You are missing a huge chunk of musical history. Metal is actually mainly British influenced for a start, if it weren't for the new wave of british heavy metal (NWOBHM) then you probably wouldn't have bands such as BLS. Metal is a British thing, created by the working man who worked in jobs such as the steel industry. Hence "metal".

I quote wikipedia "The first heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple".

Also note the rise of British styles during the 60's

@JimmyG217 the british influence your talking about are the british people that took the music of the african AMERICANS and repackaged it and called it a british invasion- the new wave of british metal was going on here to but only on the underground- sabbath was the first major metal band but it was happening here to- we just called it punk at first- but it evolved into metal- i dont think it was ever called metal until the 80s and then it was all that GLAM metal and zeppelin is not metal

@anonymouslolxD yeah but not all modern music is a direct relation to classical- for example hip hop and country music are no way related to classical except that they use the musical notation but that is how all music is written even before classical- every style of modern music has its roots in the blues and the blues is from the usa-classical music strictly does not make use of the flatted 5th which is essential in blues and rock and country and blues makes use of hooks and rhythmic shuffles
