I'm really sad about this album. I expected something like the great Elect the Dead and is fucking electro-pop (it can be good electro-pop but i hate it anyway). Another metal/rock musician who has gone to the dark side.

I hope that SOAD make another album

I definitely think that Serj's main appeal is live. I remember when ETD came out i felt very disappointed, but when i started watching his live shows, i realized i liked his solo work better than SOAD. I cant wait to see this live.

Not sure about this, it might grow on me. It sounds a little mismatched, like someone just took a bunch of stuff and threw it together and then he sang over it. The opening is pretty epic though, and the last minute of the song sounds more solid.

i like Serj alot but.... Definitely need more System. SOAD are legend. I dont think Serj by himself can be Legend. A concert reunion or a new album would greatly bring them alot more fame and oppurtunities.

i think elect the dead had far more abstrakt and melodic elements, and of course, system rocks, but i don´t think there will be a system reunion, since daron isn´t the same he once was

@Slein95 I still hope for a "reunion", remember there arent officially disbanded, and hope dies at last :) Serjs new sound is way to diffrent to the sound of system. Darons album reminded me of a few system songs like She's like Heroin or darts. You know this crazy overtorqued sound which was just amazing genius. And system should be together again bcause I need them and I think we all need them in someway. so the point is daron and serj are great if there solo but just genius combined in system

@Nrage94 system is of course awsome, but i´m just afraid of them making a comback and do a bad album, it might destroy the picture of system we have. i mean, heroes never die, but legends are never forgotten.

apperently daron quit scars for some reason, and has had some bad drug problems, i think that might have been a reason why the lyrics where so messed up. i mean, how was cute machines anything like system? serj would have never made a song like that, also if there where system elements.

@Slein95 I agree man. It's kind of sad where Daron is now...I can't help but feel he squandered his opportunites. (backing out of the tour, etc.) I really don't like scars because of the lyrical content and how he seems to be trying so hard to be over the top. Good musical content for the most part, but I feel like his drive to be bizarre leaves him looking like the eminem of metal.

@Slein95 are you kidding me? The Scars album was great album. every single song is excellant, you have to actually listen with your ears so make sure you do that next time. Daron didnt disband from scars, they just played a concert and recently released a single called "fucking".

sounds like another must buy, will be going to media markt today and pick up a copy. Nice 2 know that the Elect the dead wasnt a one time record and Serj is keeping up the System sound but with his own style.

Bought the Scars record 2 when it came out but threw it out after a couple of months, no great record there.

Please, dear master of Imperfect Harmonies, even if this tune might be wicked and it took you a long time to built that kind of music, but compared to SOAD it just sounds kind of - how do I say this - imperfect.

We want System so badly.

And I don't like the "white-suit-style" looks kind of douchey.

And the composed "wall-of-sound-thing" at the end sounded kind of forced and cheap, as if one wants to be a great composer.

SOAD was good. But Serj's solo work is better. It's what he really wants to do, so he puts more care into making his music. Most of SOAD sounded the same, and it was good for a bunch of hormonal teenagers, but his solo work is where he really shines. Of course, the people who are saying that his new stuff sucks probably are hormonal teenagers....

@solutor102 Not dissing on hormonal teenagers. Just saying that something doesn't have to be loud and super crude to be good. While System's sound was revolutionary at the time, there wasn't very many more places Serj could take the band after the last two albums. His solo work allowed him to drastically change his style, and make a more professional name for himself in the world of art and music. Serj has released books and poems already, and is doing a lot of stuff he couldn't do with SOAD

I've only heard Borders are and this so far, but from those 2 I am fairly impressed with the album. It actually sounds like Serj's style of music, because he has always liked to experiment and try to show emotion through music.

And like every other fan, the reunion will come. Like Serj said "We'll come back when we're needed".

I like Elect The Dead better, i'm all for Orchestration but this is way to overboard. Also his voice just doesnt go with this stuff. It doesnt seemed mixed very well either, the production on the instruments is WAY to loud. Ok crucify me now people for i have sinned because i put a negative comment. :)
