  • This is a super ill song...He makes me want to take lessons

  • Mistrz :D

  • greg howe is so smooth, great jazz/fusion player. super progressive, not for the common ear. I love the Hook in this song. the bends take you away from the contemporary progressive riff. He is just having fun here.

  • I loved that Rhodes solo, reminds me of Chick Corea's style, and of course greg howe is awesome

  • super crazy, but not what i was looking for.

  • so fearless

  • Man! He leaves nothing unexplored on his axe...

  • I always seem to hear holdsworth in alot of howe phrasing. Especially this song.

  • This reminds me to Scott Hendersons Tribal Tech, also a great JazzFusion Trio

  • @4tee4 totally agree

  • These guys are HILARIOUS!!...vampiroangelico & cellmate, speedenia...we are all getting quite a kick out of BOTH of your pompous POVs...please, keep it up!

Tell us MORE about scales & melodies, chords & modes...THESE GUYS...

  • Is this album played with Victor Wooten on bass and the great Dennis Chambers on drums, like his Extraction cd?

  • @vampiroangelico Jon Reshard on bass and Gianluca Palmieri on Drums

  • I'll have to check it out.

  • 5/4, i like it

  • Greg is so good it's just laughable

  • chento per chento fusion. love it!

  • I think this album gives Extraction a very good run for its money...because of this song in particular!

  • I don't know about that....

I strongly believe Extraction, as a whole album, makes a whole lot more sense from a melodic perspective than this bunch of scales slopped together to try to impress musicians.

I am not impressed by this, and I'm a jazz/rock musician.

  • leeeeet me guess...you call yourself jazz rock simply because you do 95% minor pentatonic and 5% melodic minor?? you don't get it you don't get it...sorry

  • For your information, I play all kinds of scales, chords, chord substitutions, melodic and major scales, all kinds of modes, major 7th chords, diminished, augmented, minor harmonic (if you even know what that is), and I really feel silly that I have to waste time listing the scales and chords I used mostly.

You don't know who you're talking to, and most importantly you don't even know WHAT you are talking about. If you don't get it, you don't get it.

  • Oh bless his soul, he plays all kinds of scales, chords, chord substitutions, melodic and major scales, all kinds of modes, major 7th chords, diminished, augmented, minor harmonic...

That's baby steps my friend and FTR, YOU have no idea who you are talking to...

  • Actually, from what you typed so far and from your username, I know enough of you to know not to waste my time.

You're the arrogant type who thinks music is about speed orf execution and competition. I know many like you, mostly guitar players. At least 90% of the guitar players I meet, are that way. That is why so many don't make it, to be signed to a label.

To me, instead, music is supposed to be about expressing different emotions, articulately.

  • Oh yeah...from what YOU are typing you sound like the faggy type that are afraid of thinking for themselves and accept the socially preagreed notion of a "good guitarist". Music, life and goals are subjective. maybe some of us don't really give a shit about being signed by labels my friend...some of us enjoying playing fast, ipso facto

  • So, according to your logic, if I myself actually enjoy playing with a far more melodic phrasing than you, then I'm "afraid of thinking for myself" and "faggy"?

Do you even see the idiocy of your unintelligent blanket statements?

To me, playing melodically has nothing to do with being "socially proagreed", and in fact there is no such thing as "socially proagreed".

There is no logic in that statement you made.

  • You have just agreed with what i said then...you know...the part about music beng subjective...no one really cares about what you think and the same goes for me because it's subjective but the one thing you can't do is to make yourself seem superior to other people who don't share your sentiments...

  • Ummm, I wasn't the one who started this whole "superior" thing.

I just said I preferred Extraction from Greg Howe and you're the one who attempted to claim your superiority by making factually inaccurate assumption on me and my playing style.

I was only defending my position.

  • i think you did...when you decided to reply to a very old post. i made a very long time ago...i believe your words were...

I strongly believe Extraction, as a whole album, makes a whole lot more sense from a melodic perspective than this bunch of scales slopped together to try to impress musicians.

I am not impressed by this....

did you or did you not make that statement??

  • Yes but that was only my humble opinion, my perspective, and I never said anything arrogant or insulting towards any other musicians in particular.

If you interpreted it that way, it's a different issue.

  • @speedenia buddy I don't mean to bust your balls, but fusion guitarists can shred just like neo-classical guitarists do.. but they also add something else... more complex music theory, phrasing, and transitioning. Playing fast 100% of the time is not something you do in a song, but rather for a warm up excercise.

Thats right, fusion guitarists look at neo-classical players like they are playing a warm up excercise. So please, save your "speedmania" comments for the punk bands and the mtv

  • @vampiroangelico agree. Most guitarists, esp hard rock and metal guitarists, treat music like athletics. They can't tell the difference between art and craft. in fact, that is most metal for you really; craft that makes the pretense of art.

SPEED: Not everything in life is 'subjective', as you call it. There are certain agreements on what's good and what's not. That doesn't mean they are right, but it doesn't mean that everything is subjective either because some are just ignorant.

  • @vampiroangelico What you said about guitar players its true, but thats because there are more guitar players than anything, so you have more ammount of them who suck xD, the same thing happens with drums, bass guitar, and... anything xD, but you know... its just statistics :P.

Anyways i like what you said about expressing emotions :D

    Adios!

  • @vampiroangelico

youre a faggot. and an extremely large loser. go play your jazz and scales somewhere else.

music is about expressing yourself and looking at naked men. thats bassically what you just said. that statement had a large amount of gayness in it. there GTFO YOUTUBE

  • @thesaintssuck I did say music is about expressing myself, but that "looking at naked men" phrase, came right out of your ass.

If you have to belittle a whole category of people who have done nothing to you personally, just to describe music you don't like, well then you're the one who does not belong on YouTube.

Bullies like yourself do not possess enough IQ to talk about music articulately.

  • @vampiroangelico

im saying that youre gay. thats where the naked men phrase came from....music isnt about emotions. its music its for entertainment

  • @thesaintssuck LMAO "Music isnt about emotions"???? How old are you????

No, wait, let me guess, you're one of those 18 year olds who think they know everything....

You just demonstrated the IQ of a shoebox. Go post on Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber videos. Stay away from Greg Howe.

  • @vampiroangelico Ha im 16 and i love greg howe. WoW im smarter than an 18 year old. This is the best kind of accomplishment, A liking Greg Howe accomplishment!!!!!

  • @thesaintssuck Freud would've concluded something different with your out of nowhere 'naked men phrase'. JUST SAYIN.

in other news: Greg Howe is the shit!

  • leeeeet me guess...you call yourself jazz rock simply because you do 95% minor pentatonic and 5% melodic minor?? you don't get it you don't get it...sorry

  • Vai Greg
