  • There are some wonderful exercises here. Thanks for sharing!

  • this type of trainin is what i will be doin from now on, i usually do alot of cardio but this type of trainin is like cardio and strength in 1. natural strength trainin is beast

  • what kind of martial arts do you do

  • Nice work! I got tired just watching your video Good functional strength.

  • where did u get your power rack? & how much did it cost? thanks..

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • nice to see somebody doing pullups properly!!!!!!!!!!! nice!!!!

  • nice video ;)

  • ill try tht workout looks pretty cool

  • dude. u r crazy. these type of training have nothing to do with martial arts. do you know u could hurt ur muscle or joints just by doing these crazy exercise? no warm up but just swinging with weights. noob.

  • @konzern85 rofl, didnt look to me like he had any problems with it :D troll.....

  • wacha

  • got any tips or pointers on movements for powerful kicking???

  • wouldn't doing abdominal bridges work? and if you do abdominal bridges would it cut out some of that other stuff?

  • @chailizard - these are martial arts excercises man. meant to teach your muscles how to focus in situations where most would lose balance. and the idea of having the pole on his back has more to do with balance then adding extra weight. doing the excercise without dropping or moving the pole. but i do agree with PanicMovement that maybe you should take in a little more protien.

  • It's always great to see creative use of training equipment.

  • 0:38 you do realise there's a great big stick on your back...

  • Pretty creative ! :)

  • you should eat some protein for your muscles

  • good video ,regards

  • Iron ox, chow gar or jook lum kismet 108

  • thats some of that zero percent body fat crazyness

  • awesome vid.. some good ideas in there ill use

  • Some great training stuff there mate, for a skinny bloke you are a machine!

  • Excellent. For your bodyweight you are VERY Strong. Thanks for posting.

  • Nice to see the side strattle hops in the routine at the beginning. Good workout.

  • speed and accuracy is more important in martial arts than big muscles.....want proof? just look at Anderson Silva.

  • @Shokeybutsi anderson silva is as strong as an ox!! ya he's quick and accurate, but he's also built like a tank

  • Being that small and fit he'd better focus on knives for he can defo be fast enough.

  • I dont see how this is going to help my martial arts. I tihnk this is just gonna help more of my fitness. Oh looky I see ChosonNinja/ChosonMusa. Lets go see what park sensei is upto everyone click on Chosonninjas video.

  • i think at least hes not sitting on his ass hes out there doing something

  • all that core exercise and full body workouts and low body fat and still no abs

  • its not Martial Arts trainin, its certainly call fitness trainin haha

  • good Exercises for strength warm up souplesse mind and more!

    it's looks heavy

  • Im not trying to sound like a dick/bad mouth...but that punching bag is that heavy.....I use a standerized UFC brand...that shit heavy...they use the type of sand that totally compacts....that red bag was becoming bent in center....So Im guess 85pounds 95..But Video loooks pretty legit..when it comes to being more agile and all around training

  • how heavy is that punching bag?

  • that blokes strong

  • You need to work on your squat technique as your legs were a little but too close together. But other than that you had very good chin up technique.

  • richp860 is a complete idiot, if you listened to him you are probably just as dumb, high weight, little reps, slow reps, and MC DONALDS BITCH

  • Comment removed

  • Good stuff.

  • awesome work man :p 5stars

  • good vid. some of the many bullshit martial artists on youtube should be watching this as a guide on how to train.

Maybe then they would stop trying to do '13 punches in 1 second' or this 'Martial gymnastics' horse shit. type either in to see what I mean.

    Any way, well done kismet108.

  • Natural KILLER

  • These look really good - thanks for making this, it's given me some great ideas for my own MA training.

    Awesome exercises ^_^ thanks :)

    *bows*

  • what song is this

  • not sure, its from the youtube selection when you create a video.

  • @kismet108 Plyometric exercises would be a better way to do those...

