hay i have a big Q. do mice inbreed? i need to know this becouse i am gunna get a snake and i need to get some feeder mice for breeding becouse the closest pet store to me is about 1 and a half - 2 hours away. and if so how many mice will i need to get (males and females).if you know the info i am lookin for please be a pal and share it :). thanks to all that help

i have been watching your breeding videos and am currently in the process of setting up my own system .. love the labellin wish we had that sort of thing here in the uk.i have 5 snakes and will be breeding to feed them ill be keeping 2f to 1 m.. is there any thing else u can suggest

um about the plastic bins.. do they work very good for nursing mom rats? (like the large size containers) and also how did u make the holes in the container? a drill or something? thx

Try hanging the bottles outside the box with only the tip pertruding into the box thru a small hole.

These plastic containers might work cause they seem to be fairly smooth at the level where the mice are but for anyone wanting to do this you can not use bins that have any ridge or folds or creases! Any little creas where the mice can get their teethe on will becaome an escape route! It's hard to find smooth ones, but like I said these look like they may work. Let us know if you still use these and if you have had any chew thru them?

Plastic containers? Pathetic. Seed mixes are fatty. I also hope you're not using pine bedding... God, you backyard breeders are a disappointment.

Understand that these animals are in these tubs for like a week. I use a lot of feeder rodents and i want them fat! Hence the seeds lol My snakes dont want thin rodents. I am not trying to provide the ultimate setting for these mice as they feeders If i was going to keep a rodent for a pet (which I wouldnt do ) i would provide them with a healthy diet and a nice habitat. Thanks for watching. I would advise checking out videos that are relavant for you as a rodent pet keeper not a snake breeder

It's not BYB. She is providing food for her snakes. It's not like she is going to be selling them to you. If you don't like it deal with it. And there is nothing wrong with plastic containers. Sometimes they are tons better than using an aquarium. I don't see any proof that you know what you are talking about and have experience in this category.

YOu can ask a pet store to give you specific sexed rodents. I am not sure why they would all only sell females? sorry not sure

You can make a hole and attach a water bottle on the outside. You can buy hard plastic rounded water bottles which are pretty much chew proof. You can use soda bottles with the water bottle tube. They are harder to chew through. The open water containers get nasty. Hope that helps.

Hey, my trick is to get a bowl of baking soda and put it outside the tank and the baking soda will suck up "some" of the smell.

wow, you are prob the coolest women i ever seen. Ok here is the thing i love snakes and my girlfriend is cool with it, but my collection is growing and im thinking of breeding mice, any advice.she just dosnt want the smell how do you handle it??

lol Thanks r11186m :) My advice would be to start small with yourbreeding and see if its something you dont mind doing lol mice or rats area a huge chore once you get stock going. I spend about an hour a night doing my spot cleaning, food and water. Also twice a week I clean ALL Mice tubs and rat tanks completely with new bedding. I do this to keep the smell down. You can add a little vanilla extract to the water to keep down the poop and pee smell ;) Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

btw subbed =p but could you please make a video for your set-up for the chams i had a pair lil while ago but they died from i think lack of water how do you set a dripper up?

I would do a video, but I don't have the Chams with me they went to chameleon nation here in ontario!! I kept the eggs though I'm going to keep a couple babies:) and I also didn't use a dripper I sprayed their tanks down twice a day... 1s in morn 1s at night, I was lucky for the fact everytime I sprayed they would drink the mist!! hope that helps:)

hmm nice i think the reason they ate the water drippers was because you have nothing for them to chew on if you got any of the holders left try it with one just through a toliet paper empty roll thing in thier and they'll chew that up and should leave the water alone if not =/ you got demon miceys!

i have a 2.4 rat colony setup cause mice really smell like shit! the rats smell about half as bad. if african soft fur rats wernt illegal i would breed those cause they have no smell at all (no musk glands). u ever looked into asf's?

I didnt know they were illegal anywhere but I guess that makes sense being that they are idegenous. I do 2.6 for rats right now until I expand after the move. I dont want to go to big until I make me rack system in the new place. I woudlnt mind breeding asf's but no one around me has them except at the reptile shows and I just havent tried feeding them even yet so I dont want to breed unless I know theyll get eaten. I might pick up a few to feed at the next show in a few weeks.

cool, i was told any ball if its picky it will take asf's i guess since it is its natural prey. there is just somthing wierd about rats cleaning poo and pushing it to one side of the cage i find scary. they say there mean as hell but i got a female normal rat that i think her father was satin himself. bit down last week and held for 15 seconds while i lifted her out of the cage and had to think twice about feeding her right then to a ball, lol
