  • The Glaive is the most badass weapon that I have ever seen (better than lightsaber imo). The only thing that I hate in this movie is the fact that the hero can't use the weapon whenever he wants...

I mean, wtf!!! If you have a super powerful, mind-controlled cool weapon then YOU FUCKING USE IT!

  • So.... 80's....just...wow....

  • My Father Directed the film and I can say that the Glave is safely in the hall closet.

  • They never show this movie on cable.

  • Looks like a wingstick from RAGE

  • @123Tilted you mean the wingstick from rage looks like this. This movie predates rage by 2 decades kid.

  • We know about their son. He was Emperor Palpatine.

  • Colwyn and this five bladed weapon went together like "A hand in Glaive".

  • I was actually real disappointed with this scene when I first saw it way back when because before they go into the cave, they are all like "I'll try to come back with the Glaive." "If you dont come back with the Glaive, you won't come back at all." I was expecting Colwyn to fight some sort of guardian or something. Overall though this movie is an AMAZING work of art. They just dont make movies like this anymore.

  • The most awesomest, underused weapon in the history of film. Guess the budget is to blame for that.

  • Considering the movies of the 80's being relived in sequels such as Indiana Jones, Rambo, and soon Tron, I think a sequel to this could be possibly and well worthwhile so long as they have the original actors of Colwyn and his queen.

  • The Glaive looks like a Swiss Army knife, except that SWKs have about 60 blades

  • Hey guys and galls. I was wondering. Would you call this a decent replica?

    holeinthegroundpro . com/krull.html

  • @twillowb Hey there. The box would not let me just put a web page on here, so I had to get rid of the w w w and put a space on each side of the . before com..... Hope you can figure it out. I want one of these Glaives and the one of the site isn't perfect, but its a nice one. $160 assembled and about $10 shipped, so not that bad.

  • @twillowb I got that replica a few months ago and to be perfectly honest, I thought the sculpting on the prop could have been a lot better. I tryed to fix it up a bit and put a picture of my replica glaive on yourprops. Feel free to check it out.

  • in world of warcraft, inside Onyxia's lair, near one of the lava pools there is a skeleton with an arm reaching out towards a shurukin. obviously a krull reference

  • The Glave, made with 30% lens flare

  • Can't find a diecent replica of this prop no where!

  • Yes, This was the best weapon of medeval fantasy time, next to Dungeons and Dragons Archers Bow or He-mans sword. it was dangerous recalling the weapon but the multiple ricochet kills and spinning circular saw attack makes this weapon awesome.

  • I used to always think that krull was the glaive when i was little

  • Krull was one of my childhood foundation movies that made me follow the path of the geek, I love this movie...and the glaive, while clearly dangerous to catch when it came back, was awesome in design.

  • This, my friends, is vintage EPIC!

    >:3

  • they can make it a chronicle or trinology of the world of krull

  • Krull was easily my favourite fantasy film when I was a kid. I still watch it from time to time when it's on tv nowadays, usually a sunday and it's great. 1.46 - 2.15 is truly epic, the look of awe in Colwyn's face as the ash falls off The Glaive just mirrors my own. What a fantastic weapon and more beautiful than The Ring in LOTR's.

Hollywood doesn't make stuff like this anymore. AWESOME!!!

  • Holy crap is that alot of lens flair on the Glaive.

  • Is there a replica of the Glaive anywhere for sale?

  • Don't know for sure, I've just found some very cheap looking ones on the web :(

  • @metallian84 look at fedoraiders version

  • @metallian84 could you please at least tell me the website?

  • @Skopelicious What website? Just google it and you will find some website, I don't know a specific one with nice replicas :(

  • @metallian84 i see....for a moment i thought you knew something special...i've already done this but unfortunately i didn't find anything...anyway, thanks you answered!

  • I loved that movie as a kid. However, that clip reminds me that based upon the way he's holding it in the first shot I always thought that the spiky bits of the Glaive would stab into his palm.

  • jeses christ. i remember seeing this on tv many many years ago. this movie was such crap but i loved it at the same time. this film takes me way back. o my.

  • this is the best worst movie ever made.

  • This movie set itself up for a sequel, and I think it could be a really great film if the right people were involved.

So I say, Hollywood, out of the hunders of BS crap movies you will put on in the next 5 years, why don't you trade 1 of them in and find someone to make a GOOD Krull 2?

  • If they made a Krull 2 right about now it would be epically badass. I doubt the candy asses Hollywood wouldn't have the balls to try it or understand how to do it properly though. They'd probably do a remake and it would suck.

I'm not saying Krull is the best movie or anything, it's got plenty of flaws but if you just want to relax and let yourself be a kid again this movie is awesome and I'd love to see a return to Krull and find out about Colwyn and Lyssa's son. :)

  • @Strideo1

I'm quite confident there is no way to make a satisfying sequel.

  • @FluffyBunniesOnFire Of course there is a "way" to make a satisfying sequel. It would be through the artful use of good writing, good production, and respecting and honoring the source material.

Would that ever happen? Hell no! :P

  • @Strideo1 The source material DIDN'T have good writing. It had actors who committed to the ridiculousness of every scene and stumbled into a brilliantly charming formula that cannot be faked. It's like someone trying to attain nirvana because he WANTS to attain nirvana, it just doesn't work like that.

  • @FluffyBunniesOnFire It isn't a matter of possibility but one of probability.

If you could envision a satisfying sequel in your mind then no doubt the proper combination of resources and talent could bring it to life.

  • I remember this scene from my preteen years. The way the soot crumbled away revealing this beautiful weapon...I was in awe. Swords have been way way over-used in fantasy films. The Glave was truly unique. I love it.