  • Artist: Musicshake

    Song: Dj Juan Caminos

    Time: 06:55

    Genre: Hip Hop & Rap

  • but dude ur kinda skinny thoses exercices will make me loose weight???

  • I prefer the term lean :) lol. Depends on what you want dude. If you want to get big you have to lift heavy.

  • Lifting heavy will only get you SO big - most nutritionists/fitness trainers agree that bulk has more to do with diet. Many body builders get massive from low weight, extremely high reps, along with their diet. Ever seen the guy with the freakishly huge arms? I forget his name.

  • you shouldnt full extend or lock yoru elbows its bad for then and puts pressure on your bones and joints instead of you muscles. thats my 2 cents

  • cheers for the comment

  • great job God bless

  • Honestly what i like to do in my functional training (this is sometimes) take something heavy and perform different exercises like squats or imitate a takedown with something heavy, so it builds my power over time. For Example a sandbag, I perform the takedown from start to finish with a nice heavy sandbag, due to its "weird shape" i would have to balance it, and make my body work alot to take it down... I hope you know what I mean. In your opinion does that work fine?

  • I know what you mean definately. Sand bag training is brilliant! Kettlebells are awesome too.

  • good stuff..check my vids out and lets compare workouts

  • dude, I liked your push up sets video. nice!

  • This video got pulled because of copyright infrigement (one of the songs I used) so had to use the lame copyright free tracks from youtube...excuse the track.

  • Good training although i would increase the speed of some of the exercises... For more explosiveness..

  • Yea i seen the vids and the exercises on the bars. Really impressive.

  • very inspiring..definately gonna try it..thanks for sharing it wid us..cheers..

  • How did you make your top disappear at 2:18?

  • wats ur motivation? jus wondering because wen competing u need sumthing 2 drive u through a regime. gd job jus do more research on functional strength wrk outs :)

  • good ideas.. tnx friend

  • i like this, im training with team quest now and i think i might do this at home. how many times a week would you recommend doing this to start?

  • good workout but he needs to eat more food

  • good training. This seems to be your wamr-up though. What form of martial arts do you study?

  • song name ?

  • First song is "carry on tradition" by Nas and the last is "Fuckin Wit D" by DMX.

  • i like the ball jumps at 5:29

  • Cool traning you can do (: Wish I had a traning room like you ;) nice vid man

  • 0:34 what's the stick for?

  • Helps to see if I am keeping to good form.

  • 0:11 looks funny, but still, mad respect

  • I know it as the spotted dog exercise. Its quite good. Try it when no ones looking I suppose. lol

  • Great workout! Not sure how many reps I can do for a lot of those, but you got me amped to try it out. Thanks for taking the time to post them. They should help my MMA cardio immensely...

  • Check out Bas Rutten's MMA workout cd/dvd. Its very good.

  • 1:20 is the hardest exercise he did.

  • 3:10 hardest one of all i have seen from this guy

  • Love dips! Been training them on olympic rings and its damn hard.

  • dude that is one of the simpler things he did out of this whole video

  • this dude is skinny , but i bed he can kick som ass!

  • Nice Man. Keep training.!

  • nice, some of the people commenting are ignorant, look at how much that guy can go, it's not like he just woke up one day and decided to do a hardcore workout, he had to build up to doing that.

  • You could be the biggest baddest dude you want to, if your enemy has superior conditioning to you.. you're finished.

  • hopefully. But remember you can be conditioned to go for a week straight and it still only takes one hit to knock someone out. So in match fighting with someone of similar skill sets then yes your are absolutely right

  • and as for the skinny comments..

    Bruce Lee put it best.

"A strong muscle is a big muscle"

Definately not the other way around :P

  • that is not entirely correct. If your muscels get too big and you just pump them up, then you will lose speed and condition. Athletic muscles are the best muscels in my opinion. strong and good conditioned. bruce lee had those too, and he stopped doing weights when his muscles were strong but not too big

  • That was just at the beginning. Later, Bruce Lee then said a bigger muscle is not necessarily stronger.

