  • @diazragu2010 It would come out great. Just try it. And it if doesn't look right try a few more times till you get it right.

  • great video but u say this is black women beauty and not all black peopl have hair like this i'm gonna say a majority of us dnt. so idnt think this is fair assumption

  • @mscott290 Umm....you do realize that's a mannequin right? Also many black women have relaxed hair. Regardless, it's not about the texture of the mannequins hair. I was demonstrating how to create a hairstyle. No big deal.

  • Do you have to use them papers ? x

  • Im hella feelin this tutorial. Im Samoan but i feel that I can do this hairstyle...ive been tryna figure out to get curls like that without damaging my hair hella...lovein it. Where did you learn how to do hair? man i love it.

  • @Jjttho I learned by doing it at home. I love hair and makeup.

  • Hmm, Why do you put the piece of paper on the end? That's interesting, what does it do?

  • @hotnov Keeps uneven ends together if you have them.

  • I finally figured out how to use the rods, this ones work wonders with the right technique!! Thank you very much for the video!

  • Does your hair to be a certain length hair is lower neck and I'm trying with the orange ones should I use smaller rods?

  • @sweetypiesmc1 The style looks better on longer hair but you can do it on any length. Just be careful about your placement of the rods so your hair doesn't shrink up too much and end up looking like a fro.

  • that was helpful

  • very nice..I've never used these

  • how do you keep up with these curls?

  • @MsSundiva Thank you!

  • @MsSundiva Pin them up at night and sleep like a lady.

  • where did u get your mannequin?

  • @bakbukia Amazon(dot) com

  • thank u soo much this was really helpful but i hav a question wats the best curling method to use on black hair??

  • @PrincessGems1 I would say this or twist outs. They don't involve heat. Using small rods and doing a regular wet set works too but not if you have longer hair (takes too long to dry).

  • i really love how everything turned out at the end! </3 i want to get my hair like that but idk how everything will turn out i look at other people videos and i did not like it at all.

  • I love your tutorials. I am wondering if you have any tutorials on how to create cute styles for little girls (no braiding).

  • @shortym91 Thank you and now not yet. I don't have as much time to do videos as I'd like but I will soon.

  • i just want to say thank you for this video...i was useing them in a diffrent way and didnt get the complete curls i wanted until i watched your video. so i did what you did and i had my perfect curls. THANKS! lol

  • ii think this video iis great. iit really seems like something i could do myself at home instead of paying my hair stylist over $30 for the same thing. I do have a question though for BlackBeautyTips, what exactly is the tissue paper used for? what does it do nd do you have to use them to ge tthis look? Hope to hear from you soon

  • @SheaButter90 That's right. Save that money girl. You can do a lot more and probably better by yourself.

  • look like medusa with the rods in the hair, but like Athena when they come out. those curse are gorgeous!

  • Oh my gosh! This is so cute! I'm going to try this! Unfortunately for me, I have mega thick hair that takes forever to dry..but I'm still going to try it!

  • Where can I get end papers?

  • @flyyfree06 Beauty supply. Real cheap too. Less than 5 bucks for a ton of them in a little box.

  • where do i buy the rod thingys

  • @gagarrific Any beauty supply should have them. They're really common.

  • i use flexi rods but they make my to mad with curlys xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • I loved it short sweet and to the point and i got every step...give more of the plz :-)

  • I never knew how to use flexi-rods, they looked so intimidating so i never tried them. Then i found this video, and everything changed for me! After finding this video 2 months ago, i kept watching it and decided to put what i learned to work. So i went out and bought some rods and tried this style for Easter. My hair came out great! And i will be doing it more often, Thanks for this video!

  • excellent job. lucky mannequin...it looks really nice

  • I finally did my first flexi rod set because of your video! I made the video on my channel. thanks!

  • @ladydipset88 Good for you and you're welcome!

  • I am absolutely gonna try this on my sister's head as I am trying to go natural for the upteenth time...

