  • I played this game 11 years ago and only now am I seeing this. It seems every year I learn something new about this game. I would've loved to play this stage.

  • Well guys, what to do?

Those Tanakas hardly share something with this side of the world U_U

Digimon Lost Evolution? I'm waiting for news about it's usa/eur version until today..

Harvest Moon Twin Villages? Waiting for it as well..

And many many other games we don't see being released outside there Òó!!

And some have part of their contents cut out just like castlevania SoTN...It is still a great game though

  • Great area. I like it

  • Well, that certainly didn't look interesting.

  • Crissaegrim. Most overpowered trash in that game.

  • I Believe that the reason for the cuts in the american version of SOTN, is the fact that there was no cut at all, the japanese version only come after the original for PSX.

SOTN was released in 1997m and Saturn version was released in 1998. Those stages and extras had been created only in 1998.

  • freakin japs

  • Well, I love SOTN, but honestly, except for a few new enemies and some music, it doesn't look like we missed much here. Now, a new boss at the end of the level would have been something, but really, there's nothing particularly special-looking about this level. I wish they'd keep some of these things in the games, though... I wonder if Konami feels that Americans can't handle the extras or something?

  • This area is too small!

Though i do like that it resembles the Dungeon stage from Rondo and the earlier games.

  • I wish XBOX had an attachment for the lost levels

  • When did Alucard get so fast?

  • when you're in the inverted castle and about to face the final, final boss in the clock tower... the knights in either hallway have the most exp. in the game. just keep killing them and patientlywait for your level to increase. or you could gameshark it. but what the joy in that. get joy in earning.

  • A great Place for Beelzebub.....Deads hanging there.....

    Pity....

  • Is it just me or are we Americans getting cheated out of extra levels, enemies, bosses, items and playable characters; I am just asking. And I swear I one of those monsters made a noise one of the "Bushido Blade: characters(Tatsuma) makes when he swings his Katana around, of course I doubt anyone but me even knows what Bushido Blade is but zseriously someone tell Konami to STOP CUTTING GAME CONTENT WHEN MAKING THE AMERICAN VERSIONS OF IT'S GAMES it is gettting really annoying...

  • i agree whit you, i dont know why always must be that way

  • Maybe they want to make us all move to Japan, I wouldn't mind but they could just say so instead of cutting content from games when they send them to America; I bet if you looked up every game that Japan has made and look at the Differences between the American and Japanese version there will be some really cool content that was cut out in the American version. I heard that in the Japanese version of "Bushido Blade" you actually had a exploration mode, that would have been cool...

  • but let me tell you something even whit this lost level and this few new enemies i keep whit the american version,, lol,,, i love castlevania sotn just the way i knew for the first time but in other games that cut shit sucks

  • True, the Castlevania games are the exeption when it comes to cut content being a huge deal but in other games it can be obnoxious; I mean think of all the cool stuff that is in the Japanese version of games like "Bushido Blade" and others I can't think of at this moment that we will never see unless we buy the Japanese version and have a compatile system. But it still would have been cool if the extra levels had been left in the American version...

  • @SamiWheeler not reallly.....theres a remake on psp :)

  • i agree with you...totally agree with you its getting pretty annoyinh why cant they just make the games equal its not like the sega and ps cds were diferent...thats so garbage like the final fantasy x..i had to mod my ps2 so i could play FFX international so i could beat the dark aeons something that the american version dosent have...

  • @DARKpoxam Maybe that's it...they don't want it EQUAL. They keep making/developing stuff that's EXCLUSIVE to a certain version only...I think this is how they----oh never mind...

  • the version of this game is for the Sega Saturn and came out after the PS1 original. There was nothing cut when we received the game. konami did no wrong.

  • @SamiWheeler try the psp version :) i think :)

  • yes we fucking are

  • @SamiWheeler Nothing was cut. This is the Saturn game, which came out months AFTER the Playstation game. To give players a reason to buy another version of a popular game they probably already had, Konami ADDED extra content to the Saturn game (which is a great game, despite all the "I hate the Saturn game" reviews out there). Also, all the monster's grunts and screams were poorly re-dubbed in the American game.

  • @SamiWheeler the extra levels are only for saturn...THE SATURN'S SOTN was released one year later...and it had downgraded graphics...it was a bit slower too...also it didnt have the amazing voice actors....so...PLEASE....GET OVER IT MORTALS!

  • @SamiWheeler All Games from the very beginning: Atari to present-day conversions have always be inferior to JAP releases; in speed, difficulty, violence, and content.

  • @YTCENS0R

Atari is (or at least was) an American company :X

theirs been a few times where we actually got more content, harder difficulty etc.

