  • Who is your brother?

  • I WANNA SEE THIS SO EFFING BAD! I just got back from New York and my mom was ALMOST gonna get tix for this, but then she decided to go with Wicked instead...... I was pissed.

  • I WOULD say that, but I'm rather addicted to the World Wide Interweb, so... :P

  • It's not "What would you do for a Klondike Bar", it's "What would you do for 'Spring Awakening' tickets". :D And in my case, I'd give up going on the Internet for a week.

  • that's it? I'd give up the internet for a month

  • well if you go to nyc and stand in the "tkts" line for an hour or two then you can 50% of tickets for a show that day... thats what i did for tickets :] and its worth it

  • Lotto!

  • I'd give up the internet for a year! Put that in your juicebox and suck it.

  • Actually, they are students at a German boarding school in 1891. Good try, though.

  • I suggest that whoever likes the musical should definitly read the play by Frank Wedekind!

  • i've been trying to find a copy of the script. any sites you can recommend?

  • Yeah, I've been looking for it too. I can't find it anywhere so far. I got a preview from Google Books but that's about it.

  • You can find it on Amazon. Thats where I might get it from.

  • I saw the show yesterday, with the new cast.

Watching these videos you can tell that both casts are amazing.

The show is like indescribable amazing.

    I'm mesmerized.

  • I want to see this so bad !! I wish Jon and Lea were still there though ]=

  • Wow, i found this randomly and i like this. But what is this ? i know it's spring awakening but what is it ? tv series or something ?

  • spring awakening is an amazing broadway musical

  • Its a broadway musical based ona 19th century play. if it was a movie it would be rated like r

  • I LOVE MORITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i seriously fell in love with every character in this show. mostly the boys :) haha well jon (melchior) is adorable and sooo talented. and i love moritz and his facial expressions in this video haha and always. and i seriously think georg is so cute too and really talented. who agrees? and hancshen and ernst as i said before make my life haha when i saw it last week, the hancshen was different, and really hot.

  • i heard kerry ellis is auditioning for the uk production is it me or does she seem abit too old for these parts? i know she isnt old but these are people playing teenagers

  • i heard that too

i think her voice would work

but i know what you mean about her age

i saw this on tuesday and was blown away

  • This is one show we might have to see...

  • OMG, NO WAY! I CAN'T WAIT! I love So Cal... =D

  • great song!

  • this is a horrible video... it's just so cheezy... an amazing musical though... go see it instead of watching youtube.

  • Jonathan Gallagher looks soooo hot when he's staring into the cam.

  • i know his eyes look so intense and sexy

  • i meant john gallagher jr's.

  • Oh yes. I agree 100 percent! =)

  • My parents saw this musical, they said it was awesome, they loved it so much they let my 15 year old sister see it

  • oh no..like we have never seen an ass or breast before...cover my virgin eyes...i guess some people are easily offended by the human body and yet slasher films were people are cut to bits are so popular..seems like a contradiction

  • is it me or does that blond kid look REALLY familiar?????

  • I always thought he kinda looked like Bazel from Austin Powers aka Tybalt from the Original Romeo and Juliet

  • a school production of this musical will be shown here in our school now that i read your comment and intrigue in the story i want to know how the student will do that here....

  • I saw it with my Dad, and it was uncomfortable, because you do see one of the female leads breasts and the lead male ass, plus the sex scenes are very graphic.

  • uhmmmmm

is the show like really provocative

and like can you see the people actually ripping off there clothes on stage and does it like show everything cause i wanna go see it 4 my b-day but i dont know if like my mom would like it

do you think parents would have a problem with the show???

  • I just saw this tonight and it was amazing.

I absolutely recommend it if you are interested.

Except Jonathan Groff spit all over me. But thats okay because he is awesome and I was in the 3rd row.

  • Oh my god, you noticed that to!!! I saw the show Feb.12th and groff was spitting up a river! :0

During intermission, everyone was like 'ohmigod, did you see him spit?' HAHA, I felt so bad for him, I love him.

