A study that finds a significant reduction in the spread of STD's in a survey in Africa where HIV is rampant and there's almost non-existent use of contraception isn't very convincing at all for your cause. WHO recommends this simply as a method to reduce the overwhelming amount of HIV in Africa. This benefit is nonexistent in developed nations with more hygiene and education.

April 15, 2009 Northwestern Memorial Hospital obstetrician is being sued for botching a circumcision and cutting off a portion of the infant's penis. The suit, filed by David Burden on behalf of his son Daniel Burden, claims that on Oct. 5, 2007, one day after Daniel was born, Dr. Marc Feldstein performed a circumcision on the boy. However, rather than removing only the foreskin, the doctor cut and removed a portion of the baby's penis.
Babies do die over this needless mutilation. The foreskin is 50% of never tissue. The reason that it was done started was to curb masturbation, because it was believed that masturbation was damaging to a person's health. This will not happen with an uncircumcised penis. The foreskin is there to provide the "gliding" of the penis in and out of the vagina, without "scraping it". And yes, keeping your foreskin leaves the penis much more sensitive.

Heard plenty of accounts from men who say that they lose sensitivity after they go from being uncircumcised for a long time to getting the procedure done. A study that finds a significant reduction in the spread of STD's in a survey in Africa where HIV is rampant and there's almost non-existent use of contraception isn't very convincing at all for your cause. WHO recommends this simply as a method to reduce the overwhelming amount of HIV in Africa. This benefit is nonexistent in developed nations with more hygiene and education.

However, comparing Muslim groups with non-Muslim does not establish the foreskin to be the cause of the difference in HIV rates (promiscuity is condemned in Islam). Research done in the UK by DE WITTE (2007) shows foreskin has an immunologic capacity from its Langerhans cells, which DESTROY invading HIV viruses. De Witte finds foreskin is protective. Your AFAO (Australian Public Health) stated: "Circumcision has no part in the Australian HIV epidemic".

@aussiexlguy, no, I am against unnecessary circumcision of minors. "My body means my choice". Moslems can be promiscuous, but many other ethnic groups may be more so. What evidence have you that circumcision is the CAUSE of the 16% lower HIV infection?
Rather than declaring "end of discussion", it would be wiser if you acquainted yourself with de Witte's research (Lancet, 2007). He likened Langerhans cells to "bouncers at the door". Once destroyed, the same viral entity can't invade elsewhere.

(Source: google "cia world fact book hiv/aids adult prevalence rate"). On the other hand, the 80% male circumcised USA has the highest incidence of HIV/AIDs out of the industrialized nations! There is still no evidence from ANY developed nation that circumcision offers any protection (despite over 25 years' HIV pandemic).

"Circumcision of HIV-infected men DID NOT reduce HIV transmission to female partners over 24 months; longer-term effects could not be assessed" The study was abandoned becuase of "futilty". The researchers did not get the results that they wanted so they stopped the study.

@aussiexlguy Just because the study you refer to was performed by a doctor who lived outside of Africa, what does her residency do to gaurentee the integrity of the study, the elimination of other variables such as the African Dry Sex practices, and the motivation to please the entity that paid for the study let alone negate the personal bias and position on infant circumcision. The discussion is only just beginning as more and more flaws of African pro circumcision studies come to light.

@aussiexlguy The nationality or citizenship of the researcher is irrelevant in evaluating the quality, integrity and accuracy of a study. Who paid for the study is actually fare more important. Unless this "woman doctor" used very strict controls for the use of prostitutes, dry sex practices, and number of sexual partners, her study is suspect at best. Why not give the name of the study and who published it so that the readers/commentors can read it for themselves??

April 15, 2009 Northwestern Memorial Hospital obstetrician is being sued for botching a circumcision and cutting off a portion of the infant's penis. The suit, filed by David Burden on behalf of his son Daniel Burden, claims that on Oct. 5, 2007, one day after Daniel was born, Dr. Marc Feldstein performed a circumcision on the boy. However, rather than removing only the foreskin, the doctor cut and removed a portion of the baby's penis.

Babies do die over this needless mutilation. The foreskin is 50% of never tissue. The reason that it was done started was to curb masturbation, because it was believed that masturbation was damaging to a person's health. Nice video! Very nice to finally see people being outspoken and logical about this one. I feel like you kinda glazed over one particular issue though... YES sex is better if you are NOT circumcised. For both the man AND the woman. This isn't to say you can't have a fulfilling sex life if you're circumcised, not at all, but the foreskin is there for a reason and sexual pleasure is part of that reason.
Fact of the matter is, removing pieces removes function and nerve endings that enhance sex. ):

@1SlapHappy1 Very well said Slap. I actually heard women complain that a circumcised penis "scrapes" (as they put it) the walls on their vaginas and it hurts them. This will not happen with an uncircumcised penis. The foreskin is there to provide the "gliding" of the penis in and out of the vagina, without "scraping it". And yes, keeping your foreskin leaves the penis much more sensitive.

@EffLabels Alright. I've heard plenty of accounts from women who say that a circumcised penis hurts more. Heard plenty of accounts from men who say that they lose sensitivity after they go from being uncircumcised for a long time to getting the procedure done. It's simple science - the more that something is exposed, the less sensitive it still be. Tickle your feet for two weeks straight and see how sensitive they are then.

Put me off sex for ages. With a new guy now and he is not, and I have rediscovered how much I enjoy sex when it doesn't feel like sand paper lol!

My new theory: Circumcision increases intelligence by integrating infant's penis tip sensations with early associations of sight, sound, touch, sense of self, and thinking that would otherwise be largely delayed until adolescence. The purpose of the foreskin seems to be to create a separate state of mind beginning in adolescence when the penis is often erected involving an urgency to intercourse and joyful reward for following through. Evolution valued making more babies over intelligence.

My mother lived in denial clear into her 60's. I presented her with my research and forced her to come to terms with the reality of genital mutilation. Mothers can have very strong compulsions that are purely driven by emotion. Mothers are not very good at objective scientific research.

Circumcision represents a "double-whammy" against the penis, since:
1) The glans is actually membrane. All membranes are dsigned/supposed to have a covering to protect and preserve their sensitivity. The glans of a circ'd penis acquires a dull, lustreless hue as it toughens to compensate.
2) The foreskin is itself unique, highly sensory TISSUE,as anatomical science PROVES.

All old studies where from Africa where intact African non Muslims had more sex then circumcised African Muslims who do not use sex for recreation due to religious requirements. These old studies repeatedly failed to account for differences of sexual and hygienic behavior in these populations.
