I think it's the power of the music that really makes it what it is on video. @jmwwd They did go back 3 yrs after his release. He was starting to go "wild" and disappear from the reserve for months on end, so they went back to see him one last time. He didn't attack them and he was friendly, although more mature and aloof. After their visit he left the reserve and apparently never returned. If you look up their website you'll see the rest of the documentary. This is obviously a little too feel good, but it's still a touching story. Glad he was successfully rehabilitated.

Yet the lion which comes walking yowards them does not have a full mane - indeed hardly has any mane at all - and it is impossible for a "maneless" male to become the head of a pride. Only fully mature males with full manes would be strong enough to be accepted as heads of a pride. Can anyone explain this apparent anomaly?

Yes its because that most of the time if you see a Lion with a full mane it means that they are past their prime, the vast majority of pride leaders only have a small mane as seeing a s he is young it is more than possible.

Turns out that because of the initial human interaction, "Christian" acts this way with all humans as evidenced by later excursions involving other people meeting Christian. So it is more likely that he just reacted this way with humans as he was acustomed to as a cub than actually remembering the scent or whatever of these two particular individuals -- the song however is nice.
