  • 19 people are chippy little autodidacts.

  • Well, I can levitate.

  • Is he reading 'Never Let Me Go'? O:

  • people levitate in hurricanes all the time.

  • I LOVE the way David replies "Yes... it is "no""!

  • I love it when people post videos on Youtube about them "catching out" a magician's trick such as David Blaine, Dynamo or Derren Brown by explaining how they could have done it without using actual mystical powers. Well done.

Equally, when you get people that are so blown away by a trick that they start to dismiss scientific explanations for the tricks, implying that they themselves actually are suggesting that they are really magic.

It's odd how real magic is fake and fake magic is real.

  • It's just...CAN people levitate?

  • u can only levitate in an astral way such as astral travel /projection...anything else is just david blaine malarky

  • @chronicideas

except that astral projection is just as ludicrous and you are just as much of a fucking moron for believing it

  • Is it wrong that this is like my favorite comedy sketch? I just keep coming back to it.

  • @4TensCakes no...its a great sketch!

  • If you look up 'blistering sarcasm' in the dictionary you actually just get a link to David Mitchell saying 'yes it is no'.

  • I recently learned that people can levitate - but only an atom above the thing they are sat or stood on. Corrections/ explanations welcome :)

  • @asdfqwerzxcv6 That's sort of true and sort of untrue. We don't levitate above what we are sat on - we sit on it because we levitate. If you touch something, what you feel is the interaction between its electrons and the ones in your skin. The force between the electrons is what keeps you from falling through a chair.

  • @Drag0nfoxx Thanks for the info =D

  • @Drag0nfoxx the force comes from th whole mass of the atoms in the chair, not just electrons. but yh your right.

  • funny the 52nd time

  • Why are the top comments explanations of the jokes, if someone hasn't understood them then explaining it so bluntly isn't going to amuse them and if they are so intellectually insecure as to not understand them then leave them in there own misunderstood world.

  • @Joooliuss Why are you such a faggot?

  • @Joooliuss comes naturally to me

  • At the risk of over analysing a very funny skit - does david deliberately make a mistake ("10 minutes") so that mitchell can correct him and feel a bit better? I just hate it when I don't fully understand a skit, even a minor part...

  • @bodhamilla I took it that the bit at the end was to further highlight Robert's poor grasp of logic. he isn't sure that people can't fly and doesn't realise the convenience of rounding time to the nearest factor of 10 when talking informally.

  • @bodhamilla i don't think so..think u may be over-analysing!

  • "uh, TWELVE minutes you TWAT!"

  • lol, 'a chippy little autodidact'.

  • 19 people don't know if people can levitate

  • That looks like a copy of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go in his hands.

  • @allmyevilbunnies Yeah it is. Wonder why they chose that- there's no levitating in there. Or did I miss something?

  • @allmyevilbunnies It definately is isnt it? I feel like Robert Webb wouldnt enjoy that book

  • "Because I have the intellectual confidence to appear stupid sometimes." Definitely using that next time I say something stupid.

  • wish we could levitate :(

  • "Lunch in 10 minutes!?"

    "UH! Twelve minutes, you TWWWAAAT!!!"

    X''D

  • Classic.

  • Whenever a friend of mine get into an argument about semantics or something stupid one of us yells at the other, "Ah, 12 MINUTES YOU TWAT"

  • lol i would've asked. it IS very convincing

  • David Mitchell is perfect in this sketch.

  • my brother RE teacher thinks she levitated once, good to see education authorites offering places to the completely fucking mental.

  • Hahaha sooo good

  • These skits are really great.

  • This is so well done, just a perfect brushing of reality.

  • The answer is yes Robert, yes they can.

*flies off to the unicorn palace*

  • fags below going " 18 people can levitate" GTFO

  • Love cant believe ive never seen em until now

  • Anyone who’s seen David Blaine knows levitation is possible*

*Using a combination of a short toe lift cutting to a back shot of carefully dressed stooges ignoring the crane cables out of shot :)

  • @Mirrorboy17 Those 18 can actually levitate

  • "I'm just trying to get to the root of why you felt the need to ask such a humiliating question"

  • @ThouArtCrunchy Why were you in your sister?

  • @VanishingWish

    Lmao he means and

  • Comment removed

  • lols this is lk me n my sister! :D

  • shun the non-believer

  • @usernameunauthorised sh-sh-sh-shunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn-nuh

  • Mumford and Sons ?

  • David just has the perfect voice for this sketch!

