Baseballs is for kiddies. You chuck it as hard as you can and I'll try and hit it as hard as I can. It has all the finesse and subtelty of a rhino running full square into a hippo. This is accompanied by men chewing gum and babbling into headsets while commentators endlessly discuss who may be brought into the team from the college draft in some future game. In fact they will almost never comment about what is actually taking place in front of their eyes. A sport for shits and girls.
Hopefully the pitches for the rest of the series will offer something for the seamers. Cardiff may have put on a good show in a modern stadium but it was yet another poor pitch - the sort of batting exhibition pitch that will kill test match cricket if nothing is done. Let's hope the new rules about pitches deal with this problem. England batted poorly, yet still reached 400 plus. Australia would have scored 800 plus without the declaration.