I cant think of them off of the top of my head aside for armored core for the PSP

Ours had a bit of new content, some refined stuff and even manual controls (the original one was A.I only)

they re-released it in japan as the "international edition" because the Japanese gamers wanted it as-well haha. It's rare, but it happens :D

  • @Marazish Incoherent miscellaneous one in a million, comparison.

    "New content"? Replaced* content.

    & "harder difficulty"? Utter_dribble.

What I love about the Japs, is the deliberate lack of pedantic sincerity; such as this level with the hung women - something the US censor because it undermines women, would cause another beating, or lead to WW3~

  • @YTCENS0R

last time i checked going from just sitting and starring at the screen to ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO CONTROL WHAT YOU ARE DOING .

    Is a rather large change.

their were some new maps and other things, then it was switched to international edition where they added more and pawned it off to the Japanese.

Did you even play the Japanese/American versions of the game?

    ""New content"? Replaced* content.

    & "harder difficulty"? Utter_dribble."

Its a prerequisite to these comments.

  • @Marazish Yes actually. Archaeologised every Castle Dracula, Sotn %s and SRs yet seen beaten, contributed to Cwiki amongst many sites. The list goes on.

    ~Thanks

  • @YTCENS0R

    I meant armored core.

As for Castlevania thou, I think the "extras" were only in the Saturn version.

It's like when the 360 gets some DLC that the PS3 doesn't. however in this case it was mostly just

garbage they didn't have time to finish. or quickly slapped together. apparently, the quality of visuals and

sound were better on the PSX vs the Saturn, and their were less lag issues.

  • Comment removed

  • @Marazish Final Fantasy VII is a good example. Emerald and Ruby Weapon were (supposedly) debuted on the original US version

  • @SamiWheeler The saturn version was made after the playstation version by a different team, and the extra content isn't all that great. Igarashi himself disapproved of the extra content. They didn't even bother changing the graphics engine designed for the playstation to one more suited to the powerful 2d hardware of the saturn, and as a result the game has a lot of crippling slowdown. You're not missing all that much.

  • @SamiWheeler You think you are cheated out? Try living in Europe. Hundrets of games that you Americans get are never even released here. A couple of areas that are rushed through in like 8 minutes isn't all that big of a loss.

  • @ZealSeraph

there have been a lot of instances where games have been only released in japan and europe too.

  • @cakestalker Maybe, but overall it's America that gets the better treatment (especially if you're a jRPG-fan), even though the games would have a huge market over here too.

Still, I think it's useless to complain if a game is a couple of (small and useless) areas shorter and cry how we're being left out just because of that. Symphony of the Night didn't suffer for it as a whole. It was and still is an amazing game, and long enough as it is.

  • @SamiWheeler

the american version had a mind-blowingly awesome voice acting. the japanese are the ones that should be jealous.

    *sarcasm*

  • @SamiWheeler It's not because of America, PSX Japanese version didn't have those either, however, the Saturn version was released later in Japan, and so they added new areas and stuff like that.

  • @SamiWheeler They did the same with kingdom hearts. Japan gets the remixed versions, we get jack shit.

  • @SamiWheeler Bushido Blade was one of the best fighters I ever played; loved the unique style.

I know that wasn't your point. Regardless, I had to say so.

  • @SamiWheeler only in japan my friend

    only in japan

  • @SamiWheeler Konami can go suck a fat one. We got jipped.

  • How did you get your at OVER 1000!?

  • ha the deamon as a big ol smile on his face lol!

  • hi dude can u tell me where can i download that game for my sega saturn emulator??

  • Wow, that didn't look like a very big level.

  • yea none of the stuff they added in the Sega Saturn version besides the ability to play as Maria even interests me... the added areas/bosses are just lame and short

  • i had the nose devil in my psx (american version)

  • The enemies in this level give ridiculous amounts of experience at low levels, considering you can cheese them to death with the knife subweapon, and it takes at most two of them to gain a level. That and the dagger you find in here is incredibly broken early in the game.

  • I wonder if this is being played on a sega saturn or an emulator. I've heard that this game has had some bad slowdown but I haven't found any slowdown in this game so far.

  • I'm playing this on ssf of course.

  • really? you make it work on ssf emulator?? how come it works, when i downloaded this rom and played wiht the ssf emulator, it doesn,t work at all!! please share me a video how you make this game works to your computer, i really wanted to play this game!!! thank you!!!

  • really? you make it work to your ssf emulator? how come it works to your computer and mine was not? please share me some video that how make this game work to your ssf emulator. Thank You...