  • he is singing really fast tho...but still it was like LOL

  • sitting on stage one day =) cant wait

  • i love this song

  • Check it out folks. Camera man in a red T-shirt in the background at 2:54.

  • I'm seeing this in 3 days! Can't wait!

  • this song is sooo

    cool i love it

  • this was the best broadway show i ever saw!

    the msuic is flawless!

love it love it love it!

    great song!

  • I love this song so. freakin'. much. <3

'Looks so nasty, in those...khakis.' bwahahaha, makes me giggle everytime.

This vid is amazing, I love it!

  • Man! This song is orgasmic!

  • hell ya!!!

  • Does anyone know why they used actually microphones instead of like head mics?? I haven't figured it out...lol

    I love this song!

  • you can project and show your emotions better with hand held mics rather than head mics where its attached and you can't use your hands to communicate your feelings with the mic.

  • Really?? I did not know that! :]

    lol

  • Also, from a technical standpoint, you don't have to worry about have a mic for every single person, whether they are on stage or not. Head pieces are difficult and time consuming to put on, and, in the middle of a show, it's tough to change them between actors. Hand-helds can just be passed around as needed.

  • There's also the artistic application of the hand mics to consider. The entire play features a meshing of the 1890's with modern sounding music; the use of hand mics (something they clearly would not have had in the original work or the time period in which the play takes place) adds emphasis to this.

  • SA doesn't really get that technical benefit because the actors all have head mics also. Michael Mayer (the director) has discussed the artistic reasoning before -- it involves the songs always taking place in characters' heads and emphasizing the separation between that song-world and 1890s Germany, but the effectiveness is debated among fans/critics because there are songs where the hand-helds aren't used. Personally, I like them regardless :)

  • AHHH Spring Awakening is sooo cool i wish it wud come to australia

  • hot but interestin lyrics

  • LOVE love love this

    Thanks

I'm so glad the strike is over so I can get my fix!

  • Im so happy that the strike is over!!!!!

  • The Strike is Over!!

. . . and I'm going again on Friday!! You guys need to go and see this show! It's Amazing!

  • i'm so jealous! you live in nyc? i live in michigan's upper peninsula and i never get to see stuff like this cause of location! i love this musical to death! it's so amazing.

  • hahah its so funny that you live in Michigan, because my family lives there too!

I moved to New York City for Ballet dancing like two years ago so thats why I'm here now! If you have a chance to see it you really should! It's Incredible. . . but I'm sure you already knew that!

  • yeah, i'm saving up to come there. that's so cool that you're dancing there! i wish you the best of luck!!

  • you do ballett?

    anything else???

have you tried modern or contemporary?

    its soooo much fun

    :)

  • Am I the only one hwo noticed that Gideon can't find his microphone? He checks two pockets before it cuts to the next shot! XD

  • I think he is putting his chalk into his coat pocket then reaces inside his coat for his microphone.

  • i watched it again, and youre right! oh well.

  • It took me a few views to figure it out as well. It looks a little awkward, but I do love Gideon.

  • I'm not sure exactly why he kills himself I have not seen it either but by listening to the music I think its because he could not escape to America

  • that guy is so hott

  • Why does Moritz kill himself?? Sorry have not seen show!!!

  • Moritz is the type of kid who goes through high school feeling very alone, he struggles with his studies and soon fails out. When Melchior's mother ignores his last plea for help, and he can't seem to see the importance of life offered by his outcast friend Ilse he decides to take his own life.

Hope this helps! Try to find the song "don't do sadness" That song might help you understand it more. It's sung by Ilse and Morritz. Enjoy!

  • Melchior's mother doesn't ignore his plea, but she can't help him. She offers to do what she can but to him it feels like it's not enough. It's also set in a time that going against the norm is completely unacceptable and since Moritz knows his father will kick him out of the house for "failing" out of school (it's decided by his teacher that he won't move on with his class before the exams actually take place) he feels it's better to end his life than to live in exile.

  • oh god what a bitch!

  • i loved this show. i laughed and cried. everyone was amazing!

  • hey kids. read the play. oh god, what a bitch.

  • I did. It was really random and weird. The musical's better, at least in terms of plot coherency.

