Plus, I also must elaborate on why it is a necessity for people to register the weapons they purchase. It is meant to prevent people from obtaining weapons and using them indiscriminately against others. If the government has no registration of an assailants implemented weapon, then they might be unable to track them and apprehend them. It is for everyone's protection. It is not an inconvenience and no one is say for people not to defend themselves...you just have to do so legally.

An officer has the right to search your premises and confiscate any illegal possessions found in your residency WITHOUT a warrant IF you invite them in your house...At the beginning of the show, he clearly did so. By committing assault, a person forfeits their right to consent, which then gives the victim the right to retaliate in self defense. It also gives everyone else the right to assist the victim in defending themselves from the assault. In this case the whole charge rested on the weapon. Weapon was obtained by an unlawful search of Archies home in order to find it. In the eyes of the court the police have no right to be in possesion of the weapon so, no weapon = no evidance, no evidance = no charge. Your free to go and have a nice life !
Just to clarify a couple of points from the comments. The very act of using the weapon constitutes assault irregardless if someone is hurt or not. ( Throwing water on someone would be assult ) But proving you did it with intent to harm them in any way is a whole other matter. 2nd point - If any evidance obtained against an accused is obtained by an improper search by authorities that evidence becomes non admisible in court.

If police officer arrests you and forgets to read you your miranda rights you go free as well. Reminds me of an incident that happened in high school to a buddy of mine. Somebody got pissed at him and started hitting him in the face. It was school policy at the time to arrest any students involved in a fight. My buddy took the punches and didn't fight back but got arrested anyway. The probation officer later said that since the attacker's hands were bruised in the process of hitting my friend that my friend was equally guilty of assault and should be punished accordingly. This country is such a great place to live because of our soft justice system. Only the hardest of criminals feel the wrath. I saw on the show "Locked Up" the other day that a guy in prison has commited over 30 confirmed murders. I mean i guess they haven't put him on death rowe yet because he's just making more room for the prison to hold more prisoners but at the same time he should be put on death rowe for his carelessness for life.
I spent 30 years in law enforcement. It's like a hot dog or ketchup. My dad worked in a ketchup factory and used to see what what went into it, so he refused to ever use ketchup. Hot dogs are the same way. The less you know about it the better. I used to routinely arrest shoplifters who stole over $100,000 a year. Prison should be looked at in a different way: how about "investing" $40,000 a year to keep them locked up. As I see it, we would save society $60,000 a year.

Reminds me of an incident that happened in high school to a buddy of mine. Somebody got pissed at him and started hitting him in the face. It was school policy at the time to arrest any students involved in a fight. My buddy took the punches and didn't fight back but got arrested anyway. The probation officer later said that since the attacker's hands were bruised in the process of hitting my friend that my friend was equally guilty of assault and should be punished accordingly. NONSENSE!

This country is such a great place to live because of our soft justice system. Only the hardest of criminals feel the wrath. I saw on the show "Locked Up" the other day that a guy in prison has commited over 30 confirmed murders. I mean i guess they haven't put him on death rowe yet because he's just making more room for the prison to hold more prisoners but at the same time he should be put on death rowe for his carelessness for life.

I spent 30 years in law enforcement. It's like a hot dog or ketchup. My dad worked in a ketchup factory and used to see what what went into it, so he refused to ever use ketchup. Hot dogs are the same way. The less you know about it the better. I used to routinely arrest shoplifters who stole over $100,000 a year. Prison should be looked at in a different way: how about "investing" $40,000 a year to keep them locked up. As I see it, we would save society $60,000 a year.

Yea I agree with you, I learned in street law that any person who enters your home and has a weapon you may use a weapon of equal stature to protect yourself. Now if he comes in with a knife and you shoot him in the leg, you will most likely get sued. You see that just boggles my mind that they can even sue you when they shouldn't have put themselves in that position in the first place. I also personally knew of a man who was on drugs and beat an officer. The officer will have to live in pain for the rest of his life but the criminal got off somehow because of the legal system.
