I met him after a show in June, he is hands down one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I use to play with Traktor Scratch (with LP`s as timecodes) and think it doesn`t matter wich kind of equipment you have....what is really important is if you can surprise and present something that touchs people...move the crowd is the point, not if you use turntable, cdj, or whatever....just my point of view ;-)

@toucansam - I love girl talk but he uses ableton live.... it really requires no skill... where girl talk becomes awesome is the samples he chooses... he has an outstanding ear. That being said... it is just him pressing play. ableton auto syncs and pitch adjusts. he has certain playlists mapped out and just chooses one that he wants to play. then he integrates different samples into that. the program does all the work. he just has a very good ear

3 Yes he uses a computer. there's no other set up capable. And it's still not easy, you deal with matching pitch and chords along with syncing the beat and keeping your samples from conflicting.

I'm not saying that one is better than the other, turntables are more difficult yes, but on the computer you can create insanely difficult sounding songs (such as he does) that were impossible with pieces of technology when there were just turntables. Pretty lights was going nuts 100 yards away and the music was 10 times better.
I was there too, dumbass. I think there are other mash up artists that are better, and I think the Pretty Lights concert was better, but to say he can't keep a beat and that he sucks is just plain fucking retarded.
It's a reconfiguration of a bit featuring AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" that he has at the end of Feed the Animals. Like it a lot more in this version, don't you?

I was one of the ones that got pushed over the railing. I danced like 15 feet away from him for like ever, til I thought I was going to pass out. This was by far one of the best best best shows at Bonnaroo. The energy was insane, &the people were incredible.
Check out pretty lights sometime. That was def the best choice of those 3. Great flowing beat. Nice samples. Drummer kept the beat perfectly through the whole set.
Good light show. Def was the place to be. Still don't understand how people were raging that much to girl talk. I stuck with pretty lights. It was about the music for me. And i had a much better time dancing to a legit beat.

As per the Oakenfold/Girl Talk debate, I stopped by both shows, and... while this guy doesn't exactly have a lot of talent in a traditional sense, like playing an instrument or whatever, he did put on a much more entertaining show. Oakenfold was pretty weak, every song has the same formula. Cut out the bass, then the mids, then all but the most irritating of treble, then drop it all back at once so everyone can stop plugging their ears and start dancing again. Really formulaic.

I'm not saying that one is better than the other, turntables are more difficult yes, but on the computer you can create insanely difficult sounding songs (such as he does) that were impossible with pieces of technology when there were just turntables. As long as it makes the audience wanna shake their ass I have no problem with the music.

Crystal castles, phish, pl, and all the other bands that night were so much worse than the amazing self proclaimed girl talk.
This should stay at parties, or different types of festivals, well roo is a different type i guess. Completely catering to everything mainstream. Some good band ini the lineup thats why i went but girl talk was at the bottom of the list.
Gimmicks don't count toward quality of the music.

I was one of the ones that got pushed over the railing. I danced like 15 feet away from him for like ever, til I thought I was going to pass out. This was by far one of the best best best shows at Bonnaroo. The energy was insane, &the people were incredible.

Check out pretty lights sometime. That was def the best choice of those 3. Great flowing beat. Nice samples. Drummer kept the beat perfectly through the whole set.
Good light show. Def was the place to be. Still don't understand how people were raging that much to girl talk. I stuck with pretty lights. It was about the music for me. And i had a much better time dancing to a legit beat.

It was crazy over there. Topless crowd surfers. Lots of girls ragin. Tons of people goin nuts.
Best party atmosphere of the late night sets.
Unfortunately his stuff wasn't really good at all, and the dude couldn't even hold a beat.
I wanted to check him out, was really disappointed. It was pretty weak.
Not talking about the crowd, crowd was awesome.
But with pretty lights less than 100 yards away, i made the right choice spending most of the night there. Okenfold was good too.

As per the Oakenfold/Girl Talk debate, I stopped by both shows, and... while this guy doesn't exactly have a lot of talent in a traditional sense, like playing an instrument or whatever, he did put on a much more entertaining show. Oakenfold was pretty weak, every song has the same formula. Cut out the bass, then the mids, then all but the most irritating of treble, then drop it all back at once so everyone can stop plugging their ears and start dancing again. Really formulaic.
