  • Where are you Boz Can you come Visit Puerto Rico ..Take you Sailing....

  • he must have really loved his old siera cossie to write such a great song about it.

  • Lovely piece !!

  • Quality.

  • Im so suprised i found this after all this time, ive been searching for this song for the last 5 years

  • I was named after this song :3

  • What a pleasant song!!!!

  • this song is one of my moms favs!! i love it too!

  • I neglected to include, '18Percival05' in my post. It applies to this reply as well - a deep understanding of this unique and beautiful video. Good question! I hope I get a chance to ask Boz Scaggs about his inspiration for this incredible piece of work.

  • "youforte' has a connected sense of this vid -

Boz Scaggs music and lyrics, with this wonderful photography, is one of the most beautiful renditions of unrequited love that's ever been presented on Youtube. It still remains a classic with his fans, and, if you've ever been 'dissed' by your true flame, this incredible presentation may, through your minds memory, help you move onward and upward in life - and you do have 'lookouts' - besides angels across the sky. Animals and angels, hard to beat!

  • @Zona57Bob You said it all for me!

  • Beautiful, heard it on Radio 2.. not into Bob at all but this song really made me think about the different areas of my life..

  • This is a wonderful video and the information with the story is beautiful, thank you for posting ! the music is beyond words

  • @SWEDEDRAE

You are obviously well-connected with this wonderful Boz Scaggs song in your heart! I love your comment, and yes, the music is almost beyond words. I'm so glad you appreciate it!

  • this is the karaoke version

  • BOZ SCAGGS/Sierra 淡々とした抒情的な歌、画像の美しさに魅かれた...。

  • beautiful song..regardless of the backstory

  • My absolute favorite song by him

    Ah, pure beauty ♥

  • Love you long time Boz, see you in 2 days.......you rule always

  • u just wanna dream, when you hear this song. so so great. discovered him quite recently, best song ever! the beauty of the high sierra <33333

  • is the first picture at lake mendocino?

  • Just saw Boz live a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to hear this song SO bad, but he didn't play it. I can't believe this didn't become a hit. I love this song & can feel the heartbreak in the way he sings it. Beautiful!! Thanks for posting with these beautiful images. I come back to listen to it often.

  • I heard this today on a cool radio site called "Cult Radio A-Go-Go!" and it just said "Sierra by Scaggs". I was surprised this mellow tune is by Boz Scaggs. It has more of a Gordon Lightfoot or Valdy sound to the vocals. Nice tune for sure!

  • @HunterMann Wow, haven't heard the name Valdy for a while. My family shared a house with him in Victoria when I was like 2 years old (very early 70s). From a quick search, it sounds like he's still going strong.

  • This is such a beautiful song and sung so well by Boz Scaggs. The way I "see" the story in the song is.. The man in the song is broken hearted because of how the woman he loves and adores has treated him. "Oh you played with his heartstrings" So he has decided to become a recluse and live alone in the beauty of the high Sierras. He is telling her, What about the one who said he loves you, well don't bother looking for me because I don't want to be found. Sad, haunting.. but true to life

  • Wow great vocal by Boz Cannot believe this has not given the praise it deserves!!!

  • This song was made for Boz, the changes in the song, his voice, it takes you somewhere far away, I think the song relates to how a man who has lost someone special in his life, is dreaming about that lost relationship " what about me" I'll get over it, and, how will that peace come to him, a fantacy maybe......don't come looking...I'm at piece with it all... Love Boz long time, he rules

  • Excellent song and wonderful notes. Thanks for posting!

  • Awesome! Never knew Boz' music until the 90 's when I married my soulmate and guitarist, Jim. Wow, do I love his music; my fav is Heart of Mine.

  • Listen Radio Música para Mimos. The best songs of love (search in Google)

  • i feel nostalgic

  • Heard this song for the first time this morning on BBC Radio 2 Ken Bruce Show. Just gorgeous! I knew the name Boz Scaggs, but not his music! Thank you!

Tell me, anyone - now don't the opening two lines, even the intonation, remind you of Elton John's 'Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word'?

  • Boz Scaggs is the best. He loves to play, he's so good 'live.' Awesome.

    Loves his audience, it shows.

I used to live in the High Sierra, was High also ! haha.

    Nice pics, and song. thx.

