@gelutze Less than 10 minutes! I just left mine for 8 minutes at 200° C , and the DVI connectors melted a bit on the inside. Anyway , i've baked mine two times. The 1st time was for 7 minutes at 170° C. That didn't work , that actually killed the card (the card was working before the 1st baking, but was getting unstable even with upgraded cooling system).
Being left with a dead card and nothing to lose, i've baked it one more time, and it got back to life! Seems stable so far too!
some one pls help.when i plug my monitor to the board graphics it works great but when i connect to my nvidia graphics card horizontal and vertical line occurs.is my graphics card dead????????? it worked properly till yesterday and no probs for the past 3 years.
you must put it in oven for 8 minuts on 200 celcius its not a joke your graphics card is not very broken its a little bit broken my graphics cad whas tottaly broken that i can't see anything i have repaired it by putting in oven if you don't believe search on google you will see this method resolders parts back together

si es un cpu de escritorio tienes que cambiar el cable IDE del disco duro... si en laptop no se que podria ser... a mi compu le pasaba lo mismo pero le cambie el cable y todo normal... un saludo
I had problems like this. Everything was flickering, and sometimes it freezes. And i also tought it would be the graphic card but it turned out to be the mainboard
I burned my GPU before and that's EXACTLY what it looked like! Except squares everywhere pixelated Red Green Blue everywhere... Looked like my PC vomitted!!!
So glad I saw this - it confirms my problem too. My Alienware laptop died on me this way. It has a GeForce GO 6600 card. Gonna try to replace it myself eventually! Thanks for sharing
I made it too!! A friend brought me his laptop. an Acer. He had the evil vertical lines. I opened, cleaned the mobo, reput paste on the heatsinks of gpu and cpu but we still had the same problem. Luckily the gpu was an extra card on a slot inside the laptop. We reached the conclusion that we had to buy 100% a new card. So i tried my oven idea.. 200celsius preheated and for 9 mins , using tinfoil under the card with 4 stands.
IF you enter winxp, laptop still operating while your screen gets vertical lines or go black you have heat problem inside your laptop AND / OR gpu needs to be reinstalled.
To check if this is the issue, connect your laptop to an external screen. If you see everything ok in the external screen then you need to remove and reinstall the gpu, if its extra board, if not..QQ If not, pray its the temp, send it to an expert tech to open, remove the heatsinks and reput thermal paste etc
@antonyace I build a low-end desktop, Quadcore Q8300, An Asus P5g41, which had video onboard, and 4 GB of RAM. It's all new parts. But sometimes I get this freeze up issue,( I just uploaded an example), looks clearly like a GPU issue, (I ran memtest86 anyway, but it's all fine, 6 passes). I bought this motherboard cause I wanted something with onboard video, but it seems it's defective. I could buy an extra video card, and disable the driver for the onboard, or.. I don't know. What's your take?
@WilliamAztech It is possible a mobo problem. Course of actions
1) Check motherboard system temp and cpu temp from BIOS
2) Get in Safe mode of windows and see if this problem happens there too
3) Try use other ram, also remove any hard disk that is not windows for the tests (these bad freezes could be hard disk.20% chance)
4) Update ALL motherboard drivers from the company website. (i remember some nvidia card on my pc doing this crap, even blue screens because of old drivers)
Can someone please help because a lot of people have problems like these. I have a leader laptop with an intel pentium processor, nvidia Gforce 8600m with 2GB ram windows xp pro sp3 please help.
I'm surprised you aren't getting an instant bsod with a problem like that.
Try what nklobucbbb said. look for a tutorial on yt and bake it in the oven. Just be sure to remove any heatsinks or plastic parts that you can first. If it doesn't work, get another video card and if it does, get another video card anyway because baking it in the oven doesn't always fix it for a long time.
the pc will work just fine but you wouldn't be able to play games or use anything that required a graphic card so what i did is sent my graphic card to my service and they got me a new asus card with a vcool since 2-3 years now im using it and it's work still now :p so i gave you a solution to make the pc useable but if u want to play games or anything u must buy a new graphic card if your guarantee is over , but graphic card with a cooling system is very cheap my cost around 30-50$
ok so i got the same problem before in my desktop PC the graphic card was overheat because when i bought my pc the graphic card doesn't have a vcool system or a fan on it at all it's some nvidia geforce craps so it's overheat and that what happen . so what i do is that i plug out the monitor cable that was plug in the graphic card and then i plug it on the other hole behind my pc there are 2 monitor hole to graphic card and to without then your computer will work again but without graphic card
I just had same issue with my 8800gt (lasted nearly 3 years), had it RMA'd, got a 9800gt EE, it ended up having issues from day one and then within a weed did a similar thing, then they RMA'd that one with one with a burnt repaired board, bubble gum on the side, scratches and dents. Only new about the card is the Refurbished sticker, lol. Rigth now I'm running on an old ATI x800 GTO, good faithful card it has been.
I think your pc's air vents are blocked. Is anything covering it? open up your pc and clean the air vents. Any object resting next to or on the air vents must be moved. Hopefully nothing to bad.
The only way of possible repair is to toast them in gas/electric oven at ~200C/392F at least 10 minutes (though no more than 15), and let it slowly cool with the oven itself. Unnecessary for "repair" elements such as VRM and, most of all, electrolytic capacitors must be shielded with aluminum foil. The card must be clean as well before you begin such procedure of "resurrecting" .
LOL. My 8800 Ultra does that every time on boot up, when I get to desktop thought it goes away.
Unfortunatly my 9800GTX did that as well so I shoved it in the over for about 10 mins at about 180 degrees celcius. It worked for about 3 months and then caught on fire.
Had the same exact issue with my other comp, found out it was the graphics card so i replaced it then proceeded to take the faulty one out and smash it XD
This happens to me when i play WoW. When i play screen goes black but pc still runing and after 5 minutes it reboots. Would be a good idea to buy a new one then?:P
@lukecarter45658 dude you can only reformat windows or the Hard Dirks where you own, you cant format the bios and also more cuz this error shows in bios and boot up too, so there is something borken, the trick with the oven works ;D
mine went like that now i cant see nothing i had it temp repaired but the shop said that video cards cant get fixed you need a new laptop but after they temp repaired it it worked for like a month and did the same thng
this problem is not all video card, my aspire 9110 have this problem, I replaced my hdd and re install a new os, solved. In another computer, the problem is really the video card.