  • doesnt matter how much spaceu got thats just an excuse not to exercise this is using everything he can my room is small as fuck but i use everything in my room to get the best out of ecercising especially in martial arts

  • nice vid but not everybody got is own gym

  • you have alot of space to exercise!

  • After this kind of training you'll have an advantage on the competition. When the over guy is getting tired you will have trained the specific muscles that are needed for that extra stamina.

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing. Ignore the critics.

  • Cool Video Man! I like the heavy bag training. Now I can do something with it besides punching it. I will incooperate that into my workout for now on. Thanks Man! PEACE..

  • If all of this is in the same workout, you are overtraining to an absurd degree. Plyometric training does not need longer than 15, 20 minutes maximum. You should do upper and lower body on separate days because of the punishment put on the nervous system. If you really are doing all this in one workout, you're just burning out your nerves and completely halting your training progress.

  • Critic know-it-alls... psh. The worst vice is ADvice.

  • Have to say I admire really his training style. Really, you don't need much of stuff to do the training. Simple and cheap ;) Really nice, good work :)

  • old school training, the most effective way

  • some good stuff here, nice training

  • Good workout, thanks for the inspiration. Your creativity is wonderful.

  • That was stupid.

  • You are stupid^^

  • Sorry dude, but there's a difference between a workout and and martial arts training.

  • how long do u work out???

  • Your workouts should last less than an hour, and never more than 90 minutes at a time maximum.

When doing plyometrics like in this vid, 20 depth jumps is enough, 40 standing jumps is enough (one or the other, not both). Upper body plyos are best kept to around 20 or 30 reps, and NEVER more than twice a week for 3 weeks. After which, you MUST cycle them out of your training. zendreams(at)gmail(dot)com for more help.

  • ever herd of the overload priniple? you wont gain muscle mass and wieght if u dont apply it

  • First learn how to spell. 2nd if you read the caption, "functional". Do you understand the term. Not cosmetic or bodybuilding! Please share how you train so I can get some sleep!

  • ive never heard the term functional in this context.

wat exactly is it implying (muscle conditioning)?

  • It means improving your ability to function at a particular sport. For example, I can ride a bike to improve my cardio fitness if I'm preparing to run in a marathon, however, RUNNING to prepare would be functional training, since it mimics the actual movements I'll be doing in the event. Functional strength also refers to a strength/bodyweight ratio.

  • FUnctional..

IE. to be useful for some purpose.

In his case he trains for MMA.

There's a massive difference between body sculpting.. and building stamina and strength for fighting.

It may shock you to find this out, but the majority of those super massive body builders are actually pussies in combat, because they're forced to do something more than lift a dumbell.

  • Comparing bodbuilders to fighters is like comparing apples to oranges. Of course a trained fighter will be better at fighting techniques. That said, if all else is equal, a good big man will beat a good little man more often than not. Don't discount the martial benefit of increased muscle mass and power.

  • That would be true, but all else is never equal ;p

Even if you put them both at the same skill level of fighting.. the little and big guys both have strengths and weaknesses.

Most big men are sluggish and can barely manage their own bodies.

While the little man is fast, and can deliver punches and kicks more precisely due to easier muscle control.

However.. the big guy always has a chance to land that crushing blow that the little man cant take :P

It really could go either way

  • thats too stereo-typical, big fighters are more sluggish because of how and what they train, but that doesn't mean that just because they are big they are sluggish, they might not be JUST as fast but they can still be fast.

  • it's all in the training

  • training with less heavy weights and increasing the repititions will give you strong muscles with a good condition. Weight lifting and pumping your muscles up will give you bigger muscles, but you will be slow. the best training is somewhere in between. Frenqly if you ask me, I hate big muscels. I'm doing a bit of weightlifting, and already im a bit slower. there are ways to get faster but I just dont think much more strength than this guy is needed to punch one KO. technique is still important

  • well that's what I was saying pretty much.

