Shows you just how much marketing has changed...watch the trailer for The Grey and this one back to back...dramatic difference in tones, the narration and extended scenes spoil any attempt to make The Edge feel like a thriller, whereas The Grey shows you just enough but not too much to let you know you're in for a ride...still, these are both really good survival films
@Madkid2784 1º a bear, wolves don´t represent a real threat to humans most of the times 2º Foxes don´t hunt in packs 3º a grizzly is more scary but the polar bear is more dangerous because he is a 100% carnivore so he is more propitious to hunt you for food
@Knastus257 if it was weak/injured/old it might. Many bears that can no longer catch their usual prey will possibly shift their diets. Although I'm not sure if this counts as going "rogue" I know they debunked that myth with sharks.
@technicolour45, What about the 1916 Jersey Shark Attacks. 5 people, twelve days along the Virginia and New Jersey Coast. 4 people killed, one survived at the cost of a severed leg.
The guy in Shawshank Redemption survives, so go watch that then. But... be warned, 'cause this black dude actually chooses to spend the remainder of his life with a white dude on an island....Oh noooo!!! Unthinkable!!!!
Seriously: why the hell you need to turn a good movie into a racist debate? Or you figured no one would reply? Anyway, all races co-exist peacefully right now in the Occupy Wallstreet scene, so I guess there IS hope...even for u and me.
@megalodonNL you're so pathetically cute in your little defense of this stupid movie...awww. Well, I am not Black. But, anyways, I'm glad you're mentioning the revolution! Way to go girl!
@15iiii Yeah it was Bart the Bear!!! He was in alot of movies The Great Outdoors,The Bear, and White Fang are a few i can think of off the top of my head.
@mifski you're wrong baldwin does not act hopkins off the screen. hopkins plays a billionaire who lives a pampered life. He's a quiet, bored man, paranoid his wife might want somebody else. If hopkins played it any differently, he would not be playing the role. Baldwin plays the phtographer: like surrounded by super models, always trying to charm the ladies. not a wealthy man, he probably spends his time in bars drinking beer. late in the movie, u see a role reversal....
This movie brings back some many childhood memories. The Edge was my Aunt Nanny's favorite movie. She would watch it all the time and I freaking hated it. But now it is my all time favorite movie! It reminds me some much of my aunt and all the good memories I have with her. She died from breast cancer when I was 11yr. I cry every time I hear that music.
Decent movie, and the scene with the bear tossing Steve around is pretty scary. Hopkins does incorrectly use the term "deadfall" when referring to a pit trap, which is sort of annoying, but life goes on.
great movie! i remember watching it over and over,i remember geting up at 3 am just to watch it again,it is one of the best movies ever made that teaches us that the strong will and intelegence of mankind can achieve almost anything!
@cameltoe732 I was thinking the same thing... I remember seeing this film a long time ago and am watching it again. I always feel so bad for the black guy getting eaten, it's so disturbing!
@DukeNukenum He didnt die because he was black (although being black doesnt help any unless it's remembering when the 3rd of the month is). He died because he was a young urbanite with no practical skills funbling with that hunting knife.
very nice movie... Anthony Hopkins a great actor as usual.... no idea why include anything "Baldwin" ... weak acting and in this film way too much makeup and tons of foundation....otherwise a very nice film
@HogwartsCastle He seems comfortable with it. Plus, he's a comedic actor now...Who cares if he's not the actor he once was or if he doesn't look great anymore, I personally like the new Alec. It's refreshing.
The best part is at the end when Alec Baldwin goes psychotic and almost shoots Anthony Hopkins, before falling into a dead fall and getting owned. Priceless scene, and one of the better movies I have seen over the years.
I think that was heartbreaking. But heartbreakingly real.
In a lesser hollywood flick the character would have had a revelation and become grateful to Charles. But in reality amoral people however charming don't change.
@LovingScrubbies Bob's antics from the beginning showed us that he always had a contempt for Charles, and that he has a seething jealousy towards him, and Alec Baldwin always plays a good snake!
Bob died of shame, and Stephen technically died of shame because he was too hopeless to make a spear, so nature shat on him by getting his leg cut. The bear only finished the job.
@Turkish941 thats your opinion mine is he's not the best actor (will smith, eddie murph, seth rogan, chris tucker, martin lawrence) and many more are way better that him
@TheIlona19 You might also remember Harold Perrineau (Stephen) from Romeo + Juliet. He played Mercutio, and this is particularly memorable since both movies were released rather close to each other. and then Jews are the First to Loot n Plunder ( Both Effected Countries)
Victors n Losers
Victors by Bribing Top Officials while general Public is still intoxicated with Victory
