this type of trainin is what i will be doin from now on, i usually do alot of cardio but this type of trainin is like cardio and strength in 1. natural strength trainin is beast
dude. u r crazy. these type of training have nothing to do with martial arts. do you know u could hurt ur muscle or joints just by doing these crazy exercise? no warm up but just swinging with weights. noob.
@chailizard - these are martial arts excercises man. meant to teach your muscles how to focus in situations where most would lose balance. and the idea of having the pole on his back has more to do with balance then adding extra weight. doing the excercise without dropping or moving the pole. but i do agree with PanicMovement that maybe you should take in a little more protien.
I dont see how this is going to help my martial arts. I tihnk this is just gonna help more of my fitness. Oh looky I see ChosonNinja/ChosonMusa. Lets go see what park sensei is upto everyone click on Chosonninjas video.
Im not trying to sound like a dick/bad mouth...but that punching bag is that heavy.....I use a standerized UFC brand...that shit heavy...they use the type of sand that totally compacts....that red bag was becoming bent in center....So Im guess 85pounds 95..But Video loooks pretty legit..when it comes to being more agile and all around training
Lifting heavy will only get you SO big - most nutritionists/fitness trainers agree that bulk has more to do with diet. Many body builders get massive from low weight, extremely high reps, along with their diet. Ever seen the guy with the freakishly huge arms? I forget his name.
Honestly what i like to do in my functional training (this is sometimes) take something heavy and perform different exercises like squats or imitate a takedown with something heavy, so it builds my power over time. For Example a sandbag, I perform the takedown from start to finish with a nice heavy sandbag, due to its "weird shape" i would have to balance it, and make my body work alot to take it down... I hope you know what I mean. In your opinion does that work fine?
This video got pulled because of copyright infrigement (one of the songs I used) so had to use the lame copyright free tracks from youtube...excuse the track.
wats ur motivation? jus wondering because wen competing u need sumthing 2 drive u through a regime. gd job jus do more research on functional strength wrk outs :)
Great workout! Not sure how many reps I can do for a lot of those, but you got me amped to try it out. Thanks for taking the time to post them. They should help my MMA cardio immensely...
nice, some of the people commenting are ignorant, look at how much that guy can go, it's not like he just woke up one day and decided to do a hardcore workout, he had to build up to doing that.
hopefully. But remember you can be conditioned to go for a week straight and it still only takes one hit to knock someone out. So in match fighting with someone of similar skill sets then yes your are absolutely right
that is not entirely correct. If your muscels get too big and you just pump them up, then you will lose speed and condition. Athletic muscles are the best muscels in my opinion. strong and good conditioned. bruce lee had those too, and he stopped doing weights when his muscles were strong but not too big
doesnt matter how much spaceu got thats just an excuse not to exercise this is using everything he can my room is small as fuck but i use everything in my room to get the best out of ecercising especially in martial arts
After this kind of training you'll have an advantage on the competition. When the over guy is getting tired you will have trained the specific muscles that are needed for that extra stamina.
Cool Video Man! I like the heavy bag training. Now I can do something with it besides punching it. I will incooperate that into my workout for now on. Thanks Man! PEACE..
If all of this is in the same workout, you are overtraining to an absurd degree. Plyometric training does not need longer than 15, 20 minutes maximum. You should do upper and lower body on separate days because of the punishment put on the nervous system. If you really are doing all this in one workout, you're just burning out your nerves and completely halting your training progress.
Have to say I admire really his training style. Really, you don't need much of stuff to do the training. Simple and cheap ;) Really nice, good work :)
Your workouts should last less than an hour, and never more than 90 minutes at a time maximum.
When doing plyometrics like in this vid, 20 depth jumps is enough, 40 standing jumps is enough (one or the other, not both). Upper body plyos are best kept to around 20 or 30 reps, and NEVER more than twice a week for 3 weeks. After which, you MUST cycle them out of your training. zendreams(at)gmail(dot)com for more help.
First learn how to spell. 2nd if you read the caption, "functional". Do you understand the term. Not cosmetic or bodybuilding! Please share how you train so I can get some sleep!
It means improving your ability to function at a particular sport. For example, I can ride a bike to improve my cardio fitness if I'm preparing to run in a marathon, however, RUNNING to prepare would be functional training, since it mimics the actual movements I'll be doing in the event. Functional strength also refers to a strength/bodyweight ratio.
There's a massive difference between body sculpting.. and building stamina and strength for fighting.
It may shock you to find this out, but the majority of those super massive body builders are actually pussies in combat, because they're forced to do something more than lift a dumbell.
Comparing bodbuilders to fighters is like comparing apples to oranges. Of course a trained fighter will be better at fighting techniques. That said, if all else is equal, a good big man will beat a good little man more often than not. Don't discount the martial benefit of increased muscle mass and power.
thats too stereo-typical, big fighters are more sluggish because of how and what they train, but that doesn't mean that just because they are big they are sluggish, they might not be JUST as fast but they can still be fast.
training with less heavy weights and increasing the repititions will give you strong muscles with a good condition. Weight lifting and pumping your muscles up will give you bigger muscles, but you will be slow. the best training is somewhere in between. Frenqly if you ask me, I hate big muscels. I'm doing a bit of weightlifting, and already im a bit slower. there are ways to get faster but I just dont think much more strength than this guy is needed to punch one KO. technique is still important
He is overloading. There's several ways you can overload, maximum weight till failure is only one. For example, speed training has you lift around 75% of your 1RM as fast as possible until your reps begin to slow down. You dont need to reach CONTRACTILE failure, you've already reached speed-failure. What you see in the vid is plyometric training, which is meant to stimulate the stretch reflex mechanism and neuromuscular activation. He is probably reaching failure in the height of his jump.
Recommendation you should cut your hair because it tends to get more in the way. Because your hair falls in front and you have toss it back. But it is not my place and I am sorry do what you feel is right but keep practicing.
Thanks for the comments and advice guys, I'll try to put up some more clips as soon as I can as I do mix it up a bit and enjoy a challenge. The stick is just there to help me keep good form and allow me to make sure my back, neck, head are aligned and straight.
You seem misleadingly strong. No offense, but I would probably (unwisely) underestimate you because of your build/size. Good routine! But what was up with the stick on your back while on the swiss ball?
some excellent stuff there dude. then u can either add dumbbells between the feet on the pull ups & dips and alternate that with (non dumbbell)simultaneous leg raises to hit stomach / lower abs as well. why do one just movement when you can do two or make it a whole body exercise?
i'd also come off the ball & onto the incline bench now and add dumbells to yr stomach work, 10 or 12k per hand.
Train slow and you'll stay slow. Your form is great! Now is the time to start training more for multi-attackers, and that means explosive, small reps and going from one exercise to another with little or no rest at all. 6 to 8 exercises for about 6-8 cycles; with a 1-2 minute rest between or after a cycle.

It means improving your ability to function at a particular sport. That would be true, but all else is never equal ;p
Even if you put them both at the same skill level of fighting.. the little and big guys both have strengths and weaknesses.
Most big men are sluggish and can barely manage their own bodies.
While the little man is fast, and can deliver punches and kicks more precisely due to easier muscle control.
However.. the big guy always has a chance to land that crushing blow that the little man cant take :P
It really could go either way
godly04 4 years ago

well that's what I was saying pretty much.
I mean you can be a big badass muscle man.. but it's still a tiny nerve taking too big of an impact that dictates weather you get rocked or not.
It takes minimal strength to have what it takes to beat somebody, so any more than that is just weakening yourself in my oppinion.