  • @natty871 Do it. The style looks awesome on natural and/or transitioning hair.

  • This tutorial was great! I saw a chick at Sally's with her hair styled with flexi rods. I'm getting some today, I just hope this works out on naturally curly hair as well. Wish me luck!

  • @ladiebugz Good luck!

  • why do you need end paper?

  • @TheMusicmakesmehigh To keep your ends together if they are all different lengths.

  • Thank you for your video. I bought the flexi rod. So my next hair shampoo I will use it. I am tired of using snap on magnetic rollers. My favorite curl tool is curling iron, but melts my hair and still struggles to hold the curls. The plastic rollers do good job, but I want to try this flex thing to see if makes my job easier.

  • Would it look right if I air dried it? Also I have hard plastic rod w an elastic string attached to the cap (don't know if I'm discribing right) are the flexi rods better or just as good? Thanks!

  • Love the video. Thanks for posting! I gotta try this!I use to use the curling iron but my curls would fall once I got to the other side of my head lol.

  • I used flex rods for the first time last night on my stepdaughters dry hair. Her curls came out so cute this morning. I can't wait until my hair is long enough to use them. Thanks for the video.

  • oh thank u that was sooo helpful. i didnt wanna keep using the curling iron.

  • @maturitypending You're welcome. A curling iron is very damaging to your hair over time so if you love curls this is a much better and long lasting option.

  • love the vids..wish u would make more..btw the all seeing eye where your pic is tickles me pink lol..thats quite a feat considering im cocoa/cinammon colored lol keep up the good work

  • love that hair style

  • i like it

  • The fuller look is gorgeous!

  • @caribeandiva I agree. It's my favorite too.

  • i like the fuller look better.

  • absolutey beautiful...u should do more tutorials

  • @MsJamqueen Thanks. I will when I'm not so busy with other things. At the moment I'm swamped!

  • where do you get flexi rods? o.o

  • I really enjoyed this! I need to get some of those Flexi rods ASAP lol

    Thanks ;-)

  • @c2a2b

I'm glad you did. Hit up the beauty supply. They are pretty reasonably priced and you'll only ever need one set ever (I've had mine for about 8 years now)

  • thanks so much! very pretty and easy looking with no heat!

  • @supersyd369

    You're welcome and it is!

  • How do you go to sleep with this kind of hairstyle?

  • @LoveEssence

Same way you always sleep...the question is will you have smashed it to bits the next day.

Wearing a satin cap or sleeping on a satin pillow case helps as well as piling your hair on top of your head and pinning it before bed.

  • @Kulvir96

Thanks I love the style as well.

  • Thanks very helpful

  • @jboogiboo

    You're welcome

  • i have those rollers and wen i do it,it doesnt look right do u no wat i am doing wrong? and good job

  • @poobearstinker

I have no clue what you're doing wrong. Maybe if you could post a pic of how you put them in somewhere and send me the link I could help you out.

  • i am definitely doing my hair like this how long do you think this would stay up ?

  • @daisyj2

With proper care (wear a satin cape at night and don't get it wet) it should last a week or longer. Up to two depending on how your hair behaves.

  • oooohh i love the seperated look, the second one! it is absolutely beautiful! ive been using flexirods for some time now and i cant seem to get my hair to look like that, im gonna try again tonight, maybe it will come out like this! thanks for this tutorial!!!

  • @imegaphoneeeee

You're welcome. You can get it...just keep trying until it's perfect.

  • Sorry about that. That was my sister who commented with my channel's name!

  • @MrJonguy45 That's alright. Even if it was you it ain't no thing.

  • I really want to do this hair style for a dances. Where do you get these flexi rods at? And what kind of paper do you use? and where do you get that?

  • You should be able to find them at a Sally's or any other beauty supply near you. They are called flexi rods and end papers.

  • brilliant!

  • Thanks!