@uprightkanga Nah Its Perfectly normal for a Windows Computer to do this just remove the heat sink from the cpu and your pc is perfecto...DEAD!.....JK
I kno that was a stupid thing to say but Im a Sole mac user
Can someone help me? My computer crashed awhile ago, and a few months after that I finally got the courage to play my games on it again. I got the video card to play the games (mainly DoW2/CoH), but for some reason all the graphics on the game are set to low/medium, but before the crash it was able to set alot better than that. Whats going on? Is the VC damaged? I know not completely damaged, I can still play the games (couldnt before I got it), but now its just not as good. Please reply, thnx!
like @daimyo2 said, time to bake it in the oven, can't hurt since it's already busted, wrap in cables and such then put it on foil balls and let it bake about 10 mins on 200*c then turn off the oven and open the hatch, don't touch the card or anythings else just let it cool down where it lies, give it a couple of hours if you want to be on the safe side, if you dont let it cool down properly parts will fall off and you'd have to by hand re-sod them.
First of all the oven I would think would melt the plastic coating on the resistors as well as probably the board itself..
Second
Has anyone noticed the said temperature to use keeps changing?? first it was 180 degrees then 200 someone else said 370 and yet someone else said 385 and someone else said 360.. Now Which is it!!?? If this was a legitimate solution I think everyone would agree on one temperature setting.. No?
@orangie84 Yeah tell that to me who just saved a damn Macbook Pro from going to the trash... took it apart, set the Logic board on a flat pan, pre-heated the oven to 250 degrees and thew it in there for about 10 minutes.... Problem with the Macbook pro was the graphics was screwed up, had green lines, would freeze, last minutes i would have half a screen loading while the other half black with green line particles! Guess what? It worked, Gimmick? I don't think so! Melting? not even close!!!
0:16 i saw this when i was playing a game,Then,0:25 i saw these lines at the same but Windows 7 boot and they were all red,Then, when its loading main boot i s ee blue dots allover the screen.
oh my god i thought it was just me ive been googling everywhere to see if i had a virus but now this proves my gpu is faulty): mine doesn't show as many characters as yours but instead shows $ signs when boot up and after windows startup the screen goes blank): just like you...and fuck i even did a system restore and i even said to myself im willing to risk losing all these files to get this fixed but i guess it wasn't worth it because i just now got this problem again...
HELP! this is actually what happened to my laptop! Is this a graphics card problem?
Shit i have a laptop, does that mean my entire motherboard has to be replaced? because the store is charging me 699 to replace my motherboard. Is there no way around? warranty expired 1 week right after this happened..
@bayenne5b Yea it is true. I've had a videocard that's done that before. How can you say it's not true when he just got another card? The GPU itself works fine, as you can see an image on the screen. All that vertical corruption is the result of bad GPU RAM.
@bayenne5b Oh actually it was my fault, I didn't make it clear. I did mean the RAM on the videocard board lol. Wow, ya your RAM is bad. I hope that GTX 470 is still under warranty.. Get an RMA ASAP!
This happen to my 8800GT :( its a graphic issue for sure because now I have a GT 240 and its working fine except this card has random freezing issues on desktop.
This is a video card error all you need to do it strip it down clean it up and bake it for around 11 mins on 180.... Make sure you use decent thermal paste and pads then it should work fine.....

