets in your heart and yhu wonder why people actually stayed on every word of abigail!!!

  • i just finished studying this play in my english class. i always loved reverend hale

  • Because I cannot have another in my life! haha great line lots of emotion. Im actually doing this play right now.

  • BECAUSE IT IS MY NAAAAAAME!

  • Haha her eye twitches 1:50

  • The Crucible is a fantastic film. The acting is so powerful and the story is just beyond words. It shows you how evil people can become when they are denied or are fillled with greed.

    She is a whore...

  • no u

  • Not nice.

  • @TheOnlyENC the play is better.

  • @mer1ve Never seen it, but I'll take your word for it.

  • the best part of this movie!

    SHE IS A WHORE

this is a whore's vengeance now

  • SHE IS A WHORE!

  • this helped a bit ..thanks man

  • This movie pissed me off

  • I plated maratha coery in my school's fall play

  • have a medal (warning medal is a metaphor and i if had one i'd keep it for myself)

  • eeeww mary warren is a not attractive.

  • shes not the most attractive girl, but ive seen alot of girls that are uglier than her.

  • wow dude thats slightly mean...

  • Danforth is the Deputy Governor, not the judge- Hathorne is the judge

  • 1:30-1:33 is the best part in the whole movie. That look on his face!

  • you know what your talking about so i trust u to ask for ur advice xD

im playing the part of the danforth in my performing arts class at school and was wondering, is my character supposed to be stuck up and snotty nosed or more of a calm person?

please reply i very much appreciate it xD

  • He is supposed to be as unmovable as a boulder. He sticks to his own opinion of justice and is unshakeable. You are supposed to play a stern and unmovable person that is not afraid to hang.

  • Thank you very much your information is very valuble, i take off my hat to you.

  • thank you much :)

I play the role of Abigail in an abriged version of this for school.

    these videos help.

  • Thank you for your videos on the Crucible. They are very helpful and more understanding (especially without all the crazy boys and girls in my glass never quieting down)

  • can you do a video from john porters point of view and how hes feelings change for abigale and through out the movie and that why shes so effected by him

  • The mouse pointer is really destracting

  • You can no analyze this work without comparing it to "On the Waterfront." Both written under the strangulation of McCarthyism in the U.S.A. Both written by two good friends torn apart by the post war Red Scare and both plays being tit for tat.

  • I never knew that, thanks for the information.

  • Wait, you didn't know that? Well then, tons of information about the origins of this play and it's "sister" "On the Waterfront" are out there, but it's best to study the time at which each writer's life was effected by the House "Un-American Activities Committee" proceedings. This play is more an indictment of the USA in the 1960's than has anything to do with the Salem Witch Trials. He had to hide the setting for fear of being persecuted.

  • I knew The Crucible was an analogy for McCarthyism. I was referring to On The Waterfront. I've never read it. :)

  • Why can John Proctor not to go immediately to the court to expose Abby when he first hears of the trials?

  • Very good videos, it helps me to understand the characters so much more. Yet, I still can't find any redeeming qualities in Abigail. She's so evil that it's almost unbelievable.

  • it's funny, in reality when she ran away she became a prostitute in New York I think it was *no joke*

  • Were can I find this movie on Youtube, and why has no one uploaded!!.

  • i had to do this scene for school and i was abigail and i actually had to scream it was so fun! we acted out the whole book in class and it was very fun to learn about and see how some of the people acted and how much paranoia existed between these people.

  • The thing is, this relationship never happened in the actual historical accounts. :/

  • True. And Abigail was 11 years old while John was in his 60s.

  • I don't understand why they had to take such creative license...it would've been more compelling to me if they would've left it open to interpretation as to why everything happened.

  • Yeah I understand your objection, there are problems in the sense that it can give people a false sense of history and what the puritans were like. In defence of Miller though I think he chose to symbolise the underlying issues of Salem village in a fictitious sin rather than have too many threads in one story. The whole of the Puritan community's failings were encapsulated in that relationship. Adultery, deceit, lies, anger, revenge. Of course one could argue that Miller misrepresented history.

  • nope she was 17 n john was in his mid 30s bt still kinda wrong lol

  • In the play that's right. In real life they were 11 and 60 and there was no relationship

    :)

  • i need the next bit, where its jst abi and john in the court, when Elizabeth lies

  • try this video

    watch?v=CIkU61KTsew&feature=channel

    hope it helps

  • ooo yes thanks :)

  • Where Proctor calls Abby a whore is my favorite part of the movie. Wish I had found these videos before I had to do my english journals.

  • I always get chills at that bit. And "You are pulling heaven down and raising up a whore."

  • It's funny how he says it because he finally lets it out. Neither the court nor anyone else knew about Abigail and Proctor having an affiar. It was too bad Proctor yelled it out. Do you think maybe Proctor wouldn't have been executed if he left that part out?

  • Good question. Not sure really. He was forced to tell the court about Abigail because it was the only way he could convince them that she was lying. That society would have taken the word of the girls and never suspected foul play.

  • I HATE Abigail

  • really? i love her, she's so deliciously evil, it's great!

  • Abigail is hot!

No, but seriously, thanks for posting this. It will help me on my in-class essay.

  • Nevermind my other question. Its clear by the desk your at that you're some sort of educator.
