This is the model that made me absolutely obssesed with mercedes.When I was around 12 I saw a R129 SL600 black with chrome 18" monobloc amg rims. I couldn't stop staring. I'm not one to oogle cars. Not really that easily impressed, except with mercedes. So for 7 years I had a picture of that car taped to my bedroom wall and when I was 19 I bought a prestine 1996 SL500 although champange but It had those rims I loved. They are expensive to upkeep but that comes with anything of that class!

I absolutely love the Mercedes SL Model cars. Call me crazy but I truly love the 2003-2008 models way more than the 2009 models. I think it just doesn't look right. They should of waited before rushing the design. They could of upgraded the design way more elegant. I would rather have the 2008 model than the new 2009 models anyday.

Sls were awesome right until the 3rd gen "coke special". Man, what has happened to Merc? my '64 SL is built like a panzer, and is fun as hell to drive. Now they break down like FIATs, and don't even offer a manual transmission.

you are buying used huh. Be careful, because Mercedes-Benz cars have been getting extremely bad ratings on reliability for years now, and on 2008, finally Mercedes-Benz S class' reliability "kind of" went up.

It's always not a good idea to buy a used European car...I experienced it myself with BMW, so I know.

Good for you! I recommend them HIGHLY for a serious driver. I have an LS65AMG I had it lowered by BM and Chipped for more HP. I have not had it on for a dyno run but it is estimated to be closer to 700 HP! I absolutely love it. It is the ULTIMATE PASSING MACHINE! I can smoke Z06's and Mustangs and cocky drivers of all shapes sizes and ages. I have been beat only by a GT40 an '06 one.

Yeah, it is 145K with all the options that you would want but you get to know the mechanics and service personnel at the nearest dealership very well.

But Top Gear said they are getting better. (?)

I have not, as of yet, had any trouble with my CLS Rocket so, maybe? Brabus did a ton of mods and engine/computer work on the car so maybe they killed some obvious bugs along the way. Hard to say.