  • Excuse me, but did you try setting the region to JAP?

  • Ill buy ur game if its for ps1

  • what sword are you using??? is that in the playstation version??

  • Crissaegrim, the most overpowered weapon in the game

  • were do you get this Crissaegrim?

  • From the enemy Schmoo in the Reverse Library.

  • @Method8211 i wish that it was in DoS (btw there is the valmanway) and PoR cuz there is no weapon better than the Crissaegrim :(

  • @Method8211 actually if u take some time the muramasa is the est

  • Tha name of the Sword is Crissaegrim and it only drops from Shmoo ( invert library)

  • no es falso es otra version es como el de psp se puede usar a maria

  • lmao

this wasn't deleted, they never finish it in the first place. in the year 1998, they ported the psx game to the saturn just to a add a few bonus features. they never made the saturn version in the U.S, cos it's a weak console plus sega said they wants everybody to focus on the new dreamcast instead.

  • what is this?! there were extra rooms, battles, and familiars in other versions? AND the ability to play as Maria?! tch..im mad now. i have the ps1 version, why did they cut stuff out? ughh

  • It's not cut out. The PSX versions were unfinished. This one came out a year later.

  • ohhh really? damn..id rather have waited than to get an unfinished game. oh well its still damn good though.

  • well you would've needed to get a saturn and the import of the game; only in japan. you might be able to get it on ebay. check out the differences on wiki, it might just persuade you

  • he seems to walk a little faster also??

  • yeah, cuz there is a relic that allows you to run that fast. Jap Sat exclusive, just like the Alucard Spear.

  • thats the boot

  • ive HEARD that there is a way to get in this on the inverted castle on the 360 version but AFTER you beat the game once....just a rumor tho

    same with the Underground garden...

  • They made a romanization of the Saturn Version for the PSP. Its in The Dracula X chronicles as an unlockable.

  • no

    filler

  • i cant get the nose devil :<

  • I wish they would had include everything from the saturn & psx version into the psp!!!!!

  • I know, I'm so envious.

  • i tink this is the sega saturn version, you cant go ther in the psx version, neader in the psp or xbox360 version

  • how do you get into the cursed prison???

  • is dis work for PSP version?..if it is not..daaamn..i will cry..lol^^

  • It doesn't :(

  • Why in hell did they remove those areas and monsters etc... the music is awesome, graphics omg

  • does the japanese version really have more familiars?????

  • Two more, a Tengu that you can see in the video and a Pixie that looks similar (and acts like) the fairy but can sing. They were removed in the PSX version, and as a result the Sword familiar was moved around to a new location.

  • omg thank you! i have the psp version and i just found that other weird Demon familiar and the new fairy!!!! so is the psp version the japanese version or somthing????

  • wher is the other fairy DX

    i hav the "n demon"

but...nuuu! iv scoured teh castle and still cant find it!

  • i found the other fairy card on acsiden But i can still tell you were it is, add me as a youtube friend so i can sent you the video.

  • Jap only :P

  • Is this the Play Station 1 and it happenes the same for the english version?

  • hey are the lost levels cursed prison and underground garden in the psp version

  • Sadly, no. All the ports are of the PSX version

  • all man that sucks

  • I suppose is a nice shortcut..i think, other then that its kinda crap :/

  • what i can open the lost level?

  • I think the jap version is waaaay better than the american version has more stuff in it.

  • Hey ! If we use the Heart Refresh with the duplicator to get out the castle...

  • This level are great and the music sounds so good, Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP have a Prision level and It s rare no see a Prision In the Symphony of the Night I think that could be a way or trick to open the levels in The PSP

  • Why is your magic meter red instead of blue ?

  • it is japanese version it has alot more things than american

  • I know that ^^

But it doesn't tell me why is the magic meter red instead of blue. Special item maybe ?

  • how do you get to the cursed prison?

  • its only available on saturn version of SOTN, its not available on psx

  • That also include the Underground Gardens right? But what about the SotN remake for Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP? You can also get that demon familiar as well as the Fairy...

  • nope, i think it also not included with the underground garden, so far i know they disable it in psx version because it somehow related to religios and thats why they disable it..sotn remake for dracula x cronicles for psp..?hmmm i dont know lol..huhuhuhu, since i only play a little castlevania dracula X or psp.the hero in that game cannot use item and etc, its kind of boring~~..it is true there are sotn for psp.?hmmm...Time to GOOGLE~~~

  • it's Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. One of the games you can unlock is SotN as well as the original: Rondo of Blood

  • I do not care if the cursed prison and underground gardens had no point of just being there. It's such a shame they did not include all the extra stuff on the psp version. The gardens looked so cool. I was expecting the psp version of SOTN to be complete in every sense. Oh well, I could just comfort myself watching these youtube videos where someone else is playing these stages.(sniff)

  • Oh well, I guess Igarashi had SOME good reason not including these areas in the PSP version. The PSP version is still pretty cool, dontcha think? I like the new Maria.