  • Read it again. I am not responding to you to tell you what to do, but it's all in the text. The best part about reading it again is that you have a modern reference to listen to that you can touch/hear/feel. It is beautiful, haunting of my youth in the 70s and 80s, yet written then. Read it again. What's the word?

  • eeeek I cannot wait to see this in real life. My mom just bought me tickets for my sweet 16 and we got them for wednesday!! That would be like not even two days away!!!!!!! I screeched and jumped around the room.

  • Hey EeDeCa06--It's 9:44pm on Wed so I assume you're at the show right now!!! Isn't it awesome!! I saw it last Sunday and I haven't been the same since! I can't stop listening to the cd at work and I've been watching YouTube videos nonstop at home!! Help!! I'm obsessed!!!

  • Just got home :D I sat outside and waiting for everyone's autographs. lauren Prichard like ran past everyone, but most stopped. John Gallager was a sweetie. I talked with him for 20 minutes. He says he's on youtube ALL the time. Gallagher took FOREVER to come out lol. but he was really sweet as well. they talked for ever.

  • That's great! What did you think of the show? I truly can't stop thinking about it.

  • it was not what I was expecting. I thoguth In knew the story line until I saw the show. I cried several times throughout. Not gonna say more though cause don't wanna spoil anyone But bitch of living was AMAZING in person. Like billions times better. :D

  • I forgot to mention that Lea Michelle wasn't there! Her understudy was. She was good, but she was no Lea! She didn't have as strong of a voice as Lea, but still good.

  • That's too bad. They were all there on Sunday when I went. My favorite was John Gallagher Jr. He's amazing! I'm going to save my money and go again. I think I'll get more out of it the 2nd time, knowing the storyline and music. Anyway, glad you got to see it and Happy Sweet 16!

  • Thanks for reply. I figured that out after I saw a video of The Word of Your Body reprised.

  • Didn't they show this video on The N?

  • I had stage seats for this show.OMG Amazing. I was blown away and frightened at the same time. They tell you to keep your feet in for a reason. And don't be suprised if the guy sitting next to you pulls out a mic and starts singing. This is a must see. We seen Micky Rourke in the audience too. Prety sweet. The theatre is small so every seat is good. Next time in NYC, WE WILL GO AGAIN....

  • I am not a big fan of musical theatre, but I have to say this show looks amazing! I really want to see it. My girlfriend got me addicted to the soundtrack.

Can somebody explain the point of the whole showering at gym class thing? That part seems very odd to me.

  • They're gay...

  • Whoops that was in response to the Gym Class question.

  • correction only 2 of them are. the rest are all straight.

did i get the story right?

  • Yeah, those two are gay, and they kiss in the video i was saw. So that answered my question.

  • I was referring to the two guys who sang about showering in gym class.

  • ahhh i'm seeing this in 2 weeks!!!!

  • Saw the musical last night!

It was honestly better than I could have ever imagined and I had high hopes before seeing it!

    I highly recommend seeing it!

  • dose anyone have the full show?

  • yeah, it would be great if someone would upload it.

  • the blond is jonothan b wright

  • This version of the song is a little too slow for me. It doesn't convey the energy very well. But I love how Ernst has a little supermodel look at the camera when he says "God my whole life's like some test."

  • Who's the blond actor? He looks familiar.

  • Mr. Sheik's music, orchestrated for a small rock band supported by cello and bass, is often gorgeous in its soaring melodies and gentle rhythms, but its lushness can overwhelm Mr. Sater's moody lyrics, artful and evocative though they often are. And we often seem to be hearing the same notes — yearning, tempestuousness, anger — repeated in song after song; the show becomes saturated in a general plaintiveness that can be enervating.

  • this is exactly why john galleghar jr won a tony...

  • This gives me chills. AMAZING.

  • Love this song! The show was amazing

  • I loved this musical it was totally awesome

  • *drools* John Groff...

    Beautiful!

  • Are you joking? By that logic, no one would be able to post TV commercials or movie trailers. LOL

Anyway... Spring Awakening is great. Go see it, everybody. :)
