MTH Pittsburgh Brill Semi-Convertible Trolley w/ ps2

hi I really want one these thngs. It should say "get of dis der trolley ya jag-off!" haha. What kind of controller do you need. I bought the super street tracks, but I have no transformer yet. I use KW transformers. Do I have to step into the MTH basic controller to operate this trolley? thanks

@Bigtitan56PA Hey chris sorry I took a long time to respond. If you buy this trolley you'll need and mth transformer or dcs to operate it. I also have a PS1 street car which is really fun to run also. I use a lionel transformer to run it. Go to Brady's train outlet and they will help you with anything you need, just talk to Harry about it.

Ok so you Andrew you're wondering about Blackout, well right now currently I'm doing some scenery in the main room and plan to continue that for about the next moth I'd say. So unfortunately I wont have Phase II for a little while, only because I want the main table to get rolling towards the finish line

@railfanfromiantha Thank you Ethan!  I'm using a Lionel cw-80 transformer, so I'm pressing the whistle button and the directional button I was standing just to the left of the camera controlling the trolley.

@Broncort1 Thanks Bob! The little trolley is really cool, and it adds some movement and action to my city area. Man those MTH brewery can really smoke out the house too! When I run it like that for about five mins, I have the wife calling me and telling me to turn that off its stinking and smoking out the house! LOL!

@Southerntreatment Man Joey G you have no idea...LOL my dam cw-80 makes the horn sound constantly on this trolley! I literally have to hold down the whistle button so it stays silent! LOL As far as superstreets are concerned...Well I like them, but Better idea! DING bury the tracks into the roads with some cement and level up the roads with my bridge, and also the MTH sidewalk curbs wont be so ridiculously huge anymore! LOL Thanks for the comments bro!

That's a nice trolley, Nick! If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to DCS, try the DCS Commander. That's what I'm gonn buy when I set up my new layout, and of course I'll also buy a Legacy system.

I did look at the DCS commander, but its around 50-60$ and I thought, well hell I might as well just wait to get DCS in the hopefully, near future. for now I'll deal with holding down the whistle button to stop the horn from blowing on the cw-80! lol Man That'll be sweet if you get legacy! you will love it, trust me its the bomb!

Nice little trolley you got there!  It looks like a great addition for the town. There is a way to program the trolley to make station stops under conventional. All of the subways in the club are MTH proto 2 and we programed them to make station stops under "auto-mode." using conventional power. It's pretty neat!

Auto program...I wonder if that would apply using a cw-80, because my trolley hates this transformer. the horn will keep blowing if I don't hold down the whistle button. I wonder if those subways are on tracks that have a special section that makes the piece do the station stop? Thanks for telling me, now I'll do a google search see what I come up with.

@PghTrainFanatic It should work with the CW-80. There is no special section of track for the station stop either! I know that when I run the club's subways (also PS2) I hit bell-horn-horn on the transformer while the train is in neutral and it says "automode." Then I hit the direction button and away it goes, stopping at the stations that it is programed to stop at. I don't know how to program it, but I will ask the guy who knows how when I see him on Friday... Then I'll let you know! :)

@Bassfanatic94 Mike, Thanks a lot my friend! Heck yeah man, I know where all of the towns are that the trolley is naming. Its basically doing a south hills route from Pittsburgh to Washington Pa. Now There is also the PCC street car which I badly want and it does the east side line from Pittsburgh to east hills.....which is closer to where I live. My LHS owner has one in a personal collection, and I think they are going to sell it to me, which is going to be so cool. Thanks again!

Nice trolly nick. I had two a while back but nothing like this. They both had no sounds and changed direction when the bumpers on the end were hit. But this is really cool and those sounds are awesome. Do u think u will get dcs now?

@LionelCNTrainGuy Hey Darby! Thanks man! Yeah the bump and go ones are pretty cool too since you just power them up and they do it all. This one is a bit bigger sized (scale) and obviously the ps 2.0 makes a huge difference. Most likely I will just get DCS, because my Lionel cw-80 transformer is horrible at controlling this thing, and to buy another mth transformer would be around another 60$. At that point I might as well just wait to get DCS sometime soon. Thanks again!

Awesome trolley Nick!!! We have a RK mainstreet trolley that we run through our town. It has the bumpers on the end so it changes direction once its hits the bumper, does yours do this?

@PRRK4Lover Thanks Jared! No, this trolley isn't the bump and go kind. This one is a scale model and runs just like how and other engine would run. The operator controls the direction and everything. I thought about getting one of the bump and go ones, but I thought a scale one would be cool with the station stop effects. Now I just want to find a Pgh Street car! :-) Thanks again my friend!