  • Me too. The idea of a weapon that could be controlled using the mind was really wicked. God, I love 80's Fantasy and Sci Fi, far more imagination than the overly CGI'd films we get now.

That is why, I think, so many people loved the LOTR films, because Peter Jackson used every single effects technique, from CGI, to puppets, to stop motion animation, to scale models. Hollywood did not learn from this, and now produces CGI packed rubbish.

  • @yellowcougar18....Well you've just hit the nail on the head then - Peter Jackson should make Return to Krull. I mean if they can find a relevance in a sequel to TRON then they can certainly find one in KRULL.

  • @germanicelt True. I think they just need to keep the Glave, and a number of plot devices. Then remove some of the weaker elements of the story.

Personally, one of the parts of the film I loved was that it felt like a real trial, as many of their team died, people were killed, and traitors were among them. I would have used more of the Glave myself, also, and not have it get left behind after the final battle. Would open the opportunity for a sequel.

  • @yellowcougar18: And CGI ironically was coceived to make FX looks more realistic when in reality, it looks far more cartoonish. The only time I saw CGI creating realistic creatures or images was in Jurassic Park (The Abyss and T2 are pioneers, but they did used them to creat morphing effects rather than beings).

  • @DNchap1417 I was quite surprised that alot of the T-1000 effects in the movie were actually either Robert Patrick or a performer covered in a mettalic skinlike costume that was taken from a plaster mould of Robert Patrick, rather than a CGI creation. I understand why, as the technique was still new. A similar technique, I discovered, was also used for Colossus in X-men 3.

  • I always says that this movie is one of the best sci fi movies of the 80's..like DRAGONSLAYER,CONDORMAN,THE BLACK HOLE,TRON.BLADE RUNNER,etc...What a chillhood!!!

  • When you are the hero of a title and they demand of you think like sticking your hand into molten laval to recover a relic, Do you ever second guess yourself? Like i no what if im not the chosen one, this lava is gonna fucking hurt for no reason and that rock is gonna burn the shit out of my hand. How does a hero know for sure to trust crazy old men and their ramblings. lol

  • Did you see the beginning of the film? That guy held FIRE in his palms :D He is fuckin' immune to heat :)

  • @metallian84 but in the beginning he had his cloak +15 fire

  • @gosbong not lava but boiling water

  • most beautiful weapon

  • I remember the destroyers creeped the living snot out of me, but it was awesome when he got the glaive :D

  • where can you buy the glaive

  • Since it's pretty much an underground movie, I don't think one can find any replicas for sale :( Too bad, I wish I had replica of it :)

  • it is an underground movie isnt it, I cant believe alot of my friends have never heard of it

  • I would still prefer a lightsaber!

  • over the glaive?!?!?!? whatever

  • One of the best intros for a weapon :D

    ...

    I miss the eighties :C

  • Me too man, me too... :(

  • No offence, but can you guys remember the 80's?

  • Sure we do, it was my kindergarten years, I loved it :)

  • It was my childhood and early adolescence. I sure miss the 80's too. I remember seeing this movie for the first time when it came out on video when i was 11. I never saw it again till I was 26.

  • I first saw this movie when I was 8 :) By the way, its a fact that I was only a kindergartener in the 80s, but the early 90s in my country was a bit like the 80s :) We had many of the 80s films on VHS (pirated copies with a single narrator as the translator of the dialogues :D )

  • @germanicelt lmao yeah me too!

  • me too ^^

  • Whatever happened to this actor? I don't think I've ever seen him again.

  • he was in a few episodes of one of the Star Trek series. it was either Deep Space 9 or Voyager, i dont remember which one it was.

  • He stuck his hand in the Cherry sauce volcano juice

  • I remember seeing this movie as a kid. I would love to see them remake this movie with today's special effects. I think the Glaive is one of the coolest fantasy weapons concieved, second maybe only to the lightsaber.

  • Dude you forgot about Thundar's sun sword!!!!! The glaive was cool, it just looked dangerous

  • I'm suprised he didn't get his arm boiled off or encased in stone...

  • Moreover, he rides flying horses, befriends a cyclops, controls the fire, meets lasershooting soldiers in a fantasy wolrd! Fan-ta-sy! :)

  • sigh they just don't make movies like this anymore. Truly one of the best films of the 80's. I loved it as a kid.

  • Glaives do rock solid.

  • reminds me of that goop in lava lamps

  • Dark Sector is a pile of douche. Krull is the awesome.

  • surely one of the coolest weapons ever,

  • sigh* A director in hollywood needs to remake this trippy movie xD

  • God save us from those remakers!!! :D They will surely f*ck up it if they will make a remake :(

  • ;A;

  • Remake? Why not a sequel? The prophecy regarded the couple's son (the actors are the right ages now). I assume the glaive was sucked into space with the remains of the dark fortress, but... *epic fantasy voiceover* ...with the son prophecized to rule the galaxy, it could yet return to the hand of the one chosen to wield it. ;)

  • @EvilMuppet1979 Maybe a fan movie could be in the works !!! :D

  • It's funny how he holds one of the handles with his hand wrapped around the base. But in the next scene, his hand is further up so that it doesn't get stabbed.

  • That's why he is the hero of the movie :D He is smart enough to know that the blades will come out of the glaive :DD

  • Yes indeed! Remakes are shit incarnate. :(

  • I'm not sure if they'll make one, but if they do, they'll try to make it as much Lord of the Rings as possible.

If the producers are smart, they should just re-release it in a special edition DVD (if they haven't yet)

  • They did. They should do a sequel or something

  • This is a total rip off of dark sector.Someone time traveled to the future to play dark sector and went back to the past and made this movie.I refuse to think that dark sectors idea wasnt original.

  • Who cares about if the game idea wasn't original. Both weapons are cool! :D

  • Dark Sector is a RIP OFF of this classic