  • This is so beautiful, but sort of sad. I have a close family member just heading out to see the USofA, and this song came to me this morning. I will miss him so much, and though this brings tears to my eyes and always has, maybe he will find his dream.

  • I just finished the book "The Last Season" by Eric Blehm. It has a similar message to this song. Beautiful.

  • good music, very soothing & soft...

  • Beautiful song

  • aint this the coolest eva track ...... ever,,, what a guy

  • " Some have wings and others sing / The rest do lazy ballets in the air" --

  • One of my all time fav teary tunes...Thanks Boz:

went out there the first time in the early 60's..then after seeing Cal,and Big Sur,went on up the Rockies, thru B.C. to the Yukon, and Alaska..Stuningly Spectacular Scenery..

    {and gave High in the Sierra's,new meaning..lol}..

    Like Tuck,and Paddi's song goes.."Ya take my breath away"..,{at 5000',lol..}

  • Beautiful Song, thank you and Happy Birthday Boz Scaggs

  • My home is in Surrey England UK. This song was played on the radio this morning and I stood still and listened. I am 60 years old and have never heard it before. I've never been to the Sierra and visited America only once. My son is in a fairly successful punk ska band and I hope one day he will be very successful so he can take me to The Sierra... and leave me there.

  • Great song and beatiful pictures accompanying it. What a fine result.

  • I met my wife in 1996. She did tell me that there was this one young violinist about

17 or so who could not come close to her to say he really liked her. Two years went

by and this young man died in a car crash on a winding highway in the Mexico Sierras. He really like her but never got a chance to go out with her.

  • yeah 1959, 1969, couple o' good years, decades...i lived in columbus, wisconsin, 45 minutes from madison, wi, in 1967-69...whilst boz was hooking up with steve miller in 1959..jillygirl only a one-year old toddler, and the birth year of a fireball friend who'd blaze the earth & capture my soul.. good craic to be sure...keep up the fine croonin' boz man...you cannot be touched in terms of your beauty, heart & genuine soul..peace, over ~n out, jilly

  • busts my soul wide open...having just been in the high sierras at lake tahoe...the dizzying heights of joy, splendid beauty & stoke... came home to deep ache of losing a cherished, fireball of a friend...life's cruel ironies...Jesus what do we make of it all? "the angels lay their clouds across the sky"...help me guardian angels.."what about the one who said he cared...don't bother lookin' there" boz is beyond phenomenal, in whatever he sings..his love songs bring deep ache to my heart~jilly

  • 3:20-5:22 would be the perfect ending song to a western movie. Picture the camera panning to the cowboy walking off in the sunset. That's at least what I picture.

  • To Shelly!

  • Great song. Many thanks for sharing.

  • The sierra remember me that, sierras are all North America even Mexico so, all sierras are beatyfull like this song placid and tranquilily allso a good company a beatifull women thanks Boz.

  • This is so extremely beautiful. I absolutely love this. I wonder where Boz is now.

I've already 5*rd and favorited this...long ago. I just come back to listen again...and again. I hope you never take it off Youtube : )

  • 1st heard this on the Bob Harris Radio two Saturday show about 10 years back it's still on my Mini Disc player to this day and always has a very calming affect on me a wonderful piece of music after a hectic day thanks for posting this and for all the More Info facts

  • utterly beautiful

  • I agree, he is one of the best. Some of his recent stuff is really nice if you haven't heard it. I'd recommend stuff like "I'll Be The One", "Desire" etc.

  • Thanks. I haven't heard it. I'm gonna check it out.

  • This had a relaxing effect on me. I wonder if Scaggs played the solo guitar part in this? Well written song. I enjoyed the pictorial as well.

  • Boz has such a haunting voice. Beautiful song and beautiful photos. Thanks for posting.

  • I WISH I'd written it.

  • Tribes rules! IT IS DA BEST GAME EVA!!!

  • This is very lovely. Thank you. Love the little lookout!!

  • Yes of course! Trust me to be morbid. Still very profound though.

  • This is so beautiful. Thank you for posting.

What' is the 'back story' behind this song? I imagine a man who, broken hearted, has taken himself off and died in the High Sierra and whose soul is now nurtured and cared for by the good spirits there. Any other takes on this?