  • great video! i have shorter hair and i had these done with the really small rods and it turned out SO CUTE!! im not a good sleeper and my hair txture isnt the best but mines actually lasted abt 3 wks! maybe bc of the products she used or smthn!

  • I love it done with really skinny rods too. Ends up looking more like a straw set.

I do find that the smaller it's done the longer it lasts. And yes, the products could have helped too.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • i was wondering, can you use this for a permanent curl?

  • No...this is temporary and only meant to last till next wash day.

  • @chanel8082009

If you are referring to the permant curl that is used on "white people hair" and is achieved by using chemicals, I would not recommend flexi rods, though they may work to an extent. The type of rod that is used to achieve a "white person perm" is accurately called a perm rod and is about 2 1/2 inches long with a rubber string that secures them at the end.

  • great video...would love to see this style done on a actual person

  • Thanks. Tell you what....why don't you try it on your own hair or on someone you know? If you do exaclty what I do in the video I guarantee you it'll come out the exact same way. :)

  • hey i really like that hair style but my hair isn't that silky and when i sleep with rollers it tends to get frizzy... so i was wondering if i sleep with it will my hair get frizzy and not turn out like that...and does it work better with your hair wet,,, is there a difference if you sleep with it.. thanks

  • very cute...great job

  • Thanks!

  • great tut...i always have great curls the first day but 2nd day hair is almost impossible and gets too flat what can i do 2 revive them or protect them at night

  • Thanks. Keeping the curls in order is always a concern. Unless you're one of those super skilled sleep without messing up your hair types I's suggest you get a silk bonnet and before you go to bed kind of pile the curls up on top of your head, pin them and put the scarf over the top.

In the morning take the pins out and fluff it out.

  • I want to do this hair style during the summer now, does it grow ur hair and how long does it stay that way?

  • Well in a way it does help grow hair because it's a "no comb" hairstyle. This cuts down on breakage and split ends.

This style can last a week or two depending on how you take care of it. Also, when the curls start to fall or get stale you can pin them up into a style and get more wear out of it.

    Hope this helps.

  • what kind of paper is that

  • Just regular "end papers" you can get in any beauty supply. Ask someone and they'll point you in the right direction.

  • can i do that without the paper or is that damaging...?

  • You can do it with or without the paper. the paper is for people who's hair ends tend to be uneven or frizzy and helps you do get everything smoothly on the roller.

  • ok thank you for your help :-))

  • @phamoa Doing it without the paper is fine. The paper only makes sure your ends don't frizz and/or stay in place if they're uneven.

  • does is matter if the rods you use are foam or plastic

  • No it doesn't both work just fine. The foam is less likely to get hot and burn your scalp though.

  • Im looking for a good setting lotion...what brand did you use?

  • I like kera care or motion setting foam and also wrappin' n' tappin' setting lotion. All 3 give long lasting shiny beautiful rod and roller sets.

Remember to use a good leave-in before the setting lotion to keep your hair healthy and moisturized. :)

  • what's a bonnet dryer please?

  • @alerotube It's a hair dryer that's shaped like a bonnet you'd wear on your head. You see the professional ones at the salon but they have cheaper models you can use at home.

  • This style can be done on dry hair. I do them all the time.

  • Do you have any videos showing how you do it?

Maybe it comes down to hair texture because my hair can't hold a nice curl without a wet set and dry.

It would come out with some tired looking frizzy half-limp curls.

  • wow that was beautiful send me the tutorial

  • Thanks...I don't understand what you mean by "send me the tutorial though". Help me out here. :)

  • how many packs of flexi rods did you use? sallys sells them in packs of 10, so how may for a full head?

  • Let's see. I use between 20-30 rods depending on the size of the head. So get 3 packs to make sure.

If you find that you don't have enough you can make the parts bigger and use more hair on each rod.

When you take them out all you need to do is separate the curls more.

    Hope this helps!

  • can i do this 2 mi hair when its dry

  • Of course you could....but you wouldn't get any curls. :)

Winding the wet hair around the rods and drying it under the bonnet dryer is what makes the curls and makes them long lasting.