  • i can levitate, you just have to use your mind.

  • Lunch is 10 minutes?.. ER 12 MINUTES U TWAT! lol'd very hard then! x

  • [everett N]

  • Googles captions thing is so funny. This what it says: "and it is unlikely that" "no sir" "so close to call" "some units but the skin of the old" "don't know what is it" "to me it looks like" "and basically" "karen...people in the tapes" "people love it on your shirt" "people not doing" "But its not a buisness" "yes it is" "I've got me" "What more do you think he will not be held may eleven" "its a" "can you let me tell you" "when do you think" And way more lol!
  • ... Funny, but they should have had someone levitate in the background.

  • @dadeskr naaaah, that would just ruin it, it's not meant to be stupid

  • But that wouldn't be stupid.

  • @dadeskr ok, maybe that's not the best word, unrealistic then, it's meant to be just them talking nothing else

  • Ok, I agree it would be unrealistic.

I still think it would be better ;)

  • @dadeskr meh, it's opinion i guess

  • LOL!

  • Errr 12 minutes you TWAT!

  • the 12 minute thing is so true of me and my mate. we argue about stupid things

  • The closed captions translated 'can people levitate?' to 'people love it on your shirt'.

  • @ReluctantlyAwake the closest the transcriber gets is 0:55. And even then...

  • "I'm just trying to get to the root of why you felt the need to ask such a humiliating question!"

  • 12 minutes you TWAT!!!!

  • lool

  • 12 MINUTES YOU TWAT!!

  • Only biscuits can levitate

  • Is it wrong that this is a bit like me and my girlfriend?

  • @NoHiddenNames yes you cunt

  • @YouCuntProductions Thank you cunt producer

  • These guys are funny as hell!! How can it be that I've never heard of them before? How can it possibly be that they're not bigger than they are (in America, at least)? And don't any Brits write me back saying "Americans have a shitty sense of humour;" we embraced Monty Python and Benny Hill, didn't we? And Hugh Laurie. And Russell Brand, too! Anyway, I'd encourage my fellow Americans to buy Mitchell & Webb stuff if they can find it; this minute-and-a-half clip sold me on them.

  • @gspendlove

They're English, and if you think you're funny in this program "That Mitchelle and Webb Look" then you DEFINATLEY need to check out Peep Show, Its a series with a continual plot and although they didn't write it, I'd go so far as to say its funnier. : > Enjoy man.

  • @gspendlove do you have frankie boyle in america?

  • @rsfllw Maybe there are some people on this side of the pond who know about Frankie Boyle, but I'm not one of them.

  • @gspendlove Ah, you want to watch some Mock The week, then. He's no longer on the show, but he was for a long time and is fucking hilarious. He's the comedic eqiuvalent of snorting wasabi and lighter fluid. He once said of Queen Elizabeth that she's old her pussy is haunted. That kind of humor.

  • love the way Mitchell puts his hand up as Webb storms off slagging him off as if to say 'oh shit! what HAVE I done?' :D

  • I'm just trying to get to the root of why you felt the need to ask such a humiliating question.

  • David: Lunch in 10 minutes

Robert: ERR, 12 MINUTES YOU TWAT!!!

  • David's "... yes it is no" always cracks me up. Really subtle acting, I love it

  • Bwahahaha, you're absolutely right, one of his greatest gifts is imbuing extremely simple words and phrases with such brilliant humour, and that's one of the best examples.

  • Comment removed

  • well you never know until you ask. ; )

  • "Yes it is no." LOL

  • <3 love that vid!!

  • I like how Webb says that Mitchell is a thick bastard and then the latter says;

"Well, certainly I'am suffciently insecure to have felt the need to establish to my own satisfaction, before the age of 33, whether or not humans can fly. If that makes me a chippy autodidact in your eyes so be it."

  • @Paranomasia12 Chippy LITTLE autodidact. YOU TWAT!

  • @JamesCFraser Damn, so sorry. I was too busy marveling at the oratorical excellence.

  • I laugh every time at that last part. Comedy gold.

  • hahaha

  • i love the little banters between them the most.

  • 12 minutes you twat! i laughed so much

  • I have their autographs. :D

David Mitchell even asked how to spell my name. ^^

  • @EllyGraceKing

whats he like in real life? i know everyone says that people are almost the opposite off camera but i can just imagine him acting all awkward and sarcastic. lol

  • He was really sweet and sincere. He said thank you for coming to see him. :)

I did hear him making sarcastic comments at someone who was there. :L

  • where dd all the canned laughter come from, I'm sure it wasn't on the original

  • It's not canned laughter. They film all the indoor scenes in front of a live audience.