  • @18Percival05 Don't know why you think he's died other than the mention of angels -- but they're around all the time anyway. I like the the bird who gives him warning -- and she's looking out for YOU. He's a beautifully spirited, deeply wounded man -- But there's another mystery, and here's the solution: " Some have wings and others sing/ The rest do lazy ballets in the air." Ballets (pron.)?

  • @18Percival05 Sorry seems to be the hadest word...

  • @18Percival05 Sorry seems to be the hardest word...

  • I love the Sierras and this song always takes me back there. Did Dan Fogelburg write this? It does have his style on it? Boz is amazing!

  • I have assumed Boz wrote it. I am 100% sure Dan did not. From a true "DANFAN" RIP

  • The angels lay their clouds across the sky ...They line up for him every night. Some have wings, the others sing, the rest do lazy ballets in the air......

  • I love this song...haunting melody....I think of it everytime I step out into my backyard and look up at the snow on the High Sierras....makes me want to go there...even tho' I hate the cold.....

  • Love the guitar work and of course the vocals

  • when did this song come out? I never heard it til about 9 yrs ago. I've been with Boz since the early 70's. I dont remember this song. I love it. Isn't that just like him to sing this beautiful song? Thanks so much.

  • love this song, love the sierra

  • Think i hav already told you all wat I think of this !!But it is so gd and so lovely here I go again!!!!It is great v. haunting and such a great artist !!!!!

  • class

  • I love this song.

    Great photos.

  • great photos - even better tune - boz is #1 balladeer of all time

  • Hey, thanks for sharing this vid with me, I had never heard of this song, great lyrics & the images in the video, just sublime!

  • Give the late great Dan Fogelberg some kudo's for 35 years of great songs and ballads.

  • I like Dan just as much - maybe he is #1 - I didn't stop to consider - got carried away with the music and scenic combo. Thanks for the reminder.

  • To me, what's amazing is that Boz's singing voice has got better and better over time. And after all that, i keep on forgetting that he's a great guitarist as well.

Also, lovely video granako. A thumbs up from me

  • Haunting! Best listened to with a large Scotch

  • Thank you Granako for sharing this beatiful clip and info about Boz his talent is timeless .And housecarl16 really mate !!! you need to take a look again your statement is so naive and short sighted.

  • This is one of his most beautiful songs. It brings a tear to my eye.

  • I am in New Delhi-India..its a hot summer day.. the over head ceiling fan is blowing hot hot air.. the temp. is soon going to touch 42+degrees C..but listening to this track and seeing this vid. makes me feel cooooll..this is what fine music does!!! and add to it just the right visuals... FANTASTASIC!!!!

  • Read how good the album was, and esp this song, in the paper in 90s in England. The paper said it was contender for song of the year, then. It was and still is - the song Is timeless You don't need to know the geography to get this sentiment at all, though, of course, we all relate to the mother nature beauty that is a metaphore. The whole album is great. God bless Boz.

  • You must be dreaming Aliciaptlaalicia Ive been to Australia and its nothing like California. Australia is a barren scrub land devoid of any natural beauty. Decent standard of living there but no scenery at all.

  • I love this song! My name is Sierra and my Grandma showed me this song when I was, like, 8!

  • If you like this song and haven't listened to much of Boz Skaggs, try his Silk Degrees album. All of his stuff is good, but that is my favorite album.

  • This is so beautiful it made me cry.

  • Radio 2 are giving this beautiful song some serious airplay at the moment.

As a result, i've just purchased two BS albums for my car & Mp3.

Very few tracks have this effect on me at first listen. Absolutely fantastic, haunting song.

Well done on putting it together with such wonderful backing pictures.

Lose yourself for just over 5 minutes and forget your troubles.....

    xx

  • Boz Scaggs is such a great guy. We were friends while he lived in Plano, Texas. I always knew he would find great success professionally and how nice it is that he has done so on a personal level as well. I hope Bosley will continue to write and preform because, as heard here, he has not lost any of his brillance. Thanks for the great video.

  • Beautiful photos! Its inspiring to see the sheer beauty in this World...so many moments, all unique yet all fleeting. I don't recall the Boz Scaggs tune. I used to play a few of his songs when I was a DJ many moons ago, and I would mix 'Ride like the Wind' by Christopher Cross...I'll have to revisit some of those tunes.