I mean you can be a big badass muscle man.. but it's still a tiny nerve taking too big of an impact that dictates weather you get rocked or not.

It takes minimal strength to have what it takes to beat somebody, so any more than that is just weakening yourself in my oppinion.

  • He is overloading. There's several ways you can overload, maximum weight till failure is only one. For example, speed training has you lift around 75% of your 1RM as fast as possible until your reps begin to slow down. You dont need to reach CONTRACTILE failure, you've already reached speed-failure. What you see in the vid is plyometric training, which is meant to stimulate the stretch reflex mechanism and neuromuscular activation. He is probably reaching failure in the height of his jump.

  • i say he is doin good, in martial arts sometimes ya have to overload if ya dont want to be a looser.

  • you almost lost me at the 80s dancing excersize lol (the second one i think)

  • the heavy must've been feather filled because how the hell does such a skinny person do something like that?

  • he trains to have muscles like bruce lee sorta, they are small, but cut!

  • looks good!

  • damn man you need to eat more.

  • cool video and cool music please can you tell me the name of the song and who's it by because that's damn cool!

  • nice wo.

do not cross the legs when chinning

  • whats the best way to get some muscles ...weightlifting ?cause I wanna get some more muscles you know....thanks

    peace

  • I got a ton of great training ideas from watching this, thanks for posting it.

  • to let you know jumping jacks are bad for your heart any exercise where you constantly jump in the same spot is bad for your heart.

  • Hehehe. Where did ya hear that?

  • wtf man thats a load of bs

  • Who told you Jumping Jacks are bad for your heart? How is it bad? Im very intrested.

  • i find the jumping on the spot is bad for your heart comment hilarious. Especially seeing as doctors recommend skipping as one of the best exercises.

  • Recommendation you should cut your hair because it tends to get more in the way. Because your hair falls in front and you have toss it back. But it is not my place and I am sorry do what you feel is right but keep practicing.

  • o finally i cud do something wit my swiss ball

  • I like the swiss ball movements, they were cool, nice vid

  • LOL, thought it was a woman for the first few minutes.

  • lol i should have started with a front view profile!

  • Thanks for the comments and advice guys, I'll try to put up some more clips as soon as I can as I do mix it up a bit and enjoy a challenge. The stick is just there to help me keep good form and allow me to make sure my back, neck, head are aligned and straight.

  • You seem misleadingly strong. No offense, but I would probably (unwisely) underestimate you because of your build/size. Good routine! But what was up with the stick on your back while on the swiss ball?

  • some excellent stuff there dude. then u can either add dumbbells between the feet on the pull ups & dips and alternate that with (non dumbbell)simultaneous leg raises to hit stomach / lower abs as well. why do one just movement when you can do two or make it a whole body exercise?

i'd also come off the ball & onto the incline bench now and add dumbells to yr stomach work, 10 or 12k per hand.

  • Train slow and you'll stay slow. Your form is great! Now is the time to start training more for multi-attackers, and that means explosive, small reps and going from one exercise to another with little or no rest at all. 6 to 8 exercises for about 6-8 cycles; with a 1-2 minute rest between or after a cycle.

  • guy's a machine :D Gonna incorporate some of these into my own martial arts training :D

  • I agree. xlent.

  • brilliant clip mate. Inspired me to try out some of those drills.

  • That was realy cool, lets see some more!!

    -yanis

  • sweet jesus. BEAST

  • Wicked mate. If only a few more 'traditionalists' realised that weight training doesn't have to mean bodybuilding. Good exercises.

  • Man's a training machine. i tried keeping pace and was finished before he broke a sweat.

  • great to see you coming back bro!!!

  • Great clip Nish, got some good strength for your size mate!

    Thanks

    Garry :)

  • Nish you're damn good haa.