  • I doubt that scene was recorded in front of a live audience, some of the LR's are identical.

  • well....can they?

  • lool love tht YOU TWAT!!!!

  • Love it :) YOU TWAT!

  • 12 minutes you twat!

  • @convict004788 why ruin the punchline?

  • @r0gm0r Yeah, it's like that with so many videos that are quote-worthy.

    YouTube has the dumbest community.

  • @Riketz The thing is...that youtube's viewer/commenter base is large enough to be an effective cross-section of the entire internet-using world...so...yeah...

  • @r0gm0r Given the amount of comments that are just quotes from the video above, who reads them first (or during the video) anyway?

  • @JamieofDover because the top rated comment is at the top of the comments ? :S

  • @r0gm0r It's still under the video. You still have to look down (or scroll down, even, as it is on my computer) to read it. Does that mean every time you watch a video, you have to read all the suggestions down the side as well?

And if you can't resist the temptation to read all the people quoting the video in the comments, why not maximise it to fill the screen?

  • Love it. You twat.

  • This deserves more than 5 stars! LMAO

  • This is my fave ever Mitchell and Webb sketch.

  • lol 0:37

  • The tone of voice when Mitchell says "yes it is no". I lol'd.

  • me too!!!!!

  • @Jacko86plus5 yeh that is funny lol

  • @Jacko86plus5 It sort of reminds me of the voice he uses in the Horrible Man sketches (Bad Vicar, Bad Waiter, Bad Shop Assistant) it is so quiet, yet full of an unmistakable aggresion.

  • @Jacko86plus5 The delivery is perfect, showing some real acting potential I think...

  • Reminds me of a question i would ask without thinking....so funny...brilliance!

  • On TV the laughs arent there

  • 12 MINUTES, YOU TWAT!!! Absolute Class. Watched this on Dave (Tv Channel) a few nights ago. found it hilarious!

  • You're the thick bastard who has to pretend he knows everything! :L

  • the end is absolutely fantastic

  • i had a coneration like this because my friend asked why there arnt any male cows, which is bad enough but seconds later they said brazil was in spain.

  • you're the moron who thinks people can levitate

    lol

  • I adore these pre- and post-filming interludes

  • whats the festion

  • 12 MINS YOU TWAT hahahaha

  • It isn't David's paper. He is keeping it still on his knee, not moving it at all. Great sketch though so who cares.

  • Erm

  • The joke is that Webb is retarded

I know he's not, he's awesome, but that is the joke

  • haha, why are people using this sketch to try and look clever?

nobody cares, let the book thing go its David's paper in the close up just looks like webb is holding it. as for the book thing, on no, the whole sketch is flawed how WILL we ever enjoy it now? it's mitchell and webb ffs! they could accidentally filmt he whole thing up side down and it would still be brilliant.

  • To be honest anything shot upside down would be worth watching.

But i know what you mean, it's only a sketch, and a bloody funny one at that.

  • LOL. I love your pedantry!

  • yes it is no. hahaha

  • nopers thas Davids paper in the close up silly :)

  • man i love readin all the shit americans and british give each over the internet, makes me giggle

  • 'Hah! lunch in twelve minutes you TWAT!'

    lol, classic xD

  • just goes to show that you can't be too careful

  • 'Uh 12 minutes u TWAT!'

    Lol luv m&w

  • What series is this? :)

  • First Series.. :)

  • 12 minutes, you twat.

  • 'Yes, it is no'

  • That's a perfectly delivered line if I've ever heard one.

  • i'm just trying to get to the root of why you felt the need to ask such a humiliating question. lmao

  • 12 minutes you twat!!! lmao!!!

  • It's sad to see that one can't watch a comedy show without having your religion, race or any other such issues thrown in your face. I despair. Thank you, Mitchell and Webb, for just doing good comedy.

  • for fucks sake shut up and watch the video jesus christ...can people not watch a video intended to make you laugh without getting in a pointless dispute over something racial, national or whatever...what your saying is irrelevent just watch the fucking video

  • I love these guys. I love comedians who make you bust out the dictionary to get their jokes.

  • my favourite comedy duo

  • "because... I, have the intelectual confidence to appear stupid sometimes" xD epic

  • you're a complete idiot to say that. you don't get british humor, and if you don't like it, don't even bother insulting it because it makes you look like a real loser
