They choose the voices very well (even if they used a woman for Jeffrey), but the scripts are pretty awful. On two occations, they even translated the dates wrong. I take the english version over the german one everyday.
You're right, but it's not so much about the exact translation, it's about the memories people connect with the show when they've seen it as a child. It's been almost twenty years since this version was aired in Germany. It's great to have this gem on DVD :)
Oh, I love my DVD, too. Fortunatly they put the english version (sadly not the english subtitels) on the DVD, so I can jump between German and English whenever I want. It is interesting to look out for differences.
ACk, I love Bogg's 'German' dub, lol! I actually think the woman's voice sounds deep enough to be an 11 yr old boy...but still a little too feminine. LOL...It's so cool we know the scenes, because I know I can almost do Bogg's little 'What am I?' speech verbatim. I will post this on the page under the German cover. :D
Oooh if we don't have the slideshow of set pics, pluheeze screen cap them!!! :D I know, so much work, lol. Okay, back to watching..omg, I love love the moving omni dials!! This just makes me so disgruntled with the US version. Maybe they will put out a re-release, perhaps if there is a campaign to get one?
The show hasn't been available since 1990. I never found anyone who had a copy of the German episodes. Now it's finally officially available. The booklet is awesome and there's even a slide show with set pics on the DVDs.

They just now released it over there?!!!
Actually I wish the box set over here that I have had a some extras. Like commentaries and behind the scenes featurettes. But it doesn't...
