All his hand gestures, tone of voice, face mugs made for a classic character that Jerry Caroll could interpret to perfection. i wish somebody would bring him back, he was so funny. He brings back a lot of good memories from the 80's.
Loved the Crazy Eddie commercials. Never got tired of seeing Jerry all agitated, screaming and mugging and pointing at the camera. And believe me back in the 80's they played these commercials all day long.
I actually remember seeing a couple of these on TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes [the Christmas ones come to mind]. Though I don't really remember it, my mom says I used to imitate this guy back when I was MUCH younger and we were living near the east coast.
Bunch of thieves, went into one with Madonna to buy a boom box in '81 and they didn't have it the day of the sale...we walked back to alphabet city po'd.
From a quick read might be around 1985. You can still get them as they still refurbish and there are special vintage ones made. The rotary was fun as hell to use.
In accounting classes on auditing, a lot of students use Crazy Eddie as the topic of choice when dealing with accounting fraud. That and Enron. I guarantee you, someone will want to do those two every single time as a part of a project, every professor expects it.
I know they opened up some stores in Jersey, I think around Edison & Princeton. I know I passed by one once over the last 10 years, I think when I was on Routes 1 & 9. But I don't see any in NY anymore, which had quite a few stores back when I was a kid.
Are you sure these are rom the 80s???? I remember the Crazy Eddy ads in the early 70's to maybe late 70s... we bought our refrigerator from crazy eddy...
Its amazing, 25 years ago when this commercial came on everyone in the room, including myself, wanted to hurl the TV out the window. Now 25 years later, I wanted to hurl the computer out the window!!!!
I miss these commercials on channel 9 and 11. Watching old godzilla and king kong movies when I was kid, and these commercials would come on during the break. Me and my brothers loved them.
This montage of clips is fantastic! Not only do I remember the commercials, but as someone who does TV work, I can sympathize with the blunders. Not as easy as it looks! This rare footage is terrific to see and it is funny after having seen the finished product on TV for a long time! JimMastersTV
Jerry Carroll was the greatest TV pitchman ever. I'm surprised he disappeared when the store went out of business. He should have been a big star. I guess people too closely associated him with Eddie Antar.
Does anyone know what Jerry's doing these days? He must be about 70 or so now. And does anyone know what Jerry's "big mistake" was in the commercial near the beginning? It's been baffling me for months.
Carroll was a disc jockey. After the collapse of Crazy Eddie's he dabbled in record stores-failed. In 2006 he was a disc jockey at a night club on the upper West side of NY.
He kinda sounded like Ron Popeil.

No.. Okay.. I seriously got REALLY scared at 0:45 when he went "OOOOOOOOOH, Jerry made a big mistake.."
I thin doing this to many times is slowly making him insane, he reminds me of a serial killer.

HE was investigated for leading people in with a sale item, and when they asked for it, claimed they were out.

I hear he's doing time for child molestation, something involving his girlfriend's kid. But it may be just a rumor.

Where do I find these commercials? I'm a TV producer and want to use them in a documentary I'm producing. Is there a copyright issue with these ads?