It must be done with wet hair and air dried under a bonnet to come out perfectly.

  • Very good vid!!!!! Thanx for posting!!! :-D

  • Thanks for watching!

  • ok so u dont dry the hair with a blow dryer??

wont it be nappy when u take the rod things out?

i wanna try this but i dont wanna fuck up my hair with out the right info

  • No. No blow dryer. Do it just like I did in the video and your hair will come out perfectly.

  • Nice :o I want to try that when my hair gets a bit longer :) Where are the rods sold?

  • That was beautiful!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • I did this and my hair turned out greatt!!! thx so much

  • You're welcome so much! It is a cute little style isn't it? :)

  • thank u so much im about to try now

  • You're welcome. Let me know how it turns out.

  • @blinky870 You're welcome. :)

  • This video demonstration was excellent. Please keep them coming.

  • Thank you very much. New videos will be coming fast and furious very soon.

    For now...stay tuned. :)

  • thanks :)

this video really helps :)..but can yo still do this with a bob cut ?

  • @Miz2chocolat3sw33t

I think this style looks particular cute on short hair. The trick to making it not look bunched up is to use rods with a smaller diameter and kind of set the hair elongated.

So rather than have the hair overlap like when you do a regular roller set, pretend that you're creating a candy stripe or barbers pole and stretch it out.

Hope my description made sense. lol :)

  • what does the paper do?

    just wondering...:]

  • From my experience the paper holds the ends togetherso they wont be frizzy and it's easier to take down with the paper there.

  • @gJ0kay

Hi Chocolaterain4 is right. The papers keep the ends from frizzing up.

If you have uneven ends it also help you to set easier.

  • My hair is cut in a bob but I really want this curly 'do. Will it work on me? How should I go about putting the rods in the back where it's the shortest?

  • @313AKA

It can work even if your hair is only an inch or two long.

What i would suggest is getting a pack of short but thick perm rods and use those to set the back of your hair using the same technique as you do with the flexi rods.

That way you'll get a uniform curl pattern all over your head. Hope this helps. :)

  • I flexi rodded my hair based on your tutorial and it came out great!! Thanks for this gem!!

  • @Chasenshana

    I'm glad I could help.

  • Great tutorial now I know how to use these rods very helpful thxs.

  • @millieclaudy

    No problem. :)

  • this tutorial helps me soooo much!!! thank you :)

  • @anja06rimini

    You're welcome

  • This is gorgeous!! I just purchased these flexi rods today at Sally's & now I know exactly how to use them. Thank you soooo much for such a great video!

  • You're welcome!

  • how long do the curls last? and can u pls do a tutorial on how to maintain the curls?cheers!!

  • The curls can last up to a week with the right care. I will work on a video showing how that's done.

  • thanks a bunch.xxx

  • what was the point of that paper in :43 seconds? what does it do?

  • If you have ends that aren't perfectly leveled, it helps to keep the hairs together so it's easier to roll.

It also prevents your ends from becoming frizzy.

  • Can u use foil if u haven't got the paper?

  • Hmm....I've never tried that. I suppose if you're planning to air dry it wouldn't be an issue. I'm not sure about going under a bonnet with aluminum against your hair though.

The papers aren't necessary if you can get your ends very smooth against the rods. If you can't then they will come out frizzy and the style won't look it's best.

  • @enald123 No. You should use the paper or nothing at all.

  • wow one of the best tutorials ive ever seen!! keep up teh good work

  • Thanks a lot. :)

  • Do you have to use that wax stuff??

  • No wax stuff was used to create this style. Just setting foam and a little hair gloss to separate the curls.

It's very light and non-greasy. All you're left with it full beautiful and bouncy curls!

  • Very good tutorial. From this, I figured out why my curls weren't coming out right. Thanks.

  • You're welcome. Glad I could help. What were you not doing if you don't mind me asking? :)
