Who would've thought the beautiful Nat King Cole song, Mona Lisa, could be turned into a great rock and roll song? But Carl Mann did it. I loved it the first time I heard it when I was 14.
Great old song. I got to meet Carl last August 30, 2009 here in Newport, AR. He sang this song. He's still got it despite the battle with throat cancer.
While Nat 'King' Cole's version is a nice ballad to hear,I must confess that Carl Mann's fast-paced version is something I prefer more.Nicely done by the man who once recorded on the same label Johnny Cash,Roy Orbison,Jerry Lee Lewis & Elvis Presley did.
i like the simplenes ( is that even a word?) well anyway carl mann a great artist who got a little in the shadow of the milloin dollar quartett.... two thumbs up =)
This was a big hit about 1960. I did a version of this song in 1966. Mine is not as good as Carl's but you might like it. It is here at YouTube. The artist name I used is Herman Schmerdley.
Interestingly written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, who independently wrote quite a few songs., however, their other mega successful collaboration is Que Sera Sera (Doris Day, among others).
Harry. What really has meaning exists beyond mundane reality-It was a vacation - Five friends, center of France, Saint Nicolas des Biefs, staying at the old presbitary, magnificent scenery, log fire. And a few albums, a a real winner. Mona Lisa by Carl Mann.
Wow , I have not heard this version for more than forty years . thank

Another artist who sold lots of records with this song was Conway Twitty.
Please listen to it even after Carl's fine performance
