Baldwin plays the phtographer: like surrounded by super models, always trying to charm the ladies. not a wealthy man, he probably spends his time in bars drinking beer. late in the movie, u see a role reversal....

This movie brings back some many childhood memories. The Edge was my Aunt Nanny's favorite movie. She would watch it all the time and I freaking hated it. But now it is my all time favorite movie! It reminds me some much of my aunt and all the good memories I have with her. She died from breast cancer when I was 11yr. I cry every time I hear that music.

Decent movie, and the scene with the bear tossing Steve around is pretty scary. Hopkins does incorrectly use the term "deadfall" when referring to a pit trap, which is sort of annoying, but life goes on.

The best part is at the end when Alec Baldwin goes psychotic and almost shoots Anthony Hopkins, before falling into a dead fall and getting owned. Priceless scene, and one of the better movies I have seen over the years.

Roger Ebert, while not always brilliant, put it best, the movie doesn't establish great characters only to see them become action puppets, the climax of the film is the exchange of a watch. While the black guy dies first, to fulfill the stereotype, it does so fully aware of the stereotype just to poke fun at it. Well acted, well filmed, subtle genius.
