  • Hittman305: I understand perfectly what you mean. That's why I studied Art and made Art for roughly 10 years. I loved what I did...and most of the people around me. But at the age of 45, certain things started to happen, and I needed health-insurance. I could not afford to pay for this on my own :( I wish you good luck, and it's great to hear that you enjoy doing what you do, and I'm not saying this jokingly.

  • We need to start a NEW segment on the evening new, right along with the sports and weather, called "Let's Clean The House" where people start talking about the realities of what goes on in the Congress and the Senate. The masses need a serious lesson in Civics.. Most , I bet, cannot even name their reps. The majority of my students get to high school without knowing anything about how the government runs, but hey can certainly let you know the differences between the latest cell phones...

  • Democracy can't function if everyone operates in "Wait till election comes around" attitude. You knowing your reps is not enough, make sure the reps know you ( not you as a person, but all of you). Representation by the Absentee kills the spirit of democracy. Remember your reps know that people are suffering, the chose to remain either silent or absent.

  • shuvankr, of course knowing your reps IS NOT enough..MY poiny was that mauch of the youth that I have taught for the past 25 years have been APATHETIC toward political causes..so much so that they don't Even know the name of their reps..much less participate in any grassroots movements or contact with their reps to let them know ANYTHING. I think you misunderstood my point.

  • Great Post, Why don't you try a collaborative alliance of Independents in the next election.

The biggest folly of american third political movement is they only run for president.

Get your own mayor in your towns and cities, in next two to three years, send them to senate and congress and in another 5 years try for the White house.

And don't utter words like "LEFT" & "SOCIALISM" till the anti-allergic to the leftist talks is out in the market. If thats a vaccine, even better :)

  • For one thing we need to stop listening to our sides pundits. Turn of FOX and CNN etc..If people think Rush and Glenn really care about us and this country we have another thing coming. And that goes for the extreme left pundits too. Anybody who "word plays" harming each other has a mental illness.

  • Excellent, Ella. It is becoming more and more clear both liberals and conservatives are being used to distract from the evil empire of corporate rule of the USA and the rest of the world. Creating wars, sending our young to die for lies, killing innocent civilians, and shutting up people who point it all out. Obama? McCain? Bush? any difference? Just in party, not in reality! It was a joke on the citizens.

  • It's a Killing Joke.

  • Ella; your last comment deserves its own vid (or series). AJones calls it the 'false left-right paradigm' - which though descriptive leaves out the main cause: Corpocracy.

I have been a supporter of 3rd parties for a decade & though they have made little headway, i feel guiltless.

CMcKinney was not on my KS ballot - i had to vote for RNader. He may sometimes be portrayed as a spoiler or darkhorse, but it is the corporate media who spout such.

  • You have to have enough citizens who really care to have a true grass roots movement. We no longer have that. Apathy, American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars now rule. And we'll all go down together.

  • The corporations say vote for me or no more money. They have more money than 300 thousand dollars so nothing will change.

  • All very true Ella, but will enough listen and take action, I hope so.

  • Thank you for sharing that information. Our empire is all bread and circuses. A fair amount are dissatisfied but their brainwashing is strong and it is hard to break out of their programming. It's almost like we need an apparent corporate lackey to run & win and then change the other way. puzzling.

  • I would rather cast my conscience and go down fighting, than to give my vote to a party that keeps handing it over to the opposition. I have tired of that trade off.

  • Thank you Ella.

  • On the one side, those of us without health care insurance have worked hard to get it. On the other hand those who have it are being scared into thinking they will loose it. We are already at odds with one another.

  • Ted Kennedy has died tonight... no more Amnesty, thank Goodness.

  • Who are the right wing, dictators?

  • What's really funny is that everything is being held up by the Blue Dog Democrats, all of these Senators are in states that have a population of less then 1 million. So basically out of 300 million population healthcare is being held up by states with less than 3 million...1% of the US population..

Congress is supposed to speak for its people, they should only be allowed to take money from people & businesses in their state. So Mr. UHC in Delaware or w/w can't contribute to Montana's Senator.

  • These are frustrating times. I don't want to say it's hopeless, but some days it sure does feel that way.