  • wow what was the point of that level

  • very short level for a 4 minute long song haha

  • Wow. That sucked... No wonder IGA wants us to forget it. Quality >>> Quantity.

And PlayStation version came first. It was the Saturn version that was the port. PlayStation version was originally released 1997. Saturn version was released 1998.

  • you can find the sword by killing the shmoo multiple times (hard to get) in the inverted library.

The sword is called the Crissagrim

Its cool to get two becuase youll be unstoppable

  • That's a very short level.

  • where i can find that sword?

  • so, that explains all the blanc spots on the map

  • don't forget the running shoes ;)

  • I love how he avoids the time stopper power and thus effectively reassures me that NOBODY wants that useless power XD:

  • Well because of the new control scheme it's easier to evade and kill massive amounts of enemies. In the original castlevania it turned hard battles like fighting against several white dragons into tapping the b button.

  • cant you use the time stopping item to move the right statue in the clock room to get alucards items ?

  • those are Alucart. They're like Alucard's original items, only weaker. The real ones are found later in the game.

  • Hi just adde my new song on youtube. The song is made for castlevania fans and contains many castlemania elements.

Go check my profile and you will fin it. The name od the song is SON OF SIMON BELMONT. Sure you will like it.

  • I just downloaded .cue and .bin files for this game, plus an emulator. Has anybody ever had success playing this on their computer? I've been crapped out of luck lately, I don't know what I haven't done. I've even managed to get Dracula X Chi no Rondo to work, but not this.

  • what you need to google is ps emulator preconfigured or epsxe preconfigured andit works

  • I have have! Whats not working?

  • well, I downloaded several emulators with all the plugins. I already have a virtual drive installed, and I have the bios. With everything configured, and the saturn start up screen comes up, I try to start the game and it says something about the disc not being a readable disc, whether the emulator is reading the .bin file or if it's mounted onto a virtual drive.

I've experimented with other emulators, and I get various errors, this setup is the farthest i've got.

  • my question is this, besides looking different, what is the difference between both demon familiars? and also what is difference between both fairies?

  • Per Wikipedia:

The Sprite was simply a palette-swap of the Fairy, however, she can sing a song for you. ... The Nose Devil is exactly the same as the Demon, but with a different look. The Sprite was removed due to being essentially identical to the Fairy, and the Nose Devil was removed because it was a Japanese cultural/pop culture reference that the rest of the world would not understand, in addition to being essentially identical to the Demon.

  • Very good music. I wish this had been included in the U.S. version just for that.

  • It's pretty obvious why these stages were cut from the PS version.

  • these stages were not cut from the PS. They had a deadline, could not fit then in and decided to put them in the Saturn version which came later.

  • wtf.. the sega saturn came first; they editted it out from the U.S. version because of censorship and crap; that's why most games that were translated from Japan are missing a shit load of the good stuff; simply because the man did not like it.

  • censorship?

  • Dude! The American Playstation version came first. Of coarse, if you took the time to read N9olan's post, you would know that.

  • the best weapon in this whole game is GODS SWORD THAT GOT LIKE 999999 DAMAGE

  • i new it was the best weapon i got it i was just being dumb

  • Just so ya know, the Jap version of Symphony of the Night has the 2 extra familiars of the Devil with the pitchfork and the extra Fairy aswell. The saturn only had extra enemies and extra levels, along with being able to use Maria.

  • Jap u racist

  • You know if the Japaneses version of Psx is equal ??

  • It wasn't taken out of the PS version. The Saturn version came out over a year later, hence the extra content.

  • Though it was nice to see, I can understand why they took this level out for the PSX version. It serves no purpose.

  • nice i like the magic meter. nose deomn is pretty cool if not in for no reason... i want to see the extra weapons also. alucard spear or whatever it's called. the rainbow cloak in action, and other stuff not coming to mind.

  • The Crissagrim kinda sucks. Try performing a "HADOKEN" move while equipping either the MASAMUNE or the MURAMASA and see what happens... the JEWEL KNUCKLE is also good at close range and to collect loot.

  • crissagrim ? best weapon

  • Off course if THE BEST WEAPON

  • Hell yeah it is! =)

  • crissagrim ruined it for me though, too easy.