There is one thing to do.... Burn your graphics card and buy a new one
imran8206 1 year ago
The GPU needs to be reballed. Try another graphics card.

try baking the card at 200C for 10 min
daimyo2 1 year ago
like @daimyo2 said, time to bake it in the oven, can't hurt since it's already busted, wrap in cables and such then put it on foil balls and let it bake about 10 mins on 200*c then turn off the oven and open the hatch, don't touch the card or anythings else just let it cool down where it lies, give it a couple of hours if you want to be on the safe side, if you dont let it cool down properly parts will fall off and you'd have to by hand re-sod them.

Happens to me too, just that i gotta like start a game before it does it.. weird.. it cant be overheating..
noobsterxD 1 year ago
People I believe the oven thing is a hoax..
No?
orangie84 1 year ago
@orangie84 Yeah tell that to me who just saved a damn Macbook Pro from going to the trash... took it apart, set the Logic board on a flat pan, pre-heated the oven to 250 degrees and thew it in there for about 10 minutes.... Problem with the Macbook pro was the graphics was screwed up, had green lines, would freeze, last minutes i would have half a screen loading while the other half black with green line particles! Guess what? It worked, Gimmick? I don't think so! Melting? not even close!!!
LALOMAN18 1 year ago
@orangie84 your wrong the final process in making any video card is a slow bake in a controlled oven. Do your research before commenting
4g63gen1 1 year ago
@orangie84 think for a sec, "Celsius" .. "Fahrenheit" .. let it sink in.
If you're not going "oooh" the nearest minute, then my friend, you're a dumbass.

One or more of the RAM chips on the board is fukkkkked, if it were the GPU itself that was broken, nothing would come on screen.
GlycerinZ 1 year ago
@GlycerinZ Not true. Read uprightkanga's solution.
bayenne5b 1 year ago
@bayenne5b Yea it is true. I've had a videocard that's done that before. How can you say it's not true when he just got another card? The GPU itself works fine, as you can see an image on the screen. All that vertical corruption is the result of bad GPU RAM.
GlycerinZ 1 year ago
@GlycerinZ Ah, ok, I thought you meant mobo RAM, sorry about that ;)
bayenne5b 1 year ago
@GlycerinZ Do you think my card has the same problem? Here's a video of my problem:
bayenne5b 1 year ago
@bayenne5b Oh actually it was my fault, I didn't make it clear. I did mean the RAM on the videocard board lol. Wow, ya your RAM is bad. I hope that GTX 470 is still under warranty.. Get an RMA ASAP!
GlycerinZ 1 year ago
@GlycerinZ Thank you so much! I got a RMA and they told me indeed the card was broken! Thx for the advice, man!

Get a mac! that will solve all your issues with crappy pc's !
tklawrence123749 1 year ago
This is a video card error all you need to do it strip it down clean it up and bake it for around 11 mins on 180.... Make sure you use decent thermal paste and pads then it should work fine.....
rvsgamer 1 year ago
I saw before NTLDR started the letters "Hardware" you could be experiencing a
-Hardware Problem | Replace, fix, or get a different Graphics Card
It probably - Overheated, Got damaged, Something fucked up.
If it came with a fan, run your pc with the case open and after awhile do checks to see if that fan is still running, if not - the card overheated
Ofcourse i see this doesnt help, you got another card

warranty is out (in USA its 2x Lifetime, UK just 2 years)
Baked it at 200 for 8 mins
WORKING..
